Here is the first video for today. It focuses on my favorite dies…

WORD DIES

I use word dies quite often on cards. With stamped sentiments, you have to find a smooth place on your card to put them. With die cut sentiments, they can go anywhere and add dimension. Here are some of this year’s favorites:

BACKGROUND DIES

Background dies tend to be higher priced than most crafting products. Therefore, you want to be sure you invest in good ones! I think these all have a lot to offer for a variety of styles and fun techniques:

MUST-HAVE DIES

Here are some dies that are useful for many types of cards. They can be used in so many ways!

OTHER DIES

Here are some other fun dies that caught my eye this year:

If you are looking for the card examples I shared in this video, you can enter the product name in the “search” bar at the top of my blog and you will find them!

DIE CUTTING ESSENTIALS

Here is a video showing die cutting essentials and embossing folders…

EMBOSSING FOLDERS

I also wanted to include a few embossing folders on my must-have list this year…

  4. Who couldnt use the rectangle dies over and over and over. I didnt know they had ELECTRIC Big Shots! Oh, Santa!

  5. My favorite is the Birch Press Dazzle die set. It is stunning and has so much potential. Thank you for your time and energy in creating the My Favorite Crafty Things videos. I really enjoy seeing your picks and always find items to go on my wish list. Also, thanks for the chance to win.

  6. Hero Arts Star Confetti Die and the Birch Press star die are my two favourities. I am also anxious to try the slide on over dies.

  7. LOVE my Big Shot. The Micopore tape is so much better than the washi tape. The Die snips I have had since my beading days. Now that I have them back from my son (who is away at college). He insisted he didn’t have them (to cut his guitar strings) I found them in his room when I was putting some things away in there. That crazy boy!!

  8. I love the Birch Press Layering Dies and the Concord and 9th Hugs Die. Thank you for always sharing; I learn so much.

  9. Birch Press Layering Dies – I have never seen them before so now want to purchase them!! Also, have some of the My Favorite Things background dies and love using them with the glitter.

  10. I think I use my big shot for every card that I make. My favorite die of your choices is the Reverse Confetti Cuts All Framed Up, and having watched your latest video, I want an embossing pad too! Thanks for the chance to win!

  11. My favourite in these dies are the lawn fawn pop ups, the hero arts confetti circles and hero arts confetti stars. Thanks again for doing this series again!

  12. So very few of these sets are available in South Africa, but thanks to your videos Jennifer, the horizon is shifted to what’s available on the other side of the world! Hero Arts Circle Confetti, Reverse Confetti All Framed Up and SSS Mini Hearts Outline are what dreams are made of…

  13. It’s so hard to decide. But at the moment I am in love with all those scripty word dies out there! I would also love to play with the Birch Press background dies.

  14. I have not seen the layer dies, so very impressed with the Birch Press Designs especially the Delfina shown above, and the Beehive (you exampled on video). The Hero Arts star confetti die is lovely too.

  15. I can’t wait to get my Dazzle Layering Dies. They are so beautiful. Heck, I would like all the Birch Press dies. I am also getting the Sunny Studio Holiday Style Stamp Set when it comes in. That bell is awesome. I’m so happy Jennifer McGuire directed me to Simon Says Stamps through her videos.

  16. Hi Jennifer!
I love your videos detailing your favorite things.
I seem to recall a die for a door that opens and shuts. But I cannot find it. I thought I saw it in one of your videos. Am I right or am I just dreaming? I have a theme in mind for a door that opens and closes. Please let me know if you’re aware of this. And thanks so much for your videos! I learn a lot.

  17. You are such an inspiration. Yours and Kristin as are really the ideas that enthuse and inspire me! Those birch press layering dies are just incredible -very elegant. I would also love to be able to buy those large sentiment dies but they and the layering ones are impossible to find in the UK -do you know of any sources please? Many thanks!

  18. The snowflake dies, I love Christmas probably the most out of all the holidays. And the stitch dies. Adds something to the cards.

  19. I so appreciate the details you shared on different types of inks and also a way to organize the colors in a swatch book…definitely something I need to do! Have a blessed Christmas!

  20. I so look forward to your favorites for the year in all the different categories. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos for us. I love the layering dies also but must pass on them due to the cost. So many new toys out there but with the retirement income, it just doesn’t always stretch the distance for all the spendy items. We still love seeing them though. Again thank you for all you do to keep us challenged and in the know of how to use all these new toys.

  21. Loving the Birch Press Dazzle and the my favorite things snowflakes. Love that Vac and use my bigshot all the time. Thanks for all the tips and your thoughts
