I have many favorite coloring techniques, but one that I seem to use a lot is paper piecing. That’s where you cut papers of different colors and either adhere them on top of an image, or adhere them behind a die cut as a “backing.” I’m getting ready to take a water color class, but I’m with you, Jennifer, in that the tubes of watercolor make me nervous.

  2. lYnn Fletcher says:

I really like the Distress Inks for water coloring backgrounds, but for coloring small spaces I prefer using colored pencils, they can be regular or the watercolor pencils. I found your video most helpful as I like you am not a great coloring person. 🙂

  3. Beulah Bee says:

No favorite color method, per se, but one thing’s for sure, I use my Kuretake water brush more than any other tool in my stash. Thanks again, for lots of great info, I’ll have to give my Tombows another chance 🙂

  4. Another wonderfully informative video, thanks for all that info. I have 2 favorite coloring methods, watercolors and colored pencils. I have recently learned more about coloring with colored pencils and have really come to love it. Thanks for sharing with us.

I love distress inks and just started colouring with the Zig markers. My girls even want to color with me again because the Zig markers are so cool! Thanks so much for all the videos you do, so helpful.

  7. Michelle says:

My favorite coloring method is using watercolors from Artist’s Loft. They are cheap but give such good vibrant colors! They also have a line of pearlescent colors that i’m enjoying.

  8. Tania Lankfer says:

Love the Zig Clean Colour Real brush!

  9. miriam says:

    markers & colored pencils!

  10. Alex says:

At the moment, my go to coloring methods are copics. But I do adore using color pencils, and I’ve just started water coloring. But honestly, I love any kind of coloring. Wonderful video as always. Thank You!

  11. Jpwalk1987 says:

My favorite would be the prisma pencils or copics it’s hard to decide. Thanks for the inspiration.

  12. Joyce says:

I feel like color pencils are the safest for me, as in harder for me to mess up. But I’m getting more into the Zig watercolor pens and I love them

  13. Mary Davis says:

  14. Kay Norman says:

Copics are my favorite, but I’m always open for all the methods and tips you give. I’ve learned so much from you, thank you for your videos and crafty advice!

  15. Susan Gonyo says:

My favorite way to color stamped images is with a combination of markers and colored pencils. I was using Spectrum Noir markers and colored pencils. Since they have stopped honoring their sales pitch of making Re-Inkers for their markers (so you never need to buy another marker) I am looking for a replacement for their markers and their pencils. A have recently heard about a company, Color It , that make markers, pencils and gel pens that I am looking into. I really can not afford Copic Markers but I really like having a lot of colors to work with.

  16. Kanako says:

Water coloring is my absolute favorite!

  17. Ann K says:

I am still a colored pencil kind of gal – haven’t mastered my Zig markers yet. And still like to color with distress inks.

  18. Denise MacRae says:

I am a very beginning colourer and have yet to purchase any of these fancy pens. I use my Crayola pencils and markers. Would love to get some Tombow pens soon.

  19. Tracey Rogers says:

I am a longtime Tombow marker fan and I think those will always be my favorites, but I have finally joined the alcohol marker craze. I couldn’t afford the Copics so I am collecting the Spectrum Noir markers and really enjoy them.

  20. Erika V. says:

Right now my favorite coloring method is colored pencils but I have run into the problem you described with the Prismacolor set I own. I thought it was just me, so thanks for pointing out that it’s been happening to many of us – I will look up your tip. Those Zig markers look really awesome so I’m hoping Santa will bring them to me for Christmas!

  21. Phyllis Freese says:

After taking some of your on-line classes, I enjoy working with Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils. I am still trying to improve my skill with the Zig Markers, too, After purchasing better paper to work on, I have seen much improvement.

  22. Teresa Doyle says:

My fav. method is a toss up between Zigs and Copics. I am still in the learning stages where it comes to blending them but I enjoy the process. Where I can’t afford to take a class , I watch as many videos as I can! So Thank You for being one of “my teachers”!

  23. Nancy Lawson says:

I’m still fairly new at card making and still trying different mediums. So far I have the Zig Clean Color Markers and the Prismacolor pencils. I love both of them. I loved your video that shows different ways of using both of them. Thank you for taking your time to share.

  24. Yesenia Herrera says:

I haven’t colored much due to I’m new at cardmaking but I do love the zig markers.

  25. Julia Lynn says:

I have to say the most versatile is the Spectrum Noir clear sparkle but I am excited to get started with the copics!

  26. Katrina says:

I’ve been wanting to try all the mediums you talked about in the video! However they are tremendous investment and I’m not yet ready to jump into them so soon. I’m currently using distress markers in all my card projects. I love it so much but I’m not mastering it yet.

  27. Michelle G says:

I don’t normally color; but, when I do, I use my Copics. I do like the Wink of Stella glitter pens. I should try the colored ones. Thank you. Love your videos!!

  34. Gail Plaskiewicz says:

Color? Did you say color? You know me, I love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, to color! Oh, and did I mention I love to color? LOL I only have a few Copics because they are kind of expensive to purchase, plus I have to learn somewhere how to color the proper way with them. I have other kinds of markers and I like them all. The kind of markers I don’t like are the ones that don’t match the color of the marker cap. I bought a bright pink marker, kind of a bubble gum pink color. I didn’t have one that color and I wanted that color.. When I got it home, it was a darker pink and I was so mad! The pen should match the cap color. I also have tons of colored pencils and fancy Crayola crayons plus a 96 box of Crayola crayons. Crayola makes the best crayons and I should know. I’m a substitute preschool teacher and we use plenty of crayons. In Sept. which is back to school time the stores always had new, fun, Crayola’s but they don’t seem to be doing that anymore. I have some with glitter but they are hard to color with, I have swirled colors, 3 colors, and some that shimmer. I love my watercolors too.
So what is my favorite coloring method you are asking yourself? Oh you weren’t asking that? LOL I think my favorite is colored pencils. Until I really learn to use my Copics properly, I have to say that shading and variegating and other things are easiest with my colored pencils.

  35. SuzanD says:

I recently invested in Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers and love them. I find the colours blend together beautifully.

  36. Caly Person says:

I love water coming with ZIG markers but I think my ultimate favorite is Copic markers. I love to blend colors and create depth with a variety of different shades.

  37. Teresa says:

I love using Distress watercolors or watercolor pans for my cards! They are easy to use and I love the outcome each time because no two are ever the exact same!

  38. Tina Kloepfer says:

I enjoy coloring, so it’s hard to choose one favorite. If you twist my arm, I’d say my fav is Sketch Copics. I use other alcohol-based markers with Copics w/o any problems. Copics blend easily on the right paper. The brush tip is excellent! The price can be a deal breaker for some crafters, but I just built my collection over time. They will last for years!

  39. Kathy Mc says:

I’m learning how to use my Zigs in different ways to blend colors better. However, when ink blending for color, I love my Distress Inks.

  40. Gabby Rodriguez says:

Love my copics and wink of stella clear for that bit of shimmer!

  41. Lena says:

I mostly use my Promarkers, my Spectrum Noir Shimmer pens and sometimes watercolors.

  42. Diana says:

My favorite coloring tools is the prisma pencils!! I feel like I have much more control over the colors. I’m just diving into the world of pens 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your favorites.!! I love your videos !

My favorite coloring item is still Copics! Thanks for sharing your favorites with us!

  44. I’m not sure I can pick just one favorite method of coloring. I love coloring with my Copic markers, but I love my Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils, too!

  45. LC says:

Seeing the clear Wink of Stella brush marker on your list makes me happy! I love both the brush marker and pen, and use them on pretty much every card I make. When I color, I mostly use Prismacolor pencils. Thanks for the awesome tips and suggestions!

  46. Linda Davidson says:

I have just started experimenting with coloring and I think I am going to LOVE it. I have some cheap colored pencils that I started with and have moved up to some of the Zigs. I have the shimmer pens that I love and I hope with practice I can use the Copics.

  47. Em says:
