Oh my goodness this card was such fun to make! I had wanted to try out the Chibitronics Chibi Lights LED Circuit Starter Kit and I am so glad I did. It is easy to use.

I started by stamping some adorable images from a three My Favorite Things stamp sets – the new Dragon Stamp Set (SO CUTE), the Beary Special Birthday Stamp Set, and the Big Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set. I colored them in with Copics and poked holes in the flames out of the candles to allow my lights to shine through.

To make the candle flames light up, I created a circuit with the Chibitronics Chibi Lights LED Circuit Starter Kit. This may sound intimidating but I promise it’s not as hard as it sounds! The Chibitronics light kit includes batteries, copper tape, and LED lights to create a circuit to hide in your card. I placed the battery under the dragons belly and the lights under the flames so when you press his belly, it activates the light. Check it out…

I kept the rest of the card simple and heat embossed the background of the notecard with the My Favorite Things Scattered Surface Background Stamp. This is a new favorite background stamp for me because it gives a subtle look that goes with any style of card.

I made sure to put a note on the inside of the card telling the recipient to press the dragon’s belly for a fun surprise. It is a bit pricey to do these cards so I plan to do them only for special occasions. (I was on the fence about them until I gave it a try!) It’s a great learning lesson kids too! My kids love making these types of cards with me.

NEW MY FAVORITE THINGS

Be sure to head over to My Favorite Things to see their newest release. The dragon set is from it… but there are many other great sets in this release, too. You can find them HERE at MFT or HERE at SSS.
