Ahhhh… yes. I have fallen back in love with felt and stitching. I am hoping it makes a huge comeback! One of the best lines of felt for cardmaking is from My Favorite Things. It comes in lovely colors (not like the icky colors at the big craft stores) and a nice thickness that works great for die cutting. I found that when die cutting felt with intricate dies, it was best to adhere the felt to a piece of paper first…. giving the die cuts a paper backing. This gives it stability and makes it easier to work with. For this card, I die cut My Favorite Things felt with their Fresh Cut Flowers and “thank you” dies

I added all the die cut felt pieces with Matte Multi Medium to a background cut with a faux-stitched frame die. For a nice finishing touch, I added hand-stitching with my new favorite silver thread. (This thread rocks and is inexpensive… and also comes in gold and light gold.)

  1. Remarkable card! the work of your hands are truly blessed! So sad i missed the boat on the jmfriends discount Doh! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas.

  2. How do you do it? Yet another wonderful technique learned from the great Jennifer McGuire! What are you the craft whisperer? You are awesome and I so appreciate all that I have learned from you. Thanks again Jennifer!

  3. Love the card.. So very pretty! I enjoy making handmade cards also. I think they mean more than going and buying one at the store and people like them more too. I like this tip I will have to try this. I have a lot of fun foam left from childrens projects & have been trying to find a way to use it. would it work too? I did not want to try it and tear up my Cuttlebug before asking someone else that may know more about it. So what do you think? Hope I win the contest! Everytime I enter one I never seem to win one.. Maybe I will win this one! Thank you & God bless 🙂

  4. Jennifer – I love all of your videos…..I get so much inspiration from them. I fell in love with this card and after seeing the video, decided that I had to make this myself! I ordered the felt and dies and ran them thru my Vagabond. When I removed the felt, it fell apart from the die, mostly, the stems. After watching the video again, I realised that I’d forgotten the part where you said to glue paper to the felt so that it would be more stable and it would not tear!
SO…..first thing tomorrow, I will get out my glue stick and paper. I am sorry I didn’t remember that part…..but, you are right about the felt. It is so soft and the colors are really pretty.
    Thanks again, Jennifer!

  5. Your cards are really getting me in the mood for holiday stamping! The creativity is flowing!
    Thank you,

  6. Hello,
I have just begun to work with felt and am interested in the die cut method. I watched your video on die cutting various shapes. I have looked at your site and seen a great selection of dies. I am unfamiliar with the process and the machine that the dies go into. Can you direct me to a place where I might see the machines available as well?
    Thank you so much.
    Patti

  7. Hello, this is a really great tutorial.

Can you tell me if this works on thick felt of about 4 cm also???? Or on cardboard ? What is the maximum thickness you can cut with this kind of Die Cutting Machine?

    Thanks
