Video: Ink for Beginning Stampers + GIVEAWAY

I am often asked which inks I recommend for new stampers. This is a tough question and I have spent a lot of time thinking about it over the years. And today? I finally have an answer…

[All supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Affiliate links used. To watch the video in HD on YouTube, click HERE.]

I consider three things to be important when considering ink for a new stamper: the quality, the colors, and the ease at which you can get good, solid results. Today’s inks are great on all three counts! In my video, I suggest “a collection of beginner inks” that includes Lawn Fawn and Ranger Dye Inks. Both of these inks are new and have impressed me big time.

The Lawn Fawn colors are rich-yet-muted-mid-tones. The Ranger colors are bright-and-primary. Together? A great collection of 20 inks. (I left out black inks from this – was just focusing on the colors.)

Be sure to watch the above video to understand more about these inks and how they work. And *please* remember – there are lots of other inks I love just as much as these! So be sure to watch THIS video about my other favorite inks. For example – I *love* Hero Arts Shadow Inks, WPlus9 Inks, various pigment inks, etc. and use them most. I adore their unique colors. However I felt the inks I share today are a great place to start to get basic colors. Then you can starting adding in the other great ink lines! (The more the merrier, huh?)

Please check above for a comparison between the colors. Keep in mind that every computer screen is different.

By the way, if you would like to better understand the difference between ink types, check out THIS video.

Pigment inks. I don’t think I have enough experience with the lot to be able to choose really. Since I have mostly pigment inks, I will say.

  4. Laura Smith says:

I have mostly used pigment inks in the past, but I am very drawn to some of the techniques that dye inks can do. It would be great to restock my sad and aging inks with some fresh options!

  5. Samantha Coleman says:

I am just starting out using inks. So I would have to say Versamark just because it is the only one I have used correctly and achieved any success with.

I am a beginner and the first ink aI did buy was Rangers that you listed. I am so new that i have yet to even stamp anything yet…. As soon as I started organizing I was put in the hospital for seven says and now I’m trying to get things in place to even start. I would love to win this because there are still so many things I want.

So to answer this question I have to go based on what I have seen you and others do. I love the brightness of dye but you did a card Stamp Layering with White Pigment Ink and I fell in love with the white pigment.

  27. Ariane C. says:

Since I’m a true beginner in ink pad and ink, all I have is pigment ink and I’m not quite happy with it. It’s good for small images that I don’t manipulate but it smears whenever I touch it even if the pigment ink is cured for several days (but not heated set because I don’t have a heat tool). Now I’m hunting for a black dye ink pad to check the difference between pigment and dye. Your videos help me a lot. Thank for sharing them. <3

  28. Barbara M says:

Hero Arts Mid tone inks are my go to inks. Then Tim Hollz distress. I some of the Simon Says Stamp brand colors and they are very good! I don’t even have much room for any more as these come in many colors.

  29. Shanice says:

I usually reach for Dye ink. which is why i have dye inks in a number of colors and if I want to heat emboss ill just us a versamark over top. sadly my ink collection isn’t where I want it to be. However if I win I will be there or close to where I want it to be:)

  30. Cindy O says:

The colors in these two sets are very nice. I have both sets on my wish list for Mother’s Day.
