Here is the first video for today. It focuses on my favorite dies…

[Warning: This video is long. You can instead just check out the stamps below. All products are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails. Affiliate links may be used. To watch the video in HD on YouTube, click HERE.]

If you are interested in any products, click on one of the abbreviations under the product images… SSS for Simon Says Stamp, EH for Ellen Hutson or the manufacturer’s abbreviation.

WORD DIES

I use word dies quite often on cards. With stamped sentiments, you have to find a smooth place on your card to put them. With die cut sentiments, they can go anywhere and add dimension. Here are some of this year’s favorites:

BACKGROUND DIES

Background dies tend to be higher priced than most crafting products. Therefore, you want to be sure you invest in good ones! I think these all have a lot to offer for a variety of styles and fun techniques:

MUST-HAVE DIES

Here are some dies that are useful for many types of cards. They can be used in so many ways!

OTHER DIES

Here are some other fun dies that caught my eye this year:

If you are looking for the card examples I shared in this video, you can enter the product name in the “search” bar at the top of my blog and you will find them!

DIE CUTTING ESSENTIALS

Here is a video showing die cutting essentials and embossing folders…

Here are my recommended die cutting products:

EMBOSSING FOLDERS

I also wanted to include a few embossing folders on my must-have list this year…

For your chance to win a giveaway, leave a comment below by 11:59pmEST on 12/5/16 telling me your favorite dies from above. (The winner’s name will be randomly selected, emailed and posted on my “Winners page” after the giveaway closes. International folks are eligible, too.)

[Please note that I purchased most of the products in this post personally, but not all. However, the decision to include them in this list was my own. I truly like these products and companies.]

There is really too many I like. My first pick would be Hero Arts star confetti die. Then I like the Hero Arts circle confetti….Birch Press Dazzle and Sevilla….Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Outline and Stacked Stars Die and MFT Stylish Snowflakes….the snowflakes are Beautiful.

  2. Stacey White says:

I love embossing folders and dies, these videos were so fun to watch!

  3. Gail Plaskiewicz says:

Oh my gosh, what great dies! To bad I don’t have a die cutter at home. However, the Peek A Boo Polka Dots and Star Covered Plate dies look like I could use them as stencils. I don’t need a machine to do stencils. I love the snowflakes too but they don’t look like they can be used as stencils. Darn it all! I want a die cutter so bad! Maybe we can all pitch in and get me one for Christmas? LOL It’s nice to see you recommend things and not because someone asked you to but because you actually use them and love them. To me that’s a reason to buy something, not because someone is pressuring you to buy something. Whenever I buy anything from HSN or Amazon, I always check out the reviews first before I purchase anything. If it looks good but has gotten a lot of bad reviews, it’s a no go. People are always trying to sell you something and then you get it home and it stinks! I want people who have used it or read it or whatever, to tell me if they like it or not because I can’t tell just by what the manufacturer or infomercial are saying. After all, they want to sell their product. Someone said to me that they never print bad reviews but they do and I’ve seen them. Thanks for giving us a chance to win something ! I love a contest!

  4. Rissa says:

  11. Thanks for another fantastic video (or 2 videos!). I’m guessing you want us to share our favourite dies now? Mine would definitely be the Lil Inker diamond lace die (on my wishlist forever), and the Birch Press dies – I first saw them on the Poppystamps blog a while ago, and fell in love, but they’re unfortunately too expensive… maybe one day! 🙂

Love all of the background dies–the ones from Birch Press are so unique but way out of my price comfort zone. So that leaves my favourite as the Diamond Lace from Lil Inkers. Thanks for the tip to use a magnetic bowl to hold dies; I am always afraid I will misplace the smallest ones in a set.

  23. Majda says:

My favourite die from the ones above is the Small Stitched Envelope Die by Lawn Fawn. I don’t have it yet but have it definitely on my wishlist. 🙂

  25. Gabriella says:

Hmm,I like your videos, they were informative. I still wonder if you own a digital/electronic cutter and if so which is your fave. In your giveaway section for dies it says leave which stamp set you like best, I think you mean which dies you like best. I would like any of the background dies you featured because they all seem useful. I don’t have any background dies. I have a sizzix big shot and I love it, mostly I have dies that go around stamps and few similar ones to your essentials. Have a great day!

  26. vivien lee says:

I love the background dies, esp the Ellen Background Stitched plate!

  31. Andrea Soule says:

Pick one? How am I supposed to pick one?? I want them all!! I guess if I had to choose it would be the Lawn Fawn pop-up. That seems like a fun card idea. But I also love the sentiments and those 3D embossing folders.

  32. Amy Lee says:

I am also just in love with stitching line dies as they give you so many options for how to use them but the stitched background die from Ellen Hutson would be an awesome die to add to my collection.

Thank you for all the vids that you shared.

  49. Joyce says:

Those Birch Press dies are impressive. Very unique and creative.

  50. Rita & Jon Franz says:

My favorite is the Birch Press Sevilla Layering Die Set. Since the 1970’s I have been working in retail. After a while you begin to dread the holidays. Even though we are Born Again Christians it makes you sad that people forget what the holiday is really about. Two year ago my husband and I started to celebrate Hanukkah instead. We found a wonderful You Tube channel on how to celebrate Hanukkah from a Christian point of view.
This die set would be perfect for those who celebrate Hanukkah.
