New Class, Video and a Week of Giveaways?!?

Why not?  I am feeling good this week for many reasons.  One, election day is tomorrow.  And that means no more phone calls (22 today), door-to-door visits (5 today), mailings (I didn’t even count today) for this girl who isn’t loving living in Ohio right now. πŸ™‚  Two, I have lots of good stuff to giveaway, thanks to the generosity of others.  Three, I just am feeling happy. πŸ™‚

So, let’s start with some shares and do a giveaway each day, what do you say?  Why not.

First, I am excited to tell you that I am hosting the Stamp Camp this week at 2Peas.  Click HERE for the details on my projects and HERE for how you can play along to win prizes!  My week is about masking.  The video shows a few types of masking.

This layout is like one I did in the past.  I just love tall and narrow photos from over the years.  It shows regular masking with the trees and ink masking with the grass.

This one shows reverse masking.  Can you tell I like those Thicker letters?  Yum.

Please stop by and say hi over there on 2peas.  I don’t wanna be a loser. πŸ™‚

Guess what I did today?  I sent off the last of the cards that you angels sent for Card Drive for Kids.  They went over in three boxes spaced out over time.  I promise to show pictures of the kids when they get a chance.  They are moving into their house as we speak over there in Liberia.  Praying for them.

Speaking of prayers, I know someone who could use some.  There is this amazing little boy named Keegan who is in Ken’s side of the family.  The moment he was born, the hard battle for his life began.  He has had so many ups and downs, but has proven to be a strong little fighter.  He could use some serious prayers these days.  If you are the praying kind, please say one for Keegan and his parents.  Thank you. (For more information on Keegan, click HERE.  For updates, click HERE.  For some precious photos of the little fighter, click HERE.)  Isn’t he the cutest?  I love how he is smiling here despite all that is happening.  Cute dude.

And to Keegan’s parents – I pray for you every night.  And I can’t wait for Colin to meet your little one someday.  Then he will know who that Keegan is that he prays for every day.

OK…

How about that giveaway?  Sweet April over at Studio Calico offered another kit for me to pass on to one of you lucky winners!  (Maybe I should put my name in the hat – it is a good one!  I must go buy it.)  So, you have until Tuesday at 11:59pmEDT to leave a comment on this post just telling me your favorite recipe for cold days.  (You don’t have to give the recipe, just tell me about it.  I may email you asking for it, though, so I can share it with others!  We are making a huge effort to eat every meal in.)  I will post a winner on Wednesday of this GREAT Fountain Square Studio Calico kit!

SC_Nov_Blog

Also, you still have until late tonight to leave a comment on THIS POST for a chance to win the Jamie Scraps kit.

And, der, I forgot to pick a winner of the Maya Road stamp set from HERE.  Sorry!  The winner is Michelle.  I will email ya.

One more thing: Don’t forget that if you vote tomorrow here in the States, you can get a free Starbucks!  Helps make standing in line for hours worth it, huh?

OK… off to load some cards onto my computer and watch Dancing With the Stars.  I love that Lance is dancing barefoot.  That is my kind of dancing.  Awesome.  Oh wait – that was the phone.  Barack calling.  Argh.  Make that 23 calls.  Night! πŸ™‚

  1. I like to make chili and cornbread on cold days. Both are warm and seem to bring a smile to most of my family and friends faces. I alternate between white chicken chili and a red ground turkey chili. Both are great with cornbread, but the white chili is also great with corn chips.

  2. I’m so happy that you are having a happy day Jen! You deserve to have these everyday :o) As for cold days, since we are moving into summer we have started BBQ weather, love having easy dinners of BBQ and salad. However for those cold days, my favourite is Seafood chowder (yum) and you can’t beat serving it with some super yum garlic bread!! Ok, that makes me want it again, but since its Guy Fawkes over here tonight its definitely a bbq night :o)

  3. My fav cold weather recipe right now is chicken dumplings. I found an amazing recipe from bettycrocker.com that takes 30 mins from ingredient gathering to table that is wonderful! Smells so good when you make it too!

  4. My favorite recipe for cold weather is my grandmother’s homemade chicken noodle soup. My mom makes it and I make it too. Hopefully, my kids will make it when they grow up too.

  5. I love to make turkey’s and especially when it’s cold out…it makes me think of christmas, heats up the house, and then i also have lunch meat for the week,

Love to bake…anything, but my fav’s would be choc chip banana muffins, i have this awsome moist recipe!, and my oma’s spritzkuchen (not sure of the spelling, it’s german) it’s like a shorttbread, sugar cookie and i ice it with a yummy lemony frosting)…i was lucky enough to have her give me the recipe…i don’t think she does it often.

  6. I love White Bean Chicken Chili on cold days. It’s a weight watcher recipe, but it is YUMMY!!
As for DWTS, Lance is my favorite! Too bad we have to wait ’til tomorrow for the results show…

  7. My favorite meal for cold days is: crock pot stew… it not only is so easy it makes the house smell amazing and is delicious…. and tastes good for lunch the next day! yummy….

  8. Sour cream mashed potatoes with gravy yummy and usually chicken or meatloaf doesnt matter which bc its usually the mashed potatoes that i am excited for. warm apple crisp for dessert. thanks for the chance to win!

  9. Being a Southern Californian, my favorite recipe for a cold (read 55 degrees) is Chili. I love to make it with ground turkey so it is a little bit healthy and red kidney beans. Yummy, especially topped with sour cream onion and grated cheddar. Thanks for your great blog!!

  10. Another great video- thanks Jennifer. For cold days it’s gotta be beef and red wine casserole- mmmmm. I love casseroles in winter, b/c the oven warms up the house a bit (no central heating here) AND you can use cheaper cuts of meat and vegies AND it cooks in the oven by itself (sort of!)

  11. My all time favourite recipe would be Chicken Soup with Rice and Veges.
It’s super chunky and the rice just adds even more good yummy thickness to it!

  12. Mmmmm I’m thinking:
Crusty white bread rolls smothered in butter that you use to dip into steamy hot beef stew and vegetables with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and then a mug of hot chocolate for dessert :o)

  13. My favorite meal is a beef/veggie stew that I make with ground beef, ground pork, spices, tomato sauce & whatever veggies are on hand. I serve it over cornbread and savor the leftovers for days! πŸ™‚

  14. My favorite cold weather recipe is for Potato Soup! We may need it this weekend but today the temp was up to 70!!! LOVE IT!!

  15. My favorite is my grandmother’s chili. I actually need to get her recipe, because I don’t know how she makes it. I just know it’s fantastic!! πŸ˜€

  16. Some of our favorite cold-weather meals are:
homemade vegetable beef soup or many-bean soup, which has chicken, sausage and lots of carrots in it – yumm! These take awhile to make, but you don’t need anything else but some good warm bread, and they make enough for lots of meals (and they both seem to get better on reheating).
And I guess my very favorite, macaroni and cheese. Our recipe has cottage cheese in it, also, so there’s extra protein. We usually have that with hot dogs, kielbassi, brats, etc. Or, how about some chili? Our kids used to love the version that had hot dogs in it, and then it was served with shredded cheese, chopped onions, and corn chips. Again, nothing else needed but maybe a salad.

  17. My favorite recipe for cold days – white chili – it is made with navy beans, boneless chicken, green chiles. YUM!

  18. my favorite winter recipe would have to be a wonderful beef stew. This is such a beautiful kit! Thanks for the chance to win it.

  19. Poor little guy. Isn’t interesting that those who suffer most have the sweetest spirits. My heart and prayers are with he and his family.

  20. Hey! Always love your videos-so inspirational!! The colors in the studio calico kit are my favorites–feeling like I could do alot with this kit!!

  21. My favorite recipe for cold days is my mom’s chicken and dumplings. She really doesn’t have a recipe for it though, so it’s going to take me a while to get it down!

  22. My favorite cold winter recipe is a quick and easy chicken noodle soup with tons of yummy egg noodles and very little broth. It hits the spot every time!

  23. Um, not sure I have just one, I think it’s a tie between chili or roasted garlic rice bean tomato soup & cornbread – yum, almost can’t wait for it to get cold.

    Thanks for sharing!!!

  24. one of my favorite cold weather meals: baked potato soup topped with bacon crumbles, sour cream and cheese. mmmmm. cheese. another favorite cold weather meal would be my husband’s chili…. again topped with cheese. mmmmmm. cheese. notice a trend here?!

  25. I love making Bishop’s Taco Soup on cold nights for my family! I top it with grated cheese and corn chips! It’s so yummy, fills you up and there are always left-overs for the next night!

  26. My favourite recipe for cold days is hot miso ramen with pork slices! I don’t cook very good authentic ramen though … πŸ˜€

  27. I love Green Tea Chai mix from Oregon Chai i think. you mix it half and half with Chai mix and milk – i use Rice milk and it is yummy. another fav is the hazelnut hot Choc. mix from tastefully simple but i dont think you can get it anymore – smells great too.
