I really enjoy stamping a bunch of images and then taking them (along with markers and scissors) on the go. This is a great way to make the best use of my time. Today I used some of those on-the-go-colored-images to create surprise spinner cards.

I got carried away with these cards! I stamped a bunch of adorable Clearly Besotted images and went to town. Clearly Besotted has some of easiest-to-color images in any theme you can imagine. Also, there are many images in a set that can be used together for fun scenes or for simple cards. (I used the Trouble in a Tutu, You’re Purrfect, Cheering for You, Best Friends, Some Birdie Loves You, Cool Dude, Jump for Joy, and Out of This World stamp sets.)

Be sure to watch the video to see all the examples I created. Each card has a simple stamped panel on the front… colored with various colors of Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. (I really like the shimmer of these pens. They are fun to take on the go because you can blend them and get watercolor-like coloring. I will have a color chart for you soon!)

In addition to the cheerleading pandas, I also really like the dancing hippos from the new Clearly Besotted Trouble in a Tutu stamp set. Isn’t she cute?

When you open it up, a ballerina pops up and spins. I created this spinning element by stamping, coloring, and cutting two images and gluing them back-to-back with string between. The string is stretched from the front of the card to the back of the card. So easy! However, to have the two images to put back-to-back, the images need to be mirror images of each other. Therefore I did a mirror stamping technique to get the two hippos. But keep in mind – if an image is symmetrical (like the panda above), you don’t need to do mirror stamping – just stamp it twice.

And for all my kitty-loving friends…

The Clearly Besotted You’re Purrfect Stamp Set is so cute! And this jumping/spinning kitten even warms the heart of this dog-lover. 🙂

  2. No, I haven’t ever colored on the go – mainly because I hadn’t thought of that! I may need to give coloring on the go a try.

  3. Hi Jennifer ~ I used to take coloring on the go all the time, but now that my kids are grown and have moved away, I don’t color on the run as much anymore. Other mom’s used to chuckle when they’d see me with my bag of goodies to keep myself occupied during practice and/or games. Thanks for the inspiration….this card is unexpectedly fun! ~HUGS~

  4. I have not yet coloured on the go, But I have watched my friend do it a few times. For the birthday she got a colouring book, I can start now 😀

  5. No, I have not prepared things to do “on the go”. I guess I am lucky in that I don’t really have waiting around time.

I am trying the 30 day color challenge. This weekend I’m going on a short little get away and I packed a couple stamped images along with some copics. Hopefully I can fit in some color time!

  7. As a pediatric nurse, the children often remind you to take a moment and play. Children instinctively know how to help themselves heal. Keep coloring ?

  8. Thanks for sharing such cute cards! I’m constantly going somewhere, but don’t have anyone to wait on since I’m an empty nester; so I don’t color on the go.

  9. I’m not “contained” enough when I colour, or do any sort of craft, I need a lot of space to spread out. I do it on the couch though!

  10. These are too cute and not too hard to do even though they look complicated. I do not colour on the go much as I don’t go too many places but I do sometimes go to my Mom’s with my colouring books and colour together there. Thanks for the chance to win.

  11. I love to color on the go as well! These spinner cards are fabulous, love the sparkle and all the beautiful color to it… Your video was excellent as always and don’t even say otherwise ?!

  21. I have my coloring book packed with my colored pencils. I’ve don’t have the confidence in my copic coloring to take them on the go just yet!

  22. I don’t color on the go. I have thought about it and have even taken a few things with me when I visit out-of-state family but I haven’t used them. Very cute cards, love the spinners!

  24. I love those cards! Kathy has inspired me to color more too! But unfortunately the only time I color on the go is when we go camping, once a month in summer. Thanks for the inspiration!

  25. These are really cute cards with an element of surprise inside. I don’t really color on the go, but I can see where I could have done that when my kids were still living at home and we were on the go a lot more.
