  3. Yvette Williams says:

Hello Jennifer, I have not used Copics before, but I have invested in spectrum noir. I still have trouble using them and I believe the techniques are similar even though the colors are different.
I have gotten into the card making world once I went on permanent disability. Coloring and being creative seems to soothes the pain and the mind. I don’t have the income to pay for the class, but I look forward to watching any techniques on YouTube.

I have used Copics but must confess I could use some help in shading, hair coloring etc…I have seen some coloring by others that just have my jaw dropping and I could learn to be 1/2 as good I would be thrilled.

  16. Fay Salkus says:

I have been using Spectrum Noir markers for about 6 months. I am thing of investing in some copic marker to see the difference. I love how the markers blend but I an having problems with bleeding with the darker shades. I believe I would benefit by taking a class.

  21. Susan M. Shinagawa says:

Hi Jennifer! I’m always excited when I learn about a new OCC, but I have to admit that, as much as I’d LOVE to learn all the ins and outs of Copic coloring, I’m afraid I’ll get hooked! Much like Yvette Williams (who posted her comment at 2:29P today, 9/09), I am permanently disabled (since 1996), thus our household income took a HUGE hit. Copic markers are so costly, especially given ALL the different colors and shades one could purchase. Like Yvette, I, too, invested in a partial set of Spectrum Noir markers — before they offered brush tips, which makes it difficult to do many of the techniques used by Copic owners. I worry that taking the class will compel the right side of my brain to buy, buy, BUY Copic markers… YIKES!!

With my limited crafting budget, I find stamps, inks & dies are a better investment for what I enjoy doing (and all the techniques I’ve learned from you, Kristine, Shari, Julie, and the many other talented card makers from your OCC)! Still, I’d love to learn Copic techniques, because (just like Yvette) being able to be creative (and enjoying others’ creativity) is a welcome, albeit temporary distraction from my intractable chronic pain, and absolutely helps to soothe the mind (as Yvette so eloquently stated).

I don’t know Yvette, and had never before read any of her Comments. However, I do know what it’s like to live with chronic pain so severe that it renders you permanently disabled. Although it won’t make the pain go away, I know that “winning” something as generous, yet simple, as free enrollment in one of your OCC courses will absolutely make the time spent reading & watching the class lessons (and hopefully trying the techniques), less painful and significantly more enjoyable. All this said, I don’t know how you select the lucky few who win your wonderful and generous prizes, but I hope you’ll consider Yvette Williams for this (or some future) giveaway. And if, by some random chance, I am selected for your OCC “Copic Markers for Card Makers” class, please award it, instead, to Yvette Williams. ☺

Many thanks, be well and take good care.
