Here is the first video for today. It focuses on my favorite dies…

WORD DIES

I use word dies quite often on cards. With stamped sentiments, you have to find a smooth place on your card to put them. With die cut sentiments, they can go anywhere and add dimension. Here are some of this year’s favorites:

BACKGROUND DIES

Background dies tend to be higher priced than most crafting products. Therefore, you want to be sure you invest in good ones! I think these all have a lot to offer for a variety of styles and fun techniques:

MUST-HAVE DIES

Here are some dies that are useful for many types of cards. They can be used in so many ways!

OTHER DIES

Here are some other fun dies that caught my eye this year:

If you are looking for the card examples I shared in this video, you can enter the product name in the “search” bar at the top of my blog and you will find them!

DIE CUTTING ESSENTIALS

Here is a video showing die cutting essentials and embossing folders…

EMBOSSING FOLDERS

I also wanted to include a few embossing folders on my must-have list this year…

For your chance to win a giveaway, leave a comment below by 11:59pmEST on 12/5/16 telling me your favorite dies from above. (The winner’s name will be randomly selected, emailed and posted on my “Winners page” after the giveaway closes. International folks are eligible, too.)

[Please note that I purchased most of the products in this post personally, but not all. However, the decision to include them in this list was my own. I truly like these products and companies.]

Love your suggestions on some of the favourites I haven’t tried. I do use a LOT of dies in my cardmaking as I find that they are a quick way to have a focal point or to finish off a card. Your storage solutions are great and I have adopted the system — just need to find space for everything!!!!

  45. Hi Jennifer!

I really enjoyed watching this particular video on Things You Use to Color! I am thrilled to see that the Tom Bow markers are water based. The colors are beautiful and do blend beautifully! Do you find that you can use Tom Bow markers directly on stamps or does it fray the nib?

For my water based markers I have been using Tim H’s Distress Markers. I do not have the bright colors. I find the “older” distress colors fit most of my watercoloring needs wonderfully. They have a nice brush and a very thin nib side.

I do want to continue filling in my Distress Ink Pads with the smaller sizes. I like the convenience of keeping the round sponges right under the base, and storing them in those adorable boxes is a big plus too.

    He
I love my Prismacolor Pencils! I am committing right here, right now that the next time I use them they will be on a dark cardstock, and the next time on Kraft colored paper. I have seen you and others work magic on the Kraft paper.
