Coming back with a bang… and giveaways…

Hey, folks.

Sorry that I went MIA for a few days.  Just needed to take a break.  I finally got back to creating Saturday afternoon.  And it felt good.  So good.

So, now I am back with lots to share this week.  Projects.  Enabling.  Links.  Giveaways.  Let's get going…

First – someone asked for a closer look at the two layouts that were in the recent CK.  I don't have great photos, but maybe these will help.  (BTW, the recent issues of CK have rocked.  I tore out lots of ideas from the June issue!)

Layout 2 - Mat Photos - Blog(c) Creating Keepsakes – June issue

Layout 1 - Background of Trims - Spirits(c) Creating Keepsakes – June issue

Next up: Found some great shopping. How about a bit of enabling?

  • I am adding THIS to my scrapbook room door.
  • New Doodlebug.  I have always been a Doodlebug fan.  Their products always make me smile.  And better yet, the people who work there are true gems.  THESE are adorable.  They always use the best fonts, and THESE mini rub-ons are must-haves.  They come in lots of colors.
  • Ah… and step aside, Cuttlebug.  Quickutz has some rockin' embossing folders now HERE.  My favorite?  THIS 12" border.  Great for pages and cards.  (And, yes, you can use them with your Cuttlebug.)
  • Speaking of Quickutz, I am lovin' on THIS die set.
  • I really like papers that you can cut out lots of different borders from, etc.  THIS one from Cosmo Cricket – yum.
  • One of my favorite things to do in the evening is to search around on Etsy.  I fill up my cart…  dig through it… save many to favorites… and then buy nothing.  Ha.  Actually, I do buy there pretty often – I like the idea of supporting handmade.  I get lots of shirts for Colin there, jewelry for the girls and gifts for friends.  (And, if you Twitter, I often share links to my favorite finds there.)  Anyway, I just saw THESE and will be getting them for the girl's bedroom doors.  And it is always fun finding bargins like THIS.  Hee.  If you like jewelry, THIS is my favorite seller.  And THIS is my favorite necklace.

How about some links?  Here are some for ya from 2peas…

  • THIS page by Peg Manrique is fantastic.  Fun colors and such, but the focus stays on the photo.  Perfect.
  • Shannon Tidwell does such fun pages.  THIS one just made me smile.  The title and accents are perfect.
  • THIS is an AMAZING page by Kelly Purkey.  Fun in every way.  Boy, I sure wish I had access to her closet. 🙂
  • Moon Ko is so talented.  THIS is so classy.
  • Nichol Magouirk rocked this Garden.  Love THIS and THIS is the greatest page of all time.
  • It wouldn't be a new Garden without a page to love from Robyn.  THIS is fantastic.

HERE is a set of cards I did.  Super quick, thanks to the help of die cuts and fancy paper. 🙂

And, HERE are two more cards I did using Crackle Paint and Glimmer Mist.  A strange combo, but it looks cool in real life – the shimmer gets in the crackles and shines a ton.  Here is one of the cards…

Last but not least, how about a giveaway?  Or two?  I was going through my brads and realized I have too many to count.  I picked out the ones I could still use – and thanks to my dear neighbor girl, they are now sorted by color! But I still have lots I don't need – a HUGE pile.  It includes simple brads, fancy brads, mini brads, big brads, gem brads, fabric brads, etc.  I will divide them up into two bags for two lucky winners.  For a chance to win, just leave a comment here by Tuesday at 11:59pmEDT telling me your plans for the upcoming 3-day weekend.  (If you aren't in the States… the upcoming weekend. :)  Here is a peek at the brad goodness…

Brads

I think that is all for tonight – off to get some donations ready to be picked up tomorrow bright and early.  Thanks for stopping by… night. 🙂

  1. We were going to go to Niagra Falls w/our little grls, but the prices are crazy b/c of the holiday, so we are planning to make it a zoo weekend! We are driving to the Columbus Zoo then will do our local zoo, too. The girls love seeing the animals and it is supposed to be a GREAT weather weekend in Ohio! We are also cooking out at my M-I-L’s. Sorry if that TMI, but I’m excited about the weekend and the brad giveaway! :o)

These are the true American heroes for letting us live free. We also plan on stopping by the veterans park and bringing flowers in remembrance.

  3. My best friend’s family is coming to visit, so we are going to spend some time getting to know them! And of course, heat up the grill! Hoping for some good weather to finally use the pool!

  5. No plans at all for me, which is the best kind of weekend (holiday or otherwise). Do what you want to do, when you want to do it, “if” you want to do it! No pressure, no planning!!

  6. Our family is helping to lay mulch on my sister’s property and who knows what else! Maybe Memorial Day breakfast at our neighbors after the parade!

  7. We begin with dinner and live theater with friends, then a day with my grandchildren, on Sunday afternoon I get together with my ‘card making friends’, and Monday, my hubby plays golf all day with his friends. This is what I call a great weekend!
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway! Love your blog, and ideas you share with us!

  8. I’m going to a “Close to My Heart” scrapbooking workshop on Saturday, going to my Grandmother’s house on Sunday and hosting a card swap on Monday. But, I’d be doing all of that even if it wasn’t Mmorial Day!

  9. I love brads!!! Our weekend will consist of transplanting plants … maybe buying some annuals. Perhaps starting a workbench in the garage.

  10. I’m planning a little scrapping time, family time, and church time. I couldn’t ask for anything more:)

  14. UNFORTUNATELY SINCE MY HUBBY HAS DEMENTIA, WE PROBABLY WILL NOT BE DOING ANYTHING SPECIAL FOR THE LONG WEEKEND. HE DOES NOT DO WELL WITH A CHANGE TO HIS SCHEDULE. I MAY GET TO SPEND A BIT OF TIME TRYING TO CREATE AND I WOULD SURE LIKE TO HELP YOU CLEAR OUT SOME OF THOSE EXCESS BRADS. (CAN YOU EVER HAVE EXCESS SUPPLIES?)

  15. Love all your pics and ideas! You keep me inspired!! 🙂

  18. Hi Jen,

Loved the cards and the links. I love the link emails. Hours of mindless inspiring fun.

Its not a long weekend here but I have three assignments due for university next Tuesday so I will be in my track pants chained to my desk. But I do have a date on Saturday night where the boy is meeting mt parents for the first time. I think he’s a little scared.

I hope the weather is great for your long weekend.

  19. I have over 30 card orders to do! Am gonna grab the scrap drawer and go to work with my new Hero Arts stamps! Have a great one, Jennifer!

  20. I will be spending the weekend at my daughter’s dance recital as well as at my son’s baseball tournament. I have to make sure I spend equal time at both activities so they don’t feel slighted. 🙂

  21. I’m taking Friday off! So a 4-day weekend. I’m treating Friday like a work day, I’m working on a project for a very good friend (Shirley), getting her caught up. If I can buckle down on Friday, I’ll have almost 900 pics of hers scrapped and in albums, and another 300+ organized in boxes. Then deliver them … then maybe dinner out and a movie with hubby? So exicted about Friday tho-can’t wait!

  22. We really don’t have any plans. May do something with friends, but no plans so far.
This is a wonderful giveaway. I never seem to have the right brad when I want to use one.

  23. My daughter is having a little boy in May and since the family are here from all over the globe – we are in South African and visitors here from Australia and England – we are having the baby shower early – or the sprinkle as it is being called so the weekend will be dedicated to visiting with family and thinking about cute little babies
Oh and yes brads are my favourite way of attaching layers – especially vellum and acetate
Thanks Jennifer – you are my fave visit on line!!

  24. Weekend!!!Ahh…sleep and rest and yes…scrapbook till i drop!!! planning to go to la garment district to see if i could get “stuff” for my scrapbooking. he he he…

  25. For the weekend we are going to the mountains!! Since its so hot, having a quiet little creek and some large shady trees will be the perfect solution.

Thank you for your inspiration, I love all that you show us and teach us.
