Video: New Distress Inks – Pearlized Paper… and GIVEAWAY!

Happy Sunday.  I have a video, cool deal and giveaway today.  First, the video…

I have been wanting to do something with this favorite photo of mine and decided it was time.  The project is very simple, but I figured I would film it so you could see all the new Distress Inks in action.  I used them all in here and they are delicious.  Truly.  (The video shows many other tips.)

020610 Grateful Frame 1
020610 Grateful Frame 3
Supplies: All 12 new Distress Inks – coming soon; Perfect Pearls Perfect Pearl color; Mini Mister; Silhouette (to cut title); Corner Chomper; Heart Punch from EK Success; Tombow Mono Dot Permanent Adhesive; EK Success 3-D Dots foam dots; Silhouette.

BTW, the punch in this video is wonderful – the little heart on the inside is just perfect.  (It seems to be hard to find, but it is in stock HERE.)

I also saw that the might Corner Chomper is in stock again HERE.  Yes, you do need to have this.  Trust me. πŸ™‚

150565_1000x1000 I also have been getting lots of questions about the new adhesive I love.  Be very careful – many of the Tombow adhesives look alike and have similar names.  But there is only one perfect one.  πŸ™‚  THIS is it.  (I show it in the video.)

Now… on to the cool offer and giveaway…

  6a00e550ccd8ce88340128775fadcc970c-800wi

The other day, I shared my very-loved personalized stamp for putting on the back of cards.  It turns out a few of you went over and ordered one of your own, so the seller, Karissa of Kiss and Tell Cards, contacted me.  Turns out she is a big sweetheart and is offering 10% off stamp orders through the end of February if you mention “Jennifer McGuire, Ink.”   AND!  She said I could do a few giveaways.  WOOHOO!  So, I am going to do one today.  (Thanks, Karissa!  You know I will be ordering more. πŸ™‚

So, for a chance to win a personalized stamp of your own, just leave a comment here by Wednesday at 11:59pmEST recommending something to me.  (Movies, product, blog… anything.)  I will then pick a winner who will get to choose from these stamp designs from Kiss and Tell Cards...

I will be giving a couple more of these stamps away in the next week.  I just love them.

Have a great day.

Jen I will recommend what I recommending these days to all my friends, The Tag by Leapfrog. I love to read and my daughter does too and she recieved this for Christmas and loves it! She will sit quietly several times during the day reading her books with it. It emails us and tell us how shes doing howmany hours spent and her % of correct answers! Love it! Oh and a blog to recommend? I must say my own! What a cool back stamp!

  8. Caroline says:

Hi Jennifer, Me recommend something to YOU!!! Well it can’t be anything card related because you are the queen! I read your blog everyday and got a chance to meet at CHA 2009 (yes, ladies she really is as nice in person as she seems!)So……. I’ll recommend Cranford and Return to Cranford, I just watched them on PBS Masterpiece Theater Classic, love, love, love them! If you are a fan of Jane Austin, you will love these. Historical stories (not necessarily romance) about life in a small English village and all the intertwined stories. The original Cranford was such a big hit, that they (BBC) made a sequel Return to Cranford this past year, it just ran on our local PBS a few weeks ago.

Love your project, Jennifer! I’m with you on the Corner Chomper: must-have tool. And I’ve seen that heart punch a few times, but never thought to get it…now I think I “need” one. πŸ˜‰
About my recommendation…I just finished reading my son’s book, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. The movie is coming out this coming weekend, so I thought I should read the book first, and I’m glad I did. Lots of action, universal themes about fitting in, family, with some Greek mythology thrown in. My son has been wanting to see the movie; hope it’s good like the book.
Thanks for all the inspiration – and the chance to win a cool personalized stamp! πŸ™‚

I have some random ones. First, the milk chocolate covered peanut brittle bars from See’s Candies: http://www.sees.com/prod.cfm/Candy_Bars/Awesome_Peanut_Brittle_Bars

Also, the sugar cookie recipe from Martha Stewart, and the Cranberry White Chocolate cookies from Ocean Spray. I know you’re trying to be healthy, but I’m sure you can make substitutions with ingredients.

Also, the book Mindset by Carol Dweck will make you very aware of the kind of praise you give your kids. It has completely changed my way of dealing with my students.

  12. Victoria S. says:

I forgot my recommendation – I love Bare Escentual cosmetics (QVC)- their new Rare Mineral Moisturizer is great – i use it AM & PM and now my teen daughters are using it too!

  13. Jennifer, I just really enjoy watching your videos. You are my favorite video teacher. I have learned so much from you and you make everything seem so easy. I don’t know if you have ever been to an Archiver’s store, but they are the best. They do have some locations across the country. Everything is just for paper crafting. They also give the best classes every month for about $l5.00. They also include some free demos and etc. each month. This month they are having classes on stamping with Tim Holtz’s dabber paints. Check out the couple of cards that you will make during this class. Their website is http://www.archivers.com.

Thanks for this great video–I really appreciate how generous you are with your time, and sharing tips for increasing our creativity. I recommend getting a sheet of Cut-n-Dry foam pad. It’s wonderful to use with distress inks, and you can cut it into any size and shape you want. I also recommend small pom-poms that you can get at M’s. Use them with an aligator clip attached to a dowel and you can lay down color in small areas. BTW I often use the comments listed here for more ideas–these blog readers are an inspired lot!!

  15. Sharon T says:

  40. Chrissie says:

Hi Jennifer…I’m a Cincinnati dweller too and if you love chili like I love chili, you really need to check out Camp Washington Chili. It’s not the original, but they’ve created a real diner feel and the owner (who is about 90) is sometimes there and will share stories about “the good ole days”. A real experience.

Now…I know you are also a Silhouette owner too, so I’d reco this site http://www.iloveknk.com/

I recommend the best ricotta cookies in the world. They last a week in the fridge and are just as good as the day you made them. They are fabulous.

    2 sticks butter, softened
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    16 oz. ricotta cheese
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp almond extract
    4 cups flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda

Preheat oven to 350˚Cream butter and sugar in mixer. Add egg, ricotta, vanilla and almond extracts. Sift flour, baking soda and baking powder in large bowl.
Add flour mixture to butter and sugar all at once and mix until it makes workable dough. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop dough onto cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 12-14 minutes until lightly browned on edges and bottom. Cool on racks.

    Frosting
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
    1/3 cup butter, softened
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    3 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar

Mix cream cheese, butter and vanilla in mixer until combined. Gradually add in sugar until very well blended. Spread onto cookies.
