Die Cut Gatefold Cards + GIVEAWAY

Hello again! Today I am sharing a couple fun ways to create die cut gatefold cards.

[All supplies are linked in the text below and in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links may be used at no cost to you.]

My first examples features the new Simon Says Stamp Folk Dance Die. (SWOON!) I die cut two of these panels, folded them in half, and wrapped them around a light purple notecard.

To the left flap, I adhered a layered Simon Says Stamp Big Happy die cut and a Simon Says Stamp Simple Sentiments heat embossed sentiment strip. When you open the gatefold, there is a card inside.

My second card shares a die cut and vellum gatefold option. I added a piece of Stick It Adhesive Sheets to the back of mint cardstock and die cut it with the new-and-lovely Simon Says Stamp Leafy Frame Die. I cut the die cut in half and adhered it to the edge of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ vellum piece. I folded the vellum in half and wrapped it around the edge of a notecard. I repeated this on the other side, creating a gatefold opening.

I adhered a heart die cut to the left panel and added a Simon Says Stamp Really Big Thanks sentiment. The little flowers are from the Simon Says Stamp Blooming Circle Die.

When you open the card, you see the card inside…

And there is a spot to write a personal message.

  1. So many great new products to choose from! I guess my favorite is the Ornate Background Friendly Frolic background stamp & dies. Such possibilities!

  2. Your great at your instructions! I really don’t want to pick one favorite because the set is so awesome! Love all the sea creatures . My grandchildren will love cards made with them.
The answer is……. Leafy frame as it can be used on so many cards.

  3. Hmmmm… I have to say the Ornate Background background stamp and dies…. very versatile!

  4. I’m a little late to the dance, as they say, but I’m really liking the big word dies such as the “Happy”. I’m attempting to slowly build my collection of them. Thanks for the opportunity to win a great SSS product!

  5. SQUEAL!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the BEAUTIFUL Cards!! Such FUN Designs!! I LOVE ALL Of the NEW Products!! My favorites are the Ornate Background, Friendly Frolic background stamp & dies and the Bus Stamp and Dies!! SO MANY GREAT Products!! THANKS for sharing and for the chances to WIN!! Have a FABULOUS WEEK!!

  6. I love the leafy floral and especially how you used it on the card. You make me want to spend the day making cards! Thank you for the inspiration!

  7. Wow! Your cards are fantastic!! When I first saw the release, I was most excited that the Leafy Frame stencil from the last release had been turned into a die for this release. It is SO beautiful, and since I am a nut for trees and leaves, this die is “right up my alley.” However, I never would’ve dreamed of using it the way you have. What a great idea!! Makes the card look very special!!!

  8. I love gatefold cards and that leafy background die has so many possibilities, has to be my favorite

  9. I don’t have background dies, so I’ll look to see if there is something else I can use as you suggested Jennifer. The LEAFY FRAME Wafer Dies is really nice. Maybe I’ll win it.

  10. Especially loving the green card with the heavyweight vellum. So pretty an looks pretty easy to do! The leafy frame is a beauty!

  11. It is definitely hard to choose between the sea creatures. I love several of them, but I have a thing for octopuses. So I choose the Simon Says Stamp PICTURE BOOK OCTOPUS Wafer Dies s589 Friendly Frolic. The sea horse comes in a close second, though.

  12. How do you prevent the fold in vellum from cracking or breaking? I’ve tried several different brands of vellum and they all seem to do the same thing. I’d love to know the trick to prevent folded vellum from doing this.
