Oh my goodness this card was such fun to make! I had wanted to try out the Chibitronics Chibi Lights LED Circuit Starter Kit and I am so glad I did. It is easy to use.

I started by stamping some adorable images from a three My Favorite Things stamp sets – the new Dragon Stamp Set (SO CUTE), the Beary Special Birthday Stamp Set, and the Big Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set. I colored them in with Copics and poked holes in the flames out of the candles to allow my lights to shine through.

To make the candle flames light up, I created a circuit with the Chibitronics Chibi Lights LED Circuit Starter Kit. This may sound intimidating but I promise it’s not as hard as it sounds! The Chibitronics light kit includes batteries, copper tape, and LED lights to create a circuit to hide in your card. I placed the battery under the dragons belly and the lights under the flames so when you press his belly, it activates the light. Check it out…

I kept the rest of the card simple and heat embossed the background of the notecard with the My Favorite Things Scattered Surface Background Stamp. This is a new favorite background stamp for me because it gives a subtle look that goes with any style of card.

I made sure to put a note on the inside of the card telling the recipient to press the dragon’s belly for a fun surprise. It is a bit pricey to do these cards so I plan to do them only for special occasions. (I was on the fence about them until I gave it a try!) It’s a great learning lesson kids too! My kids love making these types of cards with me.

Oh my gosh! Will they never stop coming up with new things for us to have fun with? Your dragon whose name is Elliot, right, is adorable! If you ever saw the original Pete’s Dragon, not the one coming out now, you will see why I called him Elliot. He looks like your dragon! He’s also a pretty green color and part of the card lights up! How sweet is that? Your right about one thing though. It is way to special to use on everybody’s cards so you have to use it on only a few cards. Besides, I’m sure it gets expensive to be buying a whole bunch of them. Do you know what card those lights would look great on? A Christmas card! A tree with ornaments on it. I wonder if it has to have padding on the envelope so when it goes through the post office, so they don’t accidentally set it off? I mean. what happens if they set it off & then the person gets it and it and it doesn’t work because it was on for quite a while? I think of these things. I wonder if it costs more to mail it? How do you decide whose special enough to even get this particular card? Why do I always think of these things? LOL
Would I like to win this one? You bet I would! Thanks for giving us the chance to win one!
