5 New Must-Have Crafty Tools + GIVEAWAY

Hello! Back in November, I shared My Favorite Crafty Tools of 2016. Many of these still hold true today! However, I recently found several new must-have tools that I can’t get enough of. I think you will like them! Today I share five.

[All supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used at no cost to you. To watch the video in HD on YouTube, click HERE.]

Here are five inexpensive tools that I have found very helpful in the craft room lately…

#1: Jewel Picker

Sequins and such are very popular right now, but can be tricky to pick up and place in just the right spot. Until recently, I was using the Crystal Ninja Katana Pick Up Tool. It worked well, but one of my blog readers told me about the Jewel Picker. And boy is it amazing! You can use either end to pick up small embellishments and put them exactly where you want them. And the price is great!

#2: Darice Liquid Adhesive Tips

Last year I shared a video on several fine-tip, anti-clogging, liquid-adhesive tips. (You can see the video HERE.) I really liked using the Quilled Precision Tip Glue Bottle and never had problems, but I know many people still had issues with it. So I revisited my options and found the Darice Ultrafine Tip Applicators works well with small Ranger Multi Medium Matte and Glossy Accents bottles.

One thing I found helpful: I replace the color-topped pins with plain pins. I found the colored ones would bleed and change the product color. Corsage Pins work great.

Please be careful when using this due to the sharp point. I have not had problems with rust or anything and have used it for 4 months. So far, so great! Also, if you have the Quilled Precision Tip Glue Bottle, you can always use a pin in it, too, instead of the attached lid.

#3: Mono Sand Eraser

I shared this in My Favorite Crafty Tools of 2016, but I had to share it again. The Tombow Mono Sand Eraser is a must-have for every card I make. I often get ink boo-boos on my cards but never want to start over. I can easily sand and erase away many boo-boos with the Tombow Mono Sand Eraser. Get it. You won’t be sorry! (The one I link to is a bit different – it has the sand on both ends. I show THIS one in the video but use both. But tools work great!)

#4: Pen Blades

I have been using the PenBlades craft knives for quite some time and am very happy with them. I like that they are very sharp, have three tip options, and retract for safety. Another must-have.

#5: Gina K Clear Boxes

Oh. My. Goodness. These boxes are SO helpful! I used to keep my upcoming projects in pouches but they were hard to stack and label. The Gina K Storage Boxes are the perfect solution! There is enough room inside for 8.5×11 cardstock, embellishments, inks, stamps, etc. If you are a project planner like me, you must give them a try. I have 12 boxes with planned projects stacked up! You can also use them for storage. Oh – use a dry erase pens to label them and erase when done. Boom!

I hope these tool ideas are helpful. I have a few more that I will share in another video soon.

My favorite tool is the Fiskars spring-assist micro-tip scissors. Game changer. I have difficulty holding a regular scissors and these let me cut all day without pain. You featured these scissors many years ago and they have changed how I craft. I love to fussy cut now and have saved money by not having to buy as many dies. Thanks for always showing us tools, techniques and tips that extend the use of the things we already have and what we might use to make this hobby even more fun and enjoyable.

thanks for the suggestions of “must have’s”
    I have a fine-tip adhesive that I love. I’ve been
looking for the sand eraser but couldn’t find it –
now I know where to get it.
My “must have” tool is my paper trimmer.
    I’d be lost without it.
    thanks for the ideas.

I think my favorite tools are my Misty and my new lawn fawn stamp rag. I was skeptical about it but actually really like it.
I am so glad you did the Darice tips. I have been so unhappy with my tips so I am going to get those and the jewel picker upper. I use the one with the goey end and I haven’t been totally happy with it.
Thanks Jennifer for your recommendations I have never been disappointed with a purchase you recommended.

I love your crafty tool reviews because I am a tool geek if there ever was one. I need them all!! This is a great selection of tools for sure. I don’t know how I can pick one tool! However, I can say the one I am constantly searching for is my craft knife and I feel lost when I cant find it right away ro forgot to take it with me when I craft away from home, so I guess that would be my essential tool.

One thought – the Pen Blades look great, but I didn’t find refills. They seem to be too expensive to be throwaways, but more than that, it is a lot of plastic to just throwaway. I go through a lot of blades because I want a clean sharp cut, and I use them a lot to put layers with my Perfect Layers tools.

  6. Mary says:

Thanks for the intro to these new products. My favorite tool I got recently is the Misti. What a lifesaver!

I love the adhesive pick-up square by Therm O Web. It has bailed me out of a mess more than once!

  13. Jennifer Newell says:

My favorite crafting tool is the Misti. Makes for precise placement of stamps. Thanks for sharing these great crafty tools. Awesome giveaway

  14. Jodi LeVesseur says:

I love tools! Especially ones that make my paper crafting easier!
One of my go to tools will always be my adhesive remover square (forgot name), this thing is a life saver and it is so inexpensive. A couple other staples for me would be my foam stamping mat and acrylic blocks with lines!
Thanks for all you do Jennifer!

  15. Heidi says:

I have a lot of Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils and I only had a tin that fitted 12 of them. I didn’t wanted to buy a bigger tin because I don’t have storage room for that. I didn’t wanted to buy a smaller tin and layer them because I knew it would irritate me. Then I went to look for storage for coloured pencils on Ebay and I found these pencil case rolls, they are made of fabric, look awesome (available in many designs), the pencil tips are protected, the pencils are safely stored when traveling and when I use them I just unroll the bundle and start colouring (each pencil is kept in its own elastique band. When I’m done colouring I roll the bundle up and put it in a drawer. It’s awesome (and the rolls come usually in two or three different sizes depending on how many pencils you would like to store). Plus they are a great gift for friends that love to colour!

  16. I just recently started using the Pro Needle Detail Tool at http://amzn.to/2qkK7W4… I love it– I use “pokie” tools a lot in my card-making embellishment arrangement.

  17. gloria says:

Love the mono sand eraser and the multi matte medium. I will have to get the tips ,mine is always getting clogged. Thanks for the tips.

  18. Lisa Lou says:

My favorite tool right now is the Polar Sanding Block. I need a new blade on my paper trimmer so this block has been helpful in getting rid of those ragged edges.
I’m happy to see the review on the Darice fine tip bottles. I’ve looked at them in the store numerous times but just wasn’t sure if they would do the trick. Thanks to you…now I know.
I could use any one of these great crafty tools. Thanks for all you do.

  19. All of these are great products . I have been saving the GinaK kit boxes since I started getting them and have used for project containers. Love them so glad to see her selling them.

  20. Bunny says:

I really am enjoying the teflon bone folder I got in December. I got one from MFT that kinda resembles a triangle and is easier on my hands.

I like that jewel picker and the other items. I have the mono sand eraser and have used it a few times.

  21. Stella says:

I love my MISTI. I don’t have to worry about getting my sentiments straight!

  22. sharon brand says:

Great article and recommendations. I like the sound of the jewel picker and the sand eraser.
My most used item is a pair of tweezers! I use them for so much – sequins, die cut sentiments, titles on
    layouts, etc.

  23. L.N. says:

I would be lost with out Perfect Layers for scrapbook layouts. Doesn’t matter how wonky I always seem to manage to cut my card stock, Perfect Layers to the rescue–precision spacing ever time!

  24. rica says:

Oh gosh. I still feel very new to crafting so i can’t say much on tools yet..maybe it’s silly but getting a paper trimmer made the world of a difference for me. I can’t cut straight to save my life! Thank you for sharing this jennifer! Have a great day.

  25. Karinne says:

My favorite craft tool, at the current moment, is my stamp tool. I don’t have a MISTI but I have the Michael’s version of it and its great! Thanks for all your great recommendations and ideas Jennifer!

  26. Tami Elliott says:

Awesome as always Jennifer!! Many of the tools I use came from watching you. I have to say the best tool so far has to be the eBosser (electric die cutting/embossing machine). I broke my wrist at the growth plate last year in May. Could not use my Cuttlebug no matter what my PT person tried. . .. I thought I was going to have to give up dies and embossing folders for good. . . Along came a recommendation from Facebookers and I am a happy camper!!!

  27. Heather Price says:

I love all the tools you share with us. My new favourite right now is the Tonic Guillotine trimmer. It is awesome.

  28. Deborah says:

I ordered the little brushes you recommended for using the Ranger Multi Medium Matte to attach small embellisments. I was thrilled for a solution that avoided precision tips! I absolutely love my teflon bone folder and full-size MISTI.

  29. Maggie B says:

Hi Jennifer ~ There are a couple of crafty tools I don’t think I could do without these days. One is the MISTI and the other is Stick It! Love these time-saving products! Thanks for sharing more awesome tips with us. Hope you’re having a great week! ~HUGS~

  30. Love these videos, particularly when I see you using something repeatedly; THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

  31. Donna Gourley says:

I tried the Quilled Precision Tip Glue Bottle after you recommended it, and I really like it. The only problem I’ve had is the plastic “tip” has become unattached so there is a much greater chance of me losing it! I’ll remember about the pins you recommended today for when that eventually happens! I know it will.

  32. lilola says:

My Misti is my “can’t craft without” tool!

  33. Martye says:

For me, the MISTI has been the biggest lifesaver. I used to get a card all done then stamp the sentiment…. just ever so slightly crooked. Arrrggghhh! Would love the opportunity to win any of these items – you always have the best recommendations.

  34. Gerrie says:

Thanks for all the great tips! It’s so helpful to have some direction and product feedback BEFORE buying!

  35. Nancy Deffner says:

The sand eraser is fabulous – always keep one handy. I recommend Tim Holtz scissors – they’re the best!

  36. Jeanne says:

I love my big shot and misti!

  37. Roberta says:

I use the Darice ultra fine tip applicator with my glue, goes on exactly where I want it
with out going where I don’t want it.

  38. Milene Tiberius says:

What a great video, Jennifer! Thanks for all the tips! I have recently purchased my very first reverse tweezers, and I’m LOVING it! It makes it soo easy to pick up die cuts or small things as such. I know it’s not an “unknown” product, but I sure recommend it! 🙂

  39. Kara Stainbrook says:

Hands down the Misti.. I’m a newer stamper and I don’t think I could stamp without it..

  40. Denise Terry says:

I take my old, plastic chewing gum containers (the round tubs they now come in) and keep little bits in pieces them. I can label them and stack them. Great cheap find!

  41. Mona Tugan says:

One of the tools I love and wish I had is the Darice Liquid Adhesive Tip. I wish I could find them in the craft stores such as JoAnn’s and Michaels. Love your videos and look forward to each new one! Keep up the good work!

  42. Jodi Warren says:

My favorite tools are the Tim Holtz ruler, with a steel edge, I use a retractable pen knife from Paper Wishes and the hard side of the ruler makes it easier to cut the paper accurately when I can’t get a trimmer to work for the area you are trimming. The second tool Tim Holtz heat gun. it is small and quite and gets the job done. I haven’t tried a fine nosed tip for the multi medium or the glossy accents, but I would be willing to try especially for all the intricate dies I have been recently buying. Thanks for the video’s. I find them very enlightening and creative. Thanks.

  43. Abby says:

I love the tools and toys almost as much as the stamps and ink!

  44. nikki says:

Love my Cutter Bee scissors. These new products look great and they’re not expensive like some tools can be.Thanks for the chance to win.

  45. Dawn B Burke says:

I love so many of my tools. But I have not mentioned one of the tiny tools that I love which is EK tools craft tweezers. I bought a pair of these for every one of my craft stations: die cutting, assembling and stamping and use them all the time.

  46. Kristine Gifford says:

I bought a sand eraser a few months ago after I saw it on one of your posts and I love it! I’ve found it so helpful as I seem to always touch something with a bit of ink on my fingers. It’s saved quite a few cards already!

  47. Jeanne Beam says:

Awesome tools. I would love to win any of them. Thanks for sharing.

  48. Kim says:

I think the MISTI has made the most impact on my crafting. Prior to having it, I shied away from stamping and heat embossing. Now I’m back and better than ever 😉

  49. shanti says:

Thanks for sharing the informations. I am learning a lot from your videos.

  50. Jeanie R says:

I really love your recommendations for crafty tools. One of my favorites is the Tombow sand eraser also. Comes in handy. I would love to try your recommended precision tips. The others I have been using, just don’t do the trick. Thanks for the opportunity to try and win these great items.
