Some scraproom answers, a video and a giveaway. :)

Gonna try to make this post quick – I think my allergies are turning into a cold.  Crud.

I have some scraproom answers, a video and a giveaway. 🙂

Thanks for all the nice comments about my scraproom.  I do love it down there.  And I am so thankful the kids like to be down there as much as me.  A few answers to questions:

  • I got the buttons on the wall from Pottery Barn when they went on super clearance.  I bet you can find them on ebay.  The scissors are from Hobby Lobby.
  • My room isn’t always that clean. 🙂  I get a lot of shipments of products (this is my job) so it is hard to keep up with putting things away.  But I really try.  The kids are very helpful.
  • The little white drawers from Ikea – yes, they don’t have labels.  I move things around so much that I decided not to put any labels on them.  But I remember where everything is – it is that engineer mind of mine.  🙂
  • Those little white drawers were first sanded, then primed, then painted with semi-gloss white trim paint.
  • I haven’t measured the room, but Ken guesses it is 15′ x 25′.
  • The punches hang on the pegboard with little metal shelves and hooks.  You can get all kinds of different ones at Home Depot for super cheap.
  • I do have a lot of stamps, but keep in mind that I work for Hero Arts, so I have all of their stamps. I could never have paid for them all! 🙂  (And this is another reason I give a lot away – I like to pay it forward.)

Now it’s time for a video!  I am leading the fourth week of Stamp Camp over on 2peas.  Click HERE for information and close-ups and HERE for a thread about the camp.  And if you play along, you could win a great prize!  Here is the video and projects…

Now… a giveaway!  Fiskars is so generous… and they sent me two of a stamp set.  So… one could be yours.  Just leave a comment on this post by 11:59pmEDT on Thursday telling me what your first stamp you got was (if you remember!).  I will then pick a winner of this great Heidi Grace set…

BTW… my first stamp was a Hero Arts flower.  Funny, huh?  I remember when I first started scrapbooking, I told my brother and Ken that I would NEVER buy stamps… “why would anyone want to buy a stamp when you could print clip art for free?”  Boy, did I eat my words, huh?  Now I can’t imagine creating without a stamp.  Hee…

OK… have a great night!

Absolutly love your scraproom! I am in hopes my hubby will build me one of my own so we can have our bedroom as a bedroom instead of a scrap room with a bed in the middle…lol

I started buying Hero Arts stamps about 15-16 years ago. I honestly can’t remember what the first one was. Back then my kids were little and so I did a lot of artsy/crafty projects at school with them, so I would have to guess holiday related stamps:Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc.

  9. Angela M. says:

My first stamp was a swirl stamp from Close to My Heart years ago. That was my first stamp that I bought for scrapbooking. My grandfather made stamps as a business when I was little, so my actual first stamp was my name made by him. I still have it!

  10. Linh C. says:

I don’t have that many stamps (gasp!), but I still don’t remember what my first stamp was. Probably an alpha set.

  11. Debbie says:

My first stamp was a self inking smiley face, when I was a very young child. As an adult though, my first stamps were from hero arts & all night media – teddy bears & cats.

It must have been something teacher-related like “Good job” or “A+.”

My first stamp was mistletoe because I had decided to make my Christmas cards. I was so clueless. I think I stamped them on typing paper and also tried to emboss with glitter and dye ink. Needless to say, it didn’t work, but I was still completely hooked!

  16. Michele Williams says:

My first stamp was a set from Stampin Up, a Halloween set, it’s so old I can’t remember the name of the set, but that was way back in 1997! I still have it, in fact I used most of them this past Halloween.

  17. Tanya says:

The very first stamp I remember buying was not too long after I started scrapbooking and I was doing a lo about my dog and I needed a pawprint. Couldn’t find a sticker that I liked, so I bought a stamp for a ridiculous amount of money and only ever used it that one time! Now I buy the acrylic stamps only, because I feel they are a much better deal…and I don’t buy them unless I know I can use them several times!

  18. Jo-Anne says:

I bought my first stamp about 13 years ago – and still have it! It’s an All Night Media dolphin 😉

  19. Sanji says:

My first stamp was a bride and groom stamp that I had bought for my wedding invitations. I can’t remember the brand though. My husband helped me pick it out. Thanks!

My first stamp I ever bought was from CTMH. I went to a party and bought an alphabet and I was hooked. I own tons now.

  21. Sarah says:

My first stamp was a Christmas set. I am first a scrapbooker and second a stamper and I too asked “Why would I buy stamps? My pagese are perfectly fine with paper, ribbons, buttons, etc.” If only you could see my walk in closet now!

  22. Rachelle Sims-Keranen says:

My first stamp was heart; I’d gotten a gift certifiate for my birthday to the local scrapbooking store and bought it and a pink ink pad : ) I went looking for that stamp awhile ago but can’t find it now! and I really needed a heart; turns out I don’t have any other heart stamps!

  23. Jan says:

Wish I could say I remembered the first stamp I got. But, I can’t. Every time I buy a new stamp it is as if it becomes my new first stamp since I love it so much.

  24. Leigh says:

My first stamp set was a Artfully Asian from SU.

  25. Jaded says:

I just got started with stamping and cardmaking so I definitely remember my first stamp. It was the Clear Expressions – Best Birthday stamp set. I used it to make a birthday card for my hubby. Considering that card and where I am today, I’ve made a lot of progress thanks to the tutorials that you and KWerner have shown through your videos. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your craft space. It’s amazing!

  26. Sharon says:

I know as a kid I had a frog stamp. As a purchase, several years ago “Small Leaf Impressions” by Hero Arts (really!!). Little DD and I made some note cards for an environmental center where I volunteer. They send a lot of “thank you” cards. I just stamped onto the cheap “bag of 25” cards you get at Hobby Lobby. This was waaaay before I knew about card making!

  34. Sandy F. says:

Jennifer – wow, your room is incredible, what a great place for you to work and your kids to hang out. When I first started stamping, years ago, Posh Impressions was a stamp store in my local mall here in Irvine, CA. I took lessons from Dee Gruenig. My first rubber stamp was a solid bunch of balloons on strings, with Happy Birthday etched out of one of them. Now that was a while ago.

  35. Kerri Norrod. says:

My first stamps were an alphabet set by making memories.

My first stamp was a set of small wood-mounted alphabet stamps. Great for small titles and sentiments because they can be placed any ol’ way on the page/card.

  40. Jan says:

My first stamp was a unmarked little stamp from a craft show that said ‘Handmade by’ inside a little frame. I didn’t do paper crafts then – mostly needlework, crochet, quilting etc. I’m not sure if I ever used the stamp though…

  41. Brenda says:

I love these resist techniques! My first stamp was a “Handmade By…” stamp, because I was into handmaking goodies for quite a while before I got into stamping. I still use it to this day!

  42. Sue L says:

My first stamp was a Person Impressions tiny Dragonfly that came with mini cards and envelopes. I still have the stamp and use it when making collage backgrounds. Going for another look around your lovely room now.

  43. Nancy Snyder says:

Omigosh, Jennifer, your videos are awesome! Love your stamping studio…I am completely green with envy but happy for you.

My first stamp set (Stampin’ Up’s “Love without End”) was purchased after my BFF Anita brought her stamping supplies when she came to Indiana for a visit. She gave me a personal stamp camp where we made cards, and I was IMMEDIATELY hooked. I still have that set but now it’s one of hundreds.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the Fiskars stamp set.

    Warmest regards,
    Nancy

  47. Angela says:

When I was about 11 I was in the hospital alot. The gift shop had rubber stamps that my parents would buy for me so I could create things in my hospital room. My first one was a bear holding a heart. Because I’m a heart patient I have lots of heart things. I have no idea what brand it is, I still have it though. thanks for the chance to win….for paying it forward. You’re too sweet!

  48. Leah Jorgensen says:
