I use embossing folders the most but love some of these stencils!

  2. joy meadows says:

I have many embossing folders and use them quite often. They give a simple card a bit of punch, I think. Thanks for the video, Jennifer! Love to see new things.

  3. Debbie Bassett says:

Love your crafty favs videos, I love to use stencils and folders, thanks for showing all these samples, some I haven’t seen before! Keep up the great work you do!

  4. Fonda Rush says:

Although we have a large collection of embossing folders and stencils, we don’t use them much. My wife uses stencils more than I do. She uses them with the sprays, and the results are great. I have used the embossing folders, but it’s been awhile. We haven’t crafted for a little while, but we will soon. She’s a teacher, and we play during her breaks. I love your videos. You show us simple ideas that anyone could follow along to make our own art. Thank you.

  5. Lynette says:

I haven’t done much with stencils yet, but I do use embossing folders when I remember to get them out! 🙂

  6. Karen Page says:

I have a huge collection of embossing folders but I love that companies still find designs or styles that are new or innovative, and I still have new ones to buy! I have a modest collection of maybe a dozen stencils, but I like to make my own with dies or my Silhouette too. I really liked the buffalo plaid stencil you showed though, so that went on my wish list!!! I liked the cross stitch one too… I want to heat emboss it in white on red card stock . I have the MFT cloud stencil but I need the hill one. I see my stencil collection doubling in the very near future!

  7. Carol Henderson says:

II have used both, however, I have used embossing folders much more frequently than stencils. I am ashamed to say I own over 175 embossing folders. I really do use them a lot in my card making, I think they add so much texture and interest.

  8. I love the beautiful new stencils that have hit the market recently, especially the super intricate Simon Says Stamp and Altenew ones. I have been using stencils for years. Started in college when I hand cut them from thick paper or transparencies! I also like embossing folders. My favorite are the WRMK Next Level Embossing Folders.

  9. Liisa says:

I use embossing folders a lot. I’ve filled three of the Darice storage binders and probably have enough to fill another one. I also have some square 3D ones that I love, but they don’t fit in the binders either. I’ve used stencils for dyeing knit sock blanks, which is how I have expanded to paper crafting, but don’t use stencils as much as I should for card making. I loved your video on foiling using stencils and the foil transfer paste. I tried it and blew me away!! Thanks so much for the inspiration.

  10. Marie-Louise says:

I have tried stencils, but not embossing folders, since I do not own a die cut/embossing machine. I love that you used a stencil from Germany, since that is where I’m from. I will definitely have to check that one out.

  11. Aimee LaCroix-Slocum says:

Embossing folders are my favorite to use, they are a great way to add subtle texture. Stencils…I have a couple and have used them only a few times. This is something on my to-do list, to get a few more and really play with them and try all the different things you can do with them.

  12. Katie says:

I’ve used both stencils and embossing folders with my projects. I need to use them more. Great ideas with your samples they are inspiring.

  13. Alicia Nichols says:

I have never used a stencil on my cards, looks like its time to give it a try! I have quite a few embossing folders but forget to use them.

  14. Jolande says:

I got my first 6×6 stencils recently and I have been using them. I really like that you can easily make an ombre effect with stencils. It’s a lot harder to do with stamps.
I don’t really use embossing folders much. I occasionally pull them out when I see a technique I really like (inking with distress inks, spritzing with water and then running through with watercolor paper was one I saw recently), but I have Sizzix embossing folders and they always seem to leave a strip unembossed. I can never get the placement quite right. Also, the embossing always seems to flatten easily, so maybe I’m not using the right cardstock or something.

  15. Nancy Saya says:

I love using embossing folders – and had recently bought the roses one you showed in your video. It is beautiful and then I chalked the roses and leaves. I have to say, I love the look of it plain and colored. I have used stencils – not as good with them but I think I’ll get better with time. Love your videos and your sweet disposition!

  16. Heidi says:

Hi Jennifer! I have quite an inventory of embossing folders and almost always use one…..however, I have recently fallen in love with stencils and love the versatility they allow you….color, shape, depth, etc. Loved your video! My Christmas list just continues to grow!

  17. Sandra Tessier says:

I like stencils but embossing just add to it. Thanks for the video and showing different ways to use each.

    the Altenew layered dahlia!

  20. Bev Chapman says:

I love using embossing folders. Also stencils but have more than I’ve used for both. I agree they are overlooked. Great videos. Thanks.

I LOVE using stencils and embossing folders!! They add so much to a card…especially when my creative juices are not freely flowing. 🙂

  22. Ginger says:

I have more embossing folders than stencils. Distress Oxide inks are truly wonderful for blending. Look forward to seeing your up coming videos using embossing folders .

I have stencils but have not used them a lot. I recently bought some transfer gel for using with deco foil that I am playing with. I saw a video from Gina K. that was so pretty using this gel.

  31. I love “My Favorite Crafty Things” videos. I always learn something new.
