Surprise Slider Cards

Hello there! I am not sure there is anything more fun to create than a card with a surprise. Well… today I show how to create a surprise slider card…

Nothing is more fun than an interactive card! Especially when it includes a surprise. Today I used the new My Favorite Things Twice The Wishes Kit to create surprise slider cards, but you could create the elements by hand.

For the first card, I created a one-tier cake. But when you pull on the little tab on the top of the card, a second tier is revealed!

Isn’t that fun??

I created the cake using the dies in the My Favorite Things Twice The Wishes Kit, and heat embossed the sentiments from the kit’s stamp set. I decorated the cake with Nuvo White Crystal Dots and Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pens. (Those Nuvo White Crystal Dots are great for quick, inexpensive, dimensional accents!)

My second card is a variation of the first. This time, when you pull on the tab, a cute little bear pops out!

The bear is from the My Favorite Things Beary Special Birthday Stamp Set.

Be sure to watch the video to see how these were put together using the My Favorite Things Twice The Wishes Kit. However – again – you can make these elements on your own, but the kit does make it easy!

Love the cakes. We’ve been making layer cakes just with paper, and no icing. The icing really makes the cake! Sliders have been a foreign idea but this kit makes it easier. Great kit, great cards. Thanks so much for opening up ideas.

I do make interactive spinner cards but have always used pennies on the slider. The new MFT buttons are so much lighter though… they’re great!

A few years ago there was a craft show on HGTV (Carol Duvall), and one day she demonstrated a spinner card. It was not like the one you recently made – the spinner was in a window on the card front – but I couldn’t wait to give it a try. I’ve also made a few pop-up cards for my grandchildren. Love your birthday cake slider and will definitely be trying to engineer one soon.

I have created cards that have an opening and inside the opening is a image that looks as if it is floating but is really attached with fishing line, pop up cards are another favorite of mine but I have never tried a slider card even though I want to! Maybe today will be that day! Thanks for the inspiration!

The closest thing I’ve done to an interactive card was a Christmas card with a floating Christmas tree inside a cut-out circle (I think it was using a SSS die set), and you could spin the tree around in the negative space. Love these cards; they’re so cute!

  47. Anne Sturgeon says:
