Textured Die Cuts

Hello!

Just sharing a card I did for Paper Crafts magazine awhile back. Lots of texture. Lots of die cutting…

I used my Vagabond and the Tim Holtz heart dies to cut these hearts from various materials – felt, wood, cork, corrugated board and canvas. (The Vagabond cuts through anything like butter.)

The greeting and fun buttons are from Stampin’ Up and the background is Unicorn Pigment Ink with a Hero Arts background on a kraft notecard

Oh – that greeting is one stamp that I cut up to be in three parts.

I often forget to die cut things other than paper. There are so many fabulous textures out there! What are your favorites to use?

Before I go, it is time for some winners! The winner of some Chic Tags goodies is Amber B and the winner of the Tattered Floral Die is Chris. I emailed you.

See you soon.

  1. It´s always very beautiful to add some texture to any project, no matter if it´s a card or something else, and you did a great job here doing that Jenniffer. I love, how you put this together, it looks awesome.

  2. That’s such a cool idea. You really are brilliant at thinking up wonderful ideas. Love the mixed textures.

  3. Great card – going to make one for future DIL. I forget that I can cut other things than paper with my dies and my Big Shot Express (electronic one before the Vagabond came out). I love the canvas you cut out and there are so many pretty floral canvas/duck cloth prints out for summer in the fabric stores right now!!!

  4. Great card!

I’ve only die cut paper so far. I’m going to try my hand at cutting some thin wood veneer.

I know the TH Sizzix steel dies can cut almost anything. Have you had the same success with thin wafer dies? I’m a little afraid to try in case I damage my dies.

  5. Thanks for the reminder that there is more to die cut than paper. I’ve done felt, and like the results. Now I must remember to try other textures.

  6. Just discovered canvas and the tattered floral die works great. Going to the senior center to make canvas flower pins and magnets next week. Can’t wait to play!

  7. Hi, I have been looking on April 3rd, for the 14 winners from the Simon Says Stamp Blog Hope, and have only managed to find 2! Is there a list that you could post the link to? if possible of course. I don’t see much said about it after the fact. Thanks so much. I enjoy seeing their products and creativity very much! All the best.

  8. I love texture and your hearts definitely have me pining for a manual die cut machine with some oomph (I have a Sizzix Sidekick which cuts up to 3ish” wide, but can’t handle thicker materials.) The colors you used are also so wonderful – the blues and neutrals are so lovely together! Great sentiment, too! Thanks so much for sharing your creation and inspiration!
