Video: Stretch Your Stamps + Giveaway
Welcome! I hope you are all staying warm. I am running behind on my blog due to a third snow day. (I love having the kids home though!) But today I have a video for you showing how to stretch your stamps – literally! – with some new Hero Arts stamps. I also share a fun watercolor technique…

Sometimes I get a stamping idea in my head and I just can’t shake it. Today is the perfect example of this. I really wanted my greeting on the succulent pot, but it didn’t fit. Instead of changing plans I decided to make it work with partial stamping.
After I masked portions of the Hero Arts succulent pot image, I stamped it on some watercolor paper using some Hero Arts Black Dye Ink. (This ink works great for watercolor!) I stamped the image in two parts, which allowed me to get a taller image by I connected them using a black Copic Multiliner pen. This “stretching your stamp technique” would work great with tree trunks and flower stems as well.
I used a variety of Distress Markers (Shabby Shutters, Rusty Hinge, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Cracked Pistachio, and Evergreen Bough) and roughly colored in the images. I filled an “empty” Wink of Stella brush marker with water and used it as I would a paintbrush. The shimmer that is left in the marker is activated by the water and gives a gorgeous shine to the images and blends the marker. I also like how much control you have with this brush.
Oh – and this background stamp is a new favorite of mine – the Hero Arts Tropical Background stamp. So fun!
