Giveaway!

I haven't done a giveaway lately – I think it is time…

Here is a card I made a long time ago at a stamp retreat.  (I so hope I haven't shared it already!)  It literally used scraps and such I had laying on my workspace.  I just love how several of my favorite products landed on one card. 🙂

022309 CTMH

022309 CTMH Close Supplies: BasicGrey patterned paper; Close To My Heart rub-ons; Prima flowers; Hero Arts notecard and pearls; vintage text paper; Tim Holtz Distress Ink and inking tool

So, I thought I would share some of Close To My Hearts' fabulous rub-ons, along with an ink.  These rub-ons have several sheets in a pack – love it.  They have some of my favorite rub-ons!  For a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post telling me your best money-saving tips.  (We could all use a few of those these days, huh?)  On Friday at 11:59pmEDT, I will pick a winner of these goodies…

Prize

Have a good night and good luck!

(Oh, and I am with many of you on DWTS.  Not sure it is still a "family show" for us.  Too much talk of Playboy, jail, jacka** and skimpy outfits.  Not sure yet…)

That card is so cute, loved the use of the flowers and book page.

As for money daving, I am using up what i have in my scrapbook stash, trying at least. I haven’t bought any thing new in 3 months.
Also I have become a coupon fanatic, just yesterday I only paid 99 cents for a big refil pack of diaper wipes.

My money saving tip is Ebay!!! I got so many stuff from Ebay that cost me less than if I buy it at grocery store. My husband takes Prilosec daily and thru Ebay we’re able to get it for much less. Also restaurant.com you can get gift card from local restaurant at 50-75% the actual value. You pay $3 for a $10 gift card, etc. Thanks for teh giveaway.. 🙂

Gorgeous card…LOVE the colors! I try to save money by purchasing whatever I can at my work (major drug store chain in Canada). Our food specials are usually very good and I also get a nice discount AND store points (the points add up to actual $$ cash off). I recently purchased a new camera that retails for $229 and after my dicount and points redemption only cost me just over $50!! Even DH couldn’t argue with that one 🙂

Hmm, my tip is to buy young children’s clothes in the off season ahead of time, one or even two sizes up from where they are now. For instance, in the fall at summer clearance time load up on basic tees and bottoms that will remain in style in a size your little one may be in by next summer. Do the same when stores begin clearing out all those long sleeves and pants in the spring. Small children’s clothes are often slashed to just a few dollars, making it easier to afford a whole new wardrobe, if you plan ahead!

  5. Estivalia says:

I think my favourite “money saving tip” is using my Copic markers (or alcohol inks) to color embellishments (such as pearls and rhinestones). I mean, the markers were a big investment at first but they have payed themselves in the long run 😉

To save money on my stamping projects, I never buy without a 40% (or 50%) off coupon from Michaels or JoAnn (they accept each other’s here). Also, I purchase ribbon and buttons when they are on sell in the sewing dept. I also have found that EBay has many of Hero Arts stamps for less than the web site and the shipping is a lot less.
    P.S. Love your card

  7. Jess Hess says:

How about sharing the cost of things with relatives friends and neighbors. It isn’t just for carpoolers. It can be little things too. Like sharing a packet of seeds you are planting in the garden or a roll of expensive ribbon. My sister and I share all of our crafting tools. Lots of things come in a quantity we don’t need. Why not split the cost and save a little $$$?

  8. kelly says:

I love that card. MY best money saving tips are make your own coffee and bring oyur lunch to work. Not only does it save money, it cuts down on calories too.

  9. Melissa C. says:

Love the card and the colors you used.

To save money, I subscribe the blog “Money Saving Mom.” This girl knows ALL the deals at various stores and links to coupons all the time. I found out about a $5 off coupon for Huggies products the other day and it made my huge pack of wipes just $.99!

  10. Beth C. says:

Your card is gorgeous. My mom once shared a helpful tip and I try to follow it in all my crafting pursuits. Don’t buy something unless you have a plan in mind for it. This has saved me more money and I rarely regret not buying something just because it’s so pretty. Anyway, works for me.

  11. LynetteC says:

My money saving tip is to use coupons. I used coupons alot for scrapbooks stuff and groceries and everyday thing. You may think it a buck here and there. But it really adds up to a big chuck before you realised it.

  12. Tracey says:

    Gorgeous card!!

My best tip is that you should not spend money when you don’t have it!! At least that is how things are going for me. 🙂

  13. Donna McGarry says:

My best money-saving tip? Entering your contests to win supplies instead of buying them! ;o)

  14. kimmie says:

there are so many money saving tips…one is with food, buy bulk and find someone to share it with. You can save hundreds on your bill per month. Also clip coupons, i save on average 70.00 a month just by doing this

  15. Amy says:

My best tip, shop around! And when online shopping forget about your cart for a few days and if you can name ever item in it then you should get it (I bet you can’t remember everything) This helps me to spend next to nothing just by cutting out the impulse buying. Thanks for the chance.

  16. Ritz says:

    I always enjoy visiting you.

I started about a couple of month ago, and it works for me. I plan a weekly dinner menu and figure out what I need to buy at the store and make a list. I try to stick to the list. No impulse buy. If I want to buy snacks, I write it down. So far, I do have some extra money left at the end of each pay period. Hope this helps.

  17. Jennifer says:

Money saving tips… we eat out rarely… I buy meat on sale and make meals ahead and freeze them. I make my own bread, and I am a coupon fanatic. A great book is: Don’t Panic, Dinner’s in the Freezer. Also, the Supper Supper Cookbooks are FABULOUS!

  18. jung a says:

my money saving tip…i recently started to take the clothes from the washer and line dry them until they’re almost dry. then, i stick them in the dryer for about 15 min to get the softness and the smell of bounce (which i love). 15 min in the dryer is way better than 50 min on the electricity (and more eco friendly too)!

  19. lindsey says:

very cute card!! my tip is to start listening to Dave Ramsey or read the Total Money Makeover, its actually fun if you get into it and have an actual (ugh) budget:)

  20. Denise Hunter says:

Wow, your readers have some great ideas. We are really trying to eat out less and checking out sights like http://www.couponmom.com for grocery shopping deals. I have also seen that Walgreens is having some great sales. I love a great deal.

  21. Lori says:

The best way for my family to save money is plan out a weeks worth of meals, make a detailed grocery list then stick to the list at the store. Eating out can eat up all of your budget; no fun in that!

    Thanks for the give-away opportunity!!
    Lori

  22. Kim Dellow says:

Wonderful card, I love the book page.

My money saving tip is using the recycling of packaging in my crafts, so for example any acetate boxes I cut up and reuse as acetate sheets in my projects or as mixing surfaces for paints, glues or mixing promarker colours etc. Great lot of tips you are getting 🙂

    Kim

  23. Anita says:

Cute card! Love the vintage paper.

Here’s my money saving tip. We didn’t rent videos often – but – I’ve just started getting DVDs from the library instead of the video store. FREE entertainment. Watching ‘oldies’ has been really fun and there are lots of classics there that I’ve never seen before. And you can ‘order’ the new releases from the library too.

  24. Hua says:

Just starting to follow you blog. Lving it. Am new to scrapping and loving it. It is spendy so I always look at the clearance section in all the crafts stores. I.E. found Martha Stewart halloween punch for 75 off, something i can use since I haven’t started scrapping yet on all the holidays stuff yet!

  25. Rona says:

I love to save my scraps for cards and also use up leftover rub-ons, diecuts whatever to make adorable cards!! I buy lots of rubber stamps but I never buy embellishments that are just for a card – I buy lots that I use in my scrapbooks and then use the “leftovers” for my cards. I don’t know if that is saving money or just saving guilt. 🙂 I don’t have any great money saving tips, other than bringing my lunch to work, using coupons, using the money saving lightbulbs, etc. I am definately going to try the powerstrip idea!! Thanks for a great blog!!

  26. Maria says:

My best money saving tip is plan two weeks worth of meals and but everything and only everything for those meals. There will be no running to the store for the one ingridient you don’t have (and save yourself from picking up impulse items). Then I keep the menu of the fridge and cross them off as I go. it also saves you from deciding what in the world to make 🙂

  27. Jacklyn H. says:

One thing I do to save money (not sure how much it saves, but anyway…) is I turn the shower down so it isn’t on full blast. It drives my husband nuts, but #1 I can’t stand having the water beating on me so hard and #2 I save about 1/2 the hot water I would normally be using.

Your cards are cute… I love them 😉

  28. Mallory Lynn says:

I take my lunch to work every day! That saves a ton!

  29. Tiffani says:

We do many of the things already mentioned. One way I’ve saved money and time is by trying to do all of our errands when we have to be in town (about a 7 mile drive) for something else, like music lessons.

  30. Bronwyn says:

hmmm…don’t have that many, one for me that i need to start is to do a big grocery shop once a week instead of going every day for something little…i find i spend way more money doing it that way.

  31. Edys says:

I dream with the scrap elements. And I don’t have to go shopping!! hahahhaa

  32. Summer Braxton says:

my best money saving tip for paper crafting is to sell an item before buying something new. For instance, I am wanting a cuttlebug, so I’, selling some stamp sets I rarely use until I get the money for a cuttlebug. The hubby can’t complain with that plan 🙂

  33. tape says:

Fave money saving tip: Make your own embellies using punches and the like.

  34. bunny constabile says:

My tip is….read all of the above tips!!! You ladies are awesome!! and smart too!

  35. I love this card! I shop at thrift stores to save money. I have been able to pick up paper, embellishments and even vintage wallpaper to use in my projects all for a fraction of the price of retail. It’s always an adventure to shop my favorite thrift store to see what I can discover.

  36. Tatum says:

My best money saver? The dollar bin. Don’t you just always find a gem or two (or ten!!). I’m with the other posters. I’m inspired to use scraps to create something else to make people feel special! The rub-ons are great.

  37. EFM says:

Love the cards! My money saving tip is eating in (I LOVE to cook so that makes it easier) and I sometimes make lunch for my husband so he doesn’t have to buy a pricey lunch downtown. Since we have an 18 month old son- we have decided to do “date night” on Sat. nights after he goes to bed. We’ll pick a recipe from one of my fav cookbooks (Barefoot Contessa- yum!) and eat at the dinner table with a glass of wine and some soft jazz in the background. Almost like we are at a restaurant!

  38. Sarah W. says:

We meal plan, use cloth diapers and have turned down the thermostat. Our biggest money saver was turning off the TV (no cable).
    Love the card!

  39. Kit Nelson says:

Beautiful card. Money saving tips for me usually involve recycling. I love to use pop tabs as little buckles, I use any bit of ribbon I get on gifts, ect. I use smashed bottle pop tops for embellishments, old sandpaper to age things… Anything to save a dime :o)

  40. Heather says:

Great card, and great giveaway! I buy things on sale or with coupons. I plan weekly meals according to the front page flyer specials for the week. I know my prices so when ground beef/chicken breasts are at a great price I buy a couple of the big family packs. I’ll make one meal for dinner that night, and then use the rest to put together another 2 or 3 make ahead meals for the freezer. It also saves time because it is so much easier to pull already prepared meals out of the freezer.

  41. Harley says:

Beautiful card! I guess my best money saving tip would be coupons and price matching on groceries. I never clipped coupons until recently, but they really do save a lot of money.

  42. michelle1067 says:

I make my own cleaning products, there are lots of websites with recipes….and they are green and safe for your family and pets! They are also much cheaper-an example: 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup water makes a spray cleaner (don’t like the smell of vinegar add a little lemon juice); makes a great kitchen cleaner and the vinegar kills many varieties of viruses and bacteria.

  43. maryD says:

Great Idea for using up scraps Jennifer. 🙂 I used to be a demonstrator for CTMH quite awhile back when it was D.O.T.S. Stamp Company, which stands for dozens of terrific stamps. I never see any product from them and so would welcome some ink and rub-ons for my crafting supplies! Oh and Happy Birthday to Colin! I saw his card Shari created for him over on Hero Arts blog. Very cute.

  44. Debra E says:

I save money by not going in stores. Simplistic, I know, but if I don’t know it’s there I don’t want it.

  45. Nellie says:

Hi. My way of saving money is to do pretty much everything from scratch. Thanks for the chance. Hugs, Nellie.

  46. Phinny says:

My best money saving tip is to use packaging, which is also better for the environment. Lots of acetate, cardboard and chipboard and also cool designs. Obvious markings can be disguised by making a background with lots of paint, paper and ink. Fun!! ~Oh – I also use packaging for storage, which is another huge benefit. If you can believe it, I store my ribbon / fabric in empty (and clean)cat litter buckets! Hey – it works. It protects it, too. LOL

  47. angela says:

    I use coupons!

  48. maryD says:

I found out that the inside of some of the envelopes you get in the mail are very pretty. So I have been saving the ones I like. I found an idea on someones blog ( I will post later on my blog) on how you can use the inside of the printed envelopes, which usually resemble printed cloth. I don’t watch DWTS. I don’t care for all the useless garb… I would rather watch a good movie or surf all the crafting blogs for ideas while listening to good classical music or peppy techno etc…I can’t wait for it to warm up here so I can be outside.

  49. Cyndi Hoehn says:

    My tips are these:

Take your lunch at least four days a week to work. Turn your thermostat down 2 degrees. If you must buy bottled water, buy a gallon and keep it in the fridge (re-use/re-fill a bottle from before). Look at the bottom shelf for cheaper brands – sometimes. Use washcloths instead of napkins (better for environment, too). Shop for some items at “dollar stores”; toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine products.

Hope these help someone and thanks for a chance to win =)

  50. Liz says:

Love CTMH, however I don’t have these rubons yet *gasp*

Hmm, my money saving tip… when going grocery shopping, I make a list of the upcoming meals and what I need then when I go to the store, I stick to it!! Seems so simple, but it’s something that I struggled with for a long time.
