Stretching Your Supplies: Dies + GIVEAWAY

Hello! I have been struggling lately with creating… so I decided to lock myself into my craft room until I came up with something. I am glad I did! I had some fun stretching my dies and using them in fun ways.

Simon Says Stamp just released a bunch of fabulous dies and stamps and I just had to play with them right away. (You can see them HERE.) I used a few fun die cutting techniques that I hope you like.

For the focal point on each card, I used a die cut inlay technique (check out that video!) that resulted in parts of the words hanging off the main die cut. This is such a unique look… nice and smooth! The Simon Says Stamp Heart Smile Die is perfection and the Hero Arts Hearts Infinity Dies work great for this technique. Oh – and I used Shimmer Spritz on the black die cuts for shine.

For the second card, I used the same die cut inlay technique with the new Simon Says Stamp Miss You Die and Simon Says Stamp Heart Duet Die. Such a pretty embellishment thanks to that gorgeous sentiment. And check out how smooth it is…

For the background of both cards, I wanted something subtle yet shiny. I created my own stamp by die cutting craft foam with the Simon Says Stamp Clipping Heart Die. I temporarily adhered it to an acrylic block so I could stamp with it. I stamped repeatedly over the backgrounds of the cards with Versamark ink and heat embossed with the fabulous WOW Silver Pearl Embossing Powder. This powder gives a tone-on-tone look… with a touch of silver when you tilt it in the light.

  23. Your cards are always so pretty and these are no exception. Again, using die cuts and I don’t have a die cutter. Darn! If I had someone special to send these to I would. Someday I will get a die cutter and be able to make cards just like this.
