New Class, Video and a Week of Giveaways?!?

Why not?  I am feeling good this week for many reasons.  One, election day is tomorrow.  And that means no more phone calls (22 today), door-to-door visits (5 today), mailings (I didn’t even count today) for this girl who isn’t loving living in Ohio right now. 🙂  Two, I have lots of good stuff to giveaway, thanks to the generosity of others.  Three, I just am feeling happy. 🙂

So, let’s start with some shares and do a giveaway each day, what do you say?  Why not.

First, I am excited to tell you that I am hosting the Stamp Camp this week at 2Peas.  Click HERE for the details on my projects and HERE for how you can play along to win prizes!  My week is about masking.  The video shows a few types of masking.

This layout is like one I did in the past.  I just love tall and narrow photos from over the years.  It shows regular masking with the trees and ink masking with the grass.

This one shows reverse masking.  Can you tell I like those Thicker letters?  Yum.

Please stop by and say hi over there on 2peas.  I don’t wanna be a loser. 🙂

Guess what I did today?  I sent off the last of the cards that you angels sent for Card Drive for Kids.  They went over in three boxes spaced out over time.  I promise to show pictures of the kids when they get a chance.  They are moving into their house as we speak over there in Liberia.  Praying for them.

Speaking of prayers, I know someone who could use some.  There is this amazing little boy named Keegan who is in Ken’s side of the family.  The moment he was born, the hard battle for his life began.  He has had so many ups and downs, but has proven to be a strong little fighter.  He could use some serious prayers these days.  If you are the praying kind, please say one for Keegan and his parents.  Thank you. (For more information on Keegan, click HERE.  For updates, click HERE.  For some precious photos of the little fighter, click HERE.)  Isn’t he the cutest?  I love how he is smiling here despite all that is happening.  Cute dude.

And to Keegan’s parents – I pray for you every night.  And I can’t wait for Colin to meet your little one someday.  Then he will know who that Keegan is that he prays for every day.

OK…

How about that giveaway?  Sweet April over at Studio Calico offered another kit for me to pass on to one of you lucky winners!  (Maybe I should put my name in the hat – it is a good one!  I must go buy it.)  So, you have until Tuesday at 11:59pmEDT to leave a comment on this post just telling me your favorite recipe for cold days.  (You don’t have to give the recipe, just tell me about it.  I may email you asking for it, though, so I can share it with others!  We are making a huge effort to eat every meal in.)  I will post a winner on Wednesday of this GREAT Fountain Square Studio Calico kit!

SC_Nov_Blog

Also, you still have until late tonight to leave a comment on THIS POST for a chance to win the Jamie Scraps kit.

And, der, I forgot to pick a winner of the Maya Road stamp set from HERE.  Sorry!  The winner is Michelle.  I will email ya.

One more thing: Don’t forget that if you vote tomorrow here in the States, you can get a free Starbucks!  Helps make standing in line for hours worth it, huh?

OK… off to load some cards onto my computer and watch Dancing With the Stars.  I love that Lance is dancing barefoot.  That is my kind of dancing.  Awesome.  Oh wait – that was the phone.  Barack calling.  Argh.  Make that 23 calls.  Night! 🙂

We have a new favorite cold-weather recipe. We recently tried a lightened broccoli-cheese soup recipe, and it’s fab. Speaking of fab, this kit is beautiful! Thanks for the give-away, Jennifer.

First and most importantly I will be praying for Keegan (what a cutie) and his parents…..nothing in this world must be as difficult to deal with.

Secondly thank you so much for the masking technique…..I learned so much and your layouts are just awesome.

Lastly mine and my family’s favorite cold weather food is Chicken Pozole….It is a mexican soup that just warms your soul!

Thanks to April for her donation!

I usually make homemade vegetable beef soup when the weather gets cold here in Florida. I use mixed frozen vegetables, ground beef, tomatoes, potatos and spices. It is quick, easy and tastes great.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing

i love the vid tut! very nice layouts as always!

here in the philippines, even though its always hot and humid, my family loves a lot of soup-based dishes…
    a. “nilagang baka” – beef with vegies (sweet potato, string beans, cabbage, onions seasoned with salt or fish sauce, black pepper)
    b. “sinigang” – seafood or pork/beef, much like nilaga but sour and with different veggies and
    c. “sopas” – elbow mac with milk and chicken. to make it richer an creamier, i throw in some cream cheese too! and i like to put celery when i cook this.

hmmm i wonder if i’d be lucky this time?! lol!

It strikes me as funny offering coffee to get people to vote when it is a compulsory thing to do here in Australia, we get slapped with a nice big fat fine if we don’t. Maybe they think no one will bother if they don’t make us,lol.
Prayers go out to little Keegan, it must be a parents worst nightmare to have a seriously ill child.
And food, mmmm, winter food. I love a good old fashioned Irish stew on a cold winters day. There is nothing nicer than filling the slow cooker before we head out for the day and coming home to the aroma of it filling the house.
    cheers.
Oh and forgot to say how I loved the two layouts, you never cease to amaze me with your creations.

Well… I haven’t actually tried it yet, but I loooooove Mama Mandola’s Spicy Sicilian Chicken Soup from Carabba’s, so I’m hunting down a recipe (or as best a knock-off as I can find). I think it’ll be perfect for cold days 🙂

  11. Dani says:

By the way, I wanted to send well wishes to little Keegan. My little guy spent 2 weeks in the NICU and came home with oxygen for 3 more weeks, so while I know our struggles were minor compared to Keegan’s, I do understand to some degree. Hang in there, little guy. You’re a fighter, and everyone out there is pulling for you!!!

For a cold day, my favourite recipe might be pea soup. I used to hate it as a child, but the version we make now is great. It takes long to cook, but then you’ll have lots of meals to put in the freezer and then just defrost when you don’t feel like cooking. It’s very healthy too.

    Have a great day!

My favorite recipe for cold days is “Dutch pea soup” It’s thick, full of pieces of vegetables and made off course with peas. You eat it with smoked sausage and a certain type of bread (not a clue what the name would be in English). It’s delicious. I buy it in tins but the brave will make their own.
    Eveline.
