Coming back with a bang… and giveaways…

Hey, folks.

Sorry that I went MIA for a few days.  Just needed to take a break.  I finally got back to creating Saturday afternoon.  And it felt good.  So good.

So, now I am back with lots to share this week.  Projects.  Enabling.  Links.  Giveaways.  Let's get going…

First – someone asked for a closer look at the two layouts that were in the recent CK.  I don't have great photos, but maybe these will help.  (BTW, the recent issues of CK have rocked.  I tore out lots of ideas from the June issue!)

Layout 2 - Mat Photos - Blog(c) Creating Keepsakes – June issue

Layout 1 - Background of Trims - Spirits(c) Creating Keepsakes – June issue

Next up: Found some great shopping. How about a bit of enabling?

  • I am adding THIS to my scrapbook room door.
  • New Doodlebug.  I have always been a Doodlebug fan.  Their products always make me smile.  And better yet, the people who work there are true gems.  THESE are adorable.  They always use the best fonts, and THESE mini rub-ons are must-haves.  They come in lots of colors.
  • Ah… and step aside, Cuttlebug.  Quickutz has some rockin' embossing folders now HERE.  My favorite?  THIS 12" border.  Great for pages and cards.  (And, yes, you can use them with your Cuttlebug.)
  • Speaking of Quickutz, I am lovin' on THIS die set.
  • I really like papers that you can cut out lots of different borders from, etc.  THIS one from Cosmo Cricket – yum.
  • One of my favorite things to do in the evening is to search around on Etsy.  I fill up my cart…  dig through it… save many to favorites… and then buy nothing.  Ha.  Actually, I do buy there pretty often – I like the idea of supporting handmade.  I get lots of shirts for Colin there, jewelry for the girls and gifts for friends.  (And, if you Twitter, I often share links to my favorite finds there.)  Anyway, I just saw THESE and will be getting them for the girl's bedroom doors.  And it is always fun finding bargins like THIS.  Hee.  If you like jewelry, THIS is my favorite seller.  And THIS is my favorite necklace.

How about some links?  Here are some for ya from 2peas…

  • THIS page by Peg Manrique is fantastic.  Fun colors and such, but the focus stays on the photo.  Perfect.
  • Shannon Tidwell does such fun pages.  THIS one just made me smile.  The title and accents are perfect.
  • THIS is an AMAZING page by Kelly Purkey.  Fun in every way.  Boy, I sure wish I had access to her closet. 🙂
  • Moon Ko is so talented.  THIS is so classy.
  • Nichol Magouirk rocked this Garden.  Love THIS and THIS is the greatest page of all time.
  • It wouldn't be a new Garden without a page to love from Robyn.  THIS is fantastic.

HERE is a set of cards I did.  Super quick, thanks to the help of die cuts and fancy paper. 🙂

And, HERE are two more cards I did using Crackle Paint and Glimmer Mist.  A strange combo, but it looks cool in real life – the shimmer gets in the crackles and shines a ton.  Here is one of the cards…

Last but not least, how about a giveaway?  Or two?  I was going through my brads and realized I have too many to count.  I picked out the ones I could still use – and thanks to my dear neighbor girl, they are now sorted by color! But I still have lots I don't need – a HUGE pile.  It includes simple brads, fancy brads, mini brads, big brads, gem brads, fabric brads, etc.  I will divide them up into two bags for two lucky winners.  For a chance to win, just leave a comment here by Tuesday at 11:59pmEDT telling me your plans for the upcoming 3-day weekend.  (If you aren't in the States… the upcoming weekend. :)  Here is a peek at the brad goodness…

Brads

I think that is all for tonight – off to get some donations ready to be picked up tomorrow bright and early.  Thanks for stopping by… night. 🙂

No plans yet. It just wouldn’t be Memorial day without something cooked on the grill. I hope I will be reading my June CK by then. We still haven’t gotten ours around here. Maybe a little scrapbooking with my daughters?

For the holiday weekend, my hubby and I are riding our Harley to Paducah KY to visit wonderful friends who we miss (they moved there a few months ago). Then on Monday I leave for Minnesota with my best friend to visit her family.

Here in Canada it’s Victoria Day long weekend. The kids were also off Friday at our school, so it was a 4 day weekend. My mom took my girls swimming today and had them for a sleepoever on Saturday. Friday we went to look at flowers, but knew the snow was coming, so we didn’t buy anything 🙂 Sunday was cold and snowy…that’s life in Northern Alberta.

We have 3 day wkend too in Scotland !!! …but not sure why? Victoria Day? And I am using my precious, precious extra day off to (drumroll….) sit in the local dental hospital while they ‘assess’ how narrow my root canals are. Yup. The only part of my body that is narrow is my root canals. So narrow, my dentist can’t clean the infection from them properly and they need to be treated microscopically. And incidentally, you may have noticed the word “assess” up there. Assess does not mean treat – oh no. Assess means “we’ll drill out the temporary filling, causing you enough stress to take the skin off your palms with your fingernails, hum and haw a bit, refill the tooth and then give you an appointment for treatment in a few months time. Don’t hold your breath.” My teeth are aching just thinking about it 🙁 Now surely that sob story deserves a bag of brads? Whatever you do – have MUCH more fun than me !! xx

  23. Helen says:

Glad to see you took time out when you needed to. V. wise! 🙂 Painting the church hall on Saturday, then busy church day on Sunday, then… (tee hee) next week is a school holiday here in the UK, so we’re taking the kids to Legoland for a couple of days, then my wonderful parents are looking after the kids so Hubby & I can have a weekend away to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary. V. excited!! Hope you have a good weekend.

Thank you Jennifer…You never cease to amaze me! This weekend I am doing two things:
    1) Paint, paint, & paint some more in my studio. Gearing up for my mixed media exhibit in June at a local Starbucks
    2) Teaching my children’s watercolor workshop. It’s a repeat I did on Mother’s Day–Haiku Poetry & Painting. Click on photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27267039@N04/sets/72157617995122216/

We caught up on some errands, spent Saturday enjoying downtown, rented the Changeling (still can’t believe it’s a true story), spend Sunday with friends (the girls scrapped and the boys caught up on TV), and cooked my first ham… I had a great weekend.

Keep up the great work, girl.
