The holidays are approaching and I give a lot of gift cards as gifts. However, I like to present them in ways that are a fun, thoughtful, and different.
And isn’t this My Favorite Things Hot Cocoa Cups die set so fun? After using it to cut from cardstock, I applied color to the edges with a coordinating color of Distress Ink. I think it makes a big difference to add ink to the edges. However, for white die cuts (like the whip cream) I add a light gray Copic Marker (C0 or C00) to the edges. I also die cut a white square from the My Favorite Things Pierced Square die set and stamped a sentiment from the Toasty Greetings stamp set using black ink. After adhering the die cuts to the white square, I applied three strips of foam tape to the back, creating a pocket for the gift card to slip into.
I finished the card off by adhering some die cut marshmallows on top of the whip cream and adding Distress Stickles on top to resemble sugar. For the background, I used a We R Memory Keepers Next Level Embossing Folder with some Hero Arts kraft cardstock. I like to lightly swipe white pigment ink over the raised areas of embossed backgrounds to create highlights and intensify the dimension.
You could combine any die cuts together and form a pocket behind it to create a gift card holder. Great for the holidays!
CHALLENGE UPDATE
I plan to give this card to my mail lady as part of the Share Handmade Kindness Challenge. This week focuses on sharing kindness to those who work/serve in the community and I thought this card would be perfect for that. It’s a great way to show some appreciation.
