New Class, Video and a Week of Giveaways?!?

Why not?  I am feeling good this week for many reasons.  One, election day is tomorrow.  And that means no more phone calls (22 today), door-to-door visits (5 today), mailings (I didn’t even count today) for this girl who isn’t loving living in Ohio right now. 🙂  Two, I have lots of good stuff to giveaway, thanks to the generosity of others.  Three, I just am feeling happy. 🙂

So, let’s start with some shares and do a giveaway each day, what do you say?  Why not.

First, I am excited to tell you that I am hosting the Stamp Camp this week at 2Peas.  Click HERE for the details on my projects and HERE for how you can play along to win prizes!  My week is about masking.  The video shows a few types of masking.

This layout is like one I did in the past.  I just love tall and narrow photos from over the years.  It shows regular masking with the trees and ink masking with the grass.

This one shows reverse masking.  Can you tell I like those Thicker letters?  Yum.

Please stop by and say hi over there on 2peas.  I don’t wanna be a loser. 🙂

Guess what I did today?  I sent off the last of the cards that you angels sent for Card Drive for Kids.  They went over in three boxes spaced out over time.  I promise to show pictures of the kids when they get a chance.  They are moving into their house as we speak over there in Liberia.  Praying for them.

Speaking of prayers, I know someone who could use some.  There is this amazing little boy named Keegan who is in Ken’s side of the family.  The moment he was born, the hard battle for his life began.  He has had so many ups and downs, but has proven to be a strong little fighter.  He could use some serious prayers these days.  If you are the praying kind, please say one for Keegan and his parents.  Thank you. (For more information on Keegan, click HERE.  For updates, click HERE.  For some precious photos of the little fighter, click HERE.)  Isn’t he the cutest?  I love how he is smiling here despite all that is happening.  Cute dude.

And to Keegan’s parents – I pray for you every night.  And I can’t wait for Colin to meet your little one someday.  Then he will know who that Keegan is that he prays for every day.

OK…

How about that giveaway?  Sweet April over at Studio Calico offered another kit for me to pass on to one of you lucky winners!  (Maybe I should put my name in the hat – it is a good one!  I must go buy it.)  So, you have until Tuesday at 11:59pmEDT to leave a comment on this post just telling me your favorite recipe for cold days.  (You don’t have to give the recipe, just tell me about it.  I may email you asking for it, though, so I can share it with others!  We are making a huge effort to eat every meal in.)  I will post a winner on Wednesday of this GREAT Fountain Square Studio Calico kit!

SC_Nov_Blog

Also, you still have until late tonight to leave a comment on THIS POST for a chance to win the Jamie Scraps kit.

And, der, I forgot to pick a winner of the Maya Road stamp set from HERE.  Sorry!  The winner is Michelle.  I will email ya.

One more thing: Don’t forget that if you vote tomorrow here in the States, you can get a free Starbucks!  Helps make standing in line for hours worth it, huh?

OK… off to load some cards onto my computer and watch Dancing With the Stars.  I love that Lance is dancing barefoot.  That is my kind of dancing.  Awesome.  Oh wait – that was the phone.  Barack calling.  Argh.  Make that 23 calls.  Night! 🙂

    This is for Keegan ….
I cannot tell all of you how important the power of prayer is to these heart babies. It’s everything. Every prayer you can give to them helps. I know this.

I am the Aunt to 2 very special heart babies. Two of my sisters little boys are heart babies.

When things are scary and all you have left is prayer it helps. It helps mom and dad cope, it helps their extended families cope and it gives those precious little babies, who don’t deserve any of this, strength.

This subject hits very close to home for me. I have kissed 2 babies and prayed with all my might that I would see whem again when they woke from their surgeries.

Please if you do nothing else today….pray for this little boy.

if you don’t pray….send really good thoughts his way.

    Jennifer….you’re wonderful!
    love you.

My favorite cold-weather dish is a Rachel Ray recipe called Salsa Stoup (halfway between soup and stew) and it’s like a pumped-up version of tomato soup. Love this with cheese quesadillas – so perfect for a cold night! Thanks for the chance to win!

  27. Bekka says:

Wow — 22 phone calls! Dang!

My favorite recipe is mini pumpkin cupcakes. Usually I make a cream cheese icing and top them off after they cool. Tomorrow for our election night party, I’m going to bake half of them with the cream cheese in the middle, and the other half with mini chocolate chips.

Or cheesy potato soup. That one’s good, too. 🙂

I will keep Keegan in my prayers.

Usually it’s homemade tomato soup or corn chowder with some hot fresh bread on the side with my boys, or when dh is actually here for dinner it just might be chicken chili.

  31. Julie says:

Ooooh, it’s not cold here in the least yet (in AZ), but I love to make a semi-spicy chili in the crock pot all day… serve it over elbow macaroni, with cheddar cheese on top, and cornbread on the side. Oh, I wish it would cool down so we could have that!

  32. Nancy N says:

Homemade Minestrone soup made with lots of veggies and a leftover ham bone. Some warm biscuits Yummm….

I have so many. At the moment, my favorite dish would be the Mediterranean coleslaw. It’s awesome. I’m not normally a big fan of salad. But this one is super tasty and semi-cook plus you can add fried sausages in it if you want extra excitement 🙂

  34. Brit S. says:

That kit looks incredibly gorgeous! Happy election day tomorrow! I myself am going to enjoy the crazy political ads, phone calls, and visits stopping as well. My favorite recipe for cold days is book + fire + hot chocolate, but I also like simple brats and sauerkraut on a fresh-baked bun. Perfect for football days. Yum!

  35. Lori Y says:

At our house it’s a toss up between homemade chili and meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans! Of course I prefer chili since all I do is throw the ingredients in the crock pot and wait until dinner!

  36. Amy A. says:

Just made it today as it’s been a cold, rainy day in the NW. I call it hamburger soup. Lots of yummy carrots & potatoes in a tomato base. Wit bread sticks, the famiyl was happy tonight 😀

  37. I will be saying some prayers for Keegan…he is such a cutie pie.

My favorite cold weather meal is my 5 hour beef stew. All you have to do is throw in a bunch of yummy veggies & good meat, some other key ingredients, put it in the oven for 5 hours & presto (a complete meal)! The key to its yumminess…tapioca. Yup! It thickens it up real good! I like to make my home-made baking powder biscuits w/ honey as a bonus! Let me know if you’d like the recipe!

  38. faith says:

  49. Rachel Loesch says:

On cold and rainy days like today, here in Sacramento, CA, I like to make a low-cal recipe called Taco Soup! It’s so yummy, warm and filling, and on Weight Watchers it is only 1 point for a whole cup! Doesn’t get better than that!

I’d LOVE to win that fantastic Studio Calico kit….pick me, pick me! (hee! hee!)

  50. hannie says:

For a cold day, I would love to have some hot soup, my mom’s recipe. Or.. if there is a big bunch of us, I would prefer steam boat. that would be one fun occasion to have.
