Some scraproom answers, a video and a giveaway. :)

Gonna try to make this post quick – I think my allergies are turning into a cold.  Crud.

I have some scraproom answers, a video and a giveaway. 🙂

Thanks for all the nice comments about my scraproom.  I do love it down there.  And I am so thankful the kids like to be down there as much as me.  A few answers to questions:

  • I got the buttons on the wall from Pottery Barn when they went on super clearance.  I bet you can find them on ebay.  The scissors are from Hobby Lobby.
  • My room isn’t always that clean. 🙂  I get a lot of shipments of products (this is my job) so it is hard to keep up with putting things away.  But I really try.  The kids are very helpful.
  • The little white drawers from Ikea – yes, they don’t have labels.  I move things around so much that I decided not to put any labels on them.  But I remember where everything is – it is that engineer mind of mine.  🙂
  • Those little white drawers were first sanded, then primed, then painted with semi-gloss white trim paint.
  • I haven’t measured the room, but Ken guesses it is 15′ x 25′.
  • The punches hang on the pegboard with little metal shelves and hooks.  You can get all kinds of different ones at Home Depot for super cheap.
  • I do have a lot of stamps, but keep in mind that I work for Hero Arts, so I have all of their stamps. I could never have paid for them all! 🙂  (And this is another reason I give a lot away – I like to pay it forward.)

Now it’s time for a video!  I am leading the fourth week of Stamp Camp over on 2peas.  Click HERE for information and close-ups and HERE for a thread about the camp.  And if you play along, you could win a great prize!  Here is the video and projects…

Now… a giveaway!  Fiskars is so generous… and they sent me two of a stamp set.  So… one could be yours.  Just leave a comment on this post by 11:59pmEDT on Thursday telling me what your first stamp you got was (if you remember!).  I will then pick a winner of this great Heidi Grace set…

BTW… my first stamp was a Hero Arts flower.  Funny, huh?  I remember when I first started scrapbooking, I told my brother and Ken that I would NEVER buy stamps… “why would anyone want to buy a stamp when you could print clip art for free?”  Boy, did I eat my words, huh?  Now I can’t imagine creating without a stamp.  Hee…

OK… have a great night!

Great how-to-video Jennifer. Thanks for sharing your time. Twelve years ago I saw a few handmade cards on the wall at Michaels Craft Store and loved it. So I bought a stamp made by Co-motion. It is a pair of kitties sitting together with their tails wrapped together. That started a whole new world of Art for me. I then was introduced to a catalog from Stampin’Up then D.O.T.S. That’s when I decided to become a Demonstrator for dots stamps. They didn’t sell too well so I quit. People liked Stampin’Up stamps better. I then found Hero Arts stamps at Crafts Mania Store and loved their style so I started collecting stamps from them. So I really love to learn new ways to use stamps.

I’m having trouble finding the Ink applicators with foam pads. I can only find the felt ones and they don’t seem to work too well for this. Do you have any idea where to get them? Your post on 2peas shows the felt ones. Thanks Jennifer!

  18. Eleanor says:

My first stamp was a John Bull printing set some 40 years ago. I could never line up the letters neatly, and guess what? I still can’t, it just doesn’t matter so much now, lol.

I think my first stamp was a cute country snowman set from Stampin’ Up. It was soooo long ago!
    Thanks!

  43. DeniseLynn says:

Oh my it was so many years ago! I think it was a little baby footprint stamp so I could help a friend announce her baby but I’ve no clue what company it was. That was like a lifetime ago – and imagine this, only one store in my town even sold stamps and most of them were country geese! hahaha. Gives new meaning to the quote: “We’ve come a long way baby”

  44. Margaret says:

My first stamp i still have was a Pig from a company called Stampabarbara. I have passed it on to my youngest of five children(she is 4)

  45. Michele Marshall says:

    Michele M

  46. Pat Woodruff says:

My first stamp was a Christmas tree and a Merry Christmas that I got after watching a demo at a big craft fair in Portland. I watched them emboss and I have been hooked ever since. I made all my Christmas cards that year and was so proud. It must be 16 years ago.

  47. Debbie S. says:

I wish I remembered. I have a feeling I placed an order from Stampin Up for lots of stamps.

  48. Jennifer McGuire says:

I went to a Stampin Up party when I was in HS to impress my boyfriend’s mom…LOL. I ended up buying a whole set of Christmas stamps….but you know…I really still like them…not the boyfriend, though!

  49. Kimberly says:

My first set was CTMH Celebrations. It has a sampling of greetings for birthday, baby, thank you, congrats etc. I too thought why would someone want to do alllll the work involved with stamping and coloring. Then I found acrylic stamps and thought they were amazing!! Suddenly it looked like fun and not work!!

  50. Lynsey says:

My very first stamp was a ballerina teddy bear, and it was the kind where the stamp has a handle shaped like what is on the rubber, and the ink pad snaps on like a cover. It was on a necklace, and the bear handle had a pink tutu.

Of course, I was seven when I got this stamp.

My first “real” stamp, though, was a Stampin’ Up personalized stamp with my first name, Lynsey, on it. It’s probably my most used stamp because I put it on the back of any cards I make, and occasionally on scrapbook layouts, too.
