I have recently discovered stencils and I LOVE using them. They are so versatile and are especially great because they are fairly inexpensive, compared to other products. I can only hope to expand my collection in the future.

Thanks Jennifer for sharing, I do art journaling and use stencils all the time.

  6. D.Ann C says:

I’ve used both stencils and embossing folders, although I haven’t used stencils enough to get used to them and always seem to have trouble with bleeding underneath. If only I could just craft and do nothing else. lol!

  7. Jean Kelley says:

I have so many stencils and embossing folders, yet I have not used them as often as I could. Thanks for inspiring me to look through my stash!

  8. Michele says:

Yes, I use both of them 🙂

  9. donna noble says:

I have both, but really like the added look and dimension that the embossing folder gives a project. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

  10. nancy dempsey says:

I do use both stencils and embossing folders. They add so much color and texture to my cards.

  11. JaMiro says:

I love embossing folders for dressing up simple cards. Stencils are newer to me and sometimes I forget about using them. Then you will bring them out for a video and remind me! Thanks.

  12. Larkin says:

I have never used an embossing folder, but have used many stencils. My favorites are basic ones, like dots or stripes. They look fantastic with Distress Oxides!

  14. Barbara J. Baxter says:

I have occassionally used both stencils and embossing folders in the past. But I don’t have a skill at using them. Your picks and ideas on different ways to use them aspire me to bring them out again and try new techniques. Thanks!

  15. Mary M. says:

I tend to collect stencils AND embossing folders and then forget to use them! This video really inspired me to get some out and play. Thank you! =)

  16. Mai says:

I love using stencils to create tone-on-tone backgrounds. Embossing folders are a bit harder for me to use because I mainly make 12×12 layouts which are too large for small embossing folders (but stencils I just repeat the inking pattern). Thanks for the chance!

  17. I was happy to see you include the Altenew Layered Medallion stencils, since I just got those recently. I love using stencils AND embossing folders. I probably prefer stencils, only because they take up a LOT less room. I have a bin for my embossing folders, and have to have a few stored next to it, because it’s so full. And that was after some purging! Stencils I can just file (most of them) in an 8×8″ scrapbook album. 🙂 Anyway, thank you as always for these videos, Jennifer! They are really helpful. Take care! 🙂 ~ Andrea

  18. Joy Revert says:

I have neglected stencils and embossing folders but am trying to get a broader selection to use more frequently. Youve picked some really nice favorites. TFS.

  19. Heather L says:

Thanks for the video… I have used embossing folders more than stencils.

  22. Janelle Dauenhauer says:

Yes, I recently used a stencil with stencil paint for the first time. Made a background for a card after being inspired by one of your videos. Added some glitter to white paste and it turned out ok. Will keep experimenting! Thanks for offering a giveaway! I look forward to seeing more of your YouTube videos! Love ’em! : )

  23. Janet Trapp says:

So many great picks! Love them! 💕

  24. Heather L DePasquale says:

I love using stencils; often with embossing paste. I like to ink up my embossing folders. When used dry they really give added texture and interest to my cards. Thanks so much for creating these videos. So helpful as a recap to your videos throughout the year. Enjoy the season!

  25. Karen Smee says:

I use both stencils and embossing folders – I like a lot of texture. I often use texture paste with the stencils and have recently bought a Ranger Embossing Dabber and plan to do some heat embossing with my stencils. Thanks for the chance to win more stencils or Altenew product. Merry Christmas!

  26. Mombart says:

Yes I made 50th wedding anniversary invitations for my mother’s cousin and used an embossing folder with swirls and she absolutely loved it. I would like to use them and stencils more so your videos are great inspiration. Thank you.

  27. Janet Sisk says:

I have used both before. It has been a long time since I used my stencils. I would say I use my embossing folders occasionally. I guess it is a good time to dust them off. Thanks for the inspiration and chance to win. 😀

  28. Amy Klin says:

I haven’t used embossing folders recently, but need too. I do like using stencils. Thanks for the inspiration!

  29. Ingrid says:

I do not use stencils, I have a couple, just need to make an effort to try some techniques. I do use embossing folders, though and love them. I’d love a few of these you have demoed, though. They are gorgeous!!

  30. Stacy K says:

I have a few older brass stencils that I used with the paper paste/embossing paste. I have a bunch of embossing folders that I also like to use for dimension on backgrounds.

  31. Sarah says:

I have many embossing folders and a few stencils. Seeing what beautiful things you do with the stencils makes me want to get more!

  32. Margaret says:

I’ve used embossing folders a lot over the years, but not stencils so much. I’ve recently bought some, though, and it looks like I’ll have a few more to buy, thanks to you! I’ve enjoyed them more since distress oxide inks came out – such a beautiful effect!

  33. Linnea Sundstrom says:

I have a few favorite go-to stencils. I recently got some good texture paste so I’ll be spending the winter with more stencils and texture paste! 🙂

  34. Mutzy Mia says:

I have accumulated quite a few embossing folders over the years and use them not very often…kind of depends on the card I’m making. I have a few stencils but haven’t perfected the “blending” to get results that I like. Will need to keep at it as I really like the look they give. Thanks for sharing your favorites!

  35. Doris says:

I use embossing folders often, but all your neat ways to use stencils has motivated me to purchase some more stencils, and get creative with them.

  36. Leah D'Auria says:

I’ve always been a big fan of embossing folders, but have only recently gotten into stencils. I introduced them with Distress Oxide Inks to some of my friends at a craft day a few months ago, and they were a big hit.

  37. M.Minelli says:

I’ve never used a stencil before but I never knew they existed until I started following your blog. I’d love to try them. I use embossing folders occasionally but not often. I’d like to learn some new techniques and get more use out of them.

  38. tape says:

Stencils are my go-to tools! I don’t own any embossing folders because I don’t have a manual die-cutting machine.

  39. ROSEMS says:

For this year’s holiday cards and calendars I’ve used several stencils. I love the multiple ways they can be used, with glitter, inks and as embossing. Embossing folders and dimension to my cards that look like I’ve spent hours on them. Which I did, however it wasn’t the embossing that took the time :).

  40. Laraine Randall says:

I use stencils or embossing folders on most of my cards alot! Love your videos!

  41. TxIdeaGal says:

I love texture, so stencils with embossing paste and embossing folders are some of my favorite things. Thank you so much for sharing your research and picks with us!

  42. Memoriesbymanda says:

Oh yes, I do use stencils! I love colouring texture paste and using it with stencils. Although the new Nuvo embellishment mousse is great for this technique too.

  43. Janice K. says:

I usually don’t use stencils on my cards, something new to try! I use embossing folders a lot, I brush ink or pearl ex powder over the raised parts, sometimes sand it lightly, depending on the cardstock, or keep it plain. I enjoy learning new techniques, thanks for all the videos you share, I really enjoy them!

  44. Bonnie K. says:

I actually have the Hero Arts Spiral stencil – my first stencil purchase. I used it with Gelatos – it was a little harder to do than I anticipated, but it still turned out kind of cool. I need to practice, and will definitely be checking out all your stencil technique videos!

  45. s1patrick says:

I have used both stencils and embossing folders, love them! I have not purchased any that you have showed here, and now that I see how beautiful they look, I am so ready to place an order, thank you for sharing all your favorite things it does help so much.

  46. Jimin K says:

I have used embossing folders but, have not gotten into stencils! Something to try going forward for sure.

  47. dnmccloskey says:

I saw one of your videos in which you used embossing paste with a beautiful flower stencil. I loved this technique so much. I use my stencils in this way, and even color the embossing paste to give it a special look.

  48. Bunny says:

I do love my embossing folders and use them a lot. I only have 2 stencils and the are both small circles. I think they need to be thicker as I have problems trying to work with them.

    Thank you for the video.

  49. Kerri says:

I have yet to try to use stencils or embossing folders although I do have a few in my craft stash. Watching your videos gives great ideas and will eventually get me to try it. Thanks!

  50. KSnyder169 says:

I am a huge fan of both stencils and embossing folders because they provide so much bang for the buck! I find myself pulling out old stencils over and over for backgrounds and textures. Thank you so much for all that you share. Your work inspires me often!
