Coming back with a bang… and giveaways…

Hey, folks.

Sorry that I went MIA for a few days.  Just needed to take a break.  I finally got back to creating Saturday afternoon.  And it felt good.  So good.

So, now I am back with lots to share this week.  Projects.  Enabling.  Links.  Giveaways.  Let's get going…

First – someone asked for a closer look at the two layouts that were in the recent CK.  I don't have great photos, but maybe these will help.  (BTW, the recent issues of CK have rocked.  I tore out lots of ideas from the June issue!)

Layout 2 - Mat Photos - Blog(c) Creating Keepsakes – June issue

Layout 1 - Background of Trims - Spirits(c) Creating Keepsakes – June issue

Next up: Found some great shopping. How about a bit of enabling?

  • I am adding THIS to my scrapbook room door.
  • New Doodlebug.  I have always been a Doodlebug fan.  Their products always make me smile.  And better yet, the people who work there are true gems.  THESE are adorable.  They always use the best fonts, and THESE mini rub-ons are must-haves.  They come in lots of colors.
  • Ah… and step aside, Cuttlebug.  Quickutz has some rockin' embossing folders now HERE.  My favorite?  THIS 12" border.  Great for pages and cards.  (And, yes, you can use them with your Cuttlebug.)
  • Speaking of Quickutz, I am lovin' on THIS die set.
  • I really like papers that you can cut out lots of different borders from, etc.  THIS one from Cosmo Cricket – yum.
  • One of my favorite things to do in the evening is to search around on Etsy.  I fill up my cart…  dig through it… save many to favorites… and then buy nothing.  Ha.  Actually, I do buy there pretty often – I like the idea of supporting handmade.  I get lots of shirts for Colin there, jewelry for the girls and gifts for friends.  (And, if you Twitter, I often share links to my favorite finds there.)  Anyway, I just saw THESE and will be getting them for the girl's bedroom doors.  And it is always fun finding bargins like THIS.  Hee.  If you like jewelry, THIS is my favorite seller.  And THIS is my favorite necklace.

How about some links?  Here are some for ya from 2peas…

  • THIS page by Peg Manrique is fantastic.  Fun colors and such, but the focus stays on the photo.  Perfect.
  • Shannon Tidwell does such fun pages.  THIS one just made me smile.  The title and accents are perfect.
  • THIS is an AMAZING page by Kelly Purkey.  Fun in every way.  Boy, I sure wish I had access to her closet. 🙂
  • Moon Ko is so talented.  THIS is so classy.
  • Nichol Magouirk rocked this Garden.  Love THIS and THIS is the greatest page of all time.
  • It wouldn't be a new Garden without a page to love from Robyn.  THIS is fantastic.

HERE is a set of cards I did.  Super quick, thanks to the help of die cuts and fancy paper. 🙂

And, HERE are two more cards I did using Crackle Paint and Glimmer Mist.  A strange combo, but it looks cool in real life – the shimmer gets in the crackles and shines a ton.  Here is one of the cards…

Last but not least, how about a giveaway?  Or two?  I was going through my brads and realized I have too many to count.  I picked out the ones I could still use – and thanks to my dear neighbor girl, they are now sorted by color! But I still have lots I don't need – a HUGE pile.  It includes simple brads, fancy brads, mini brads, big brads, gem brads, fabric brads, etc.  I will divide them up into two bags for two lucky winners.  For a chance to win, just leave a comment here by Tuesday at 11:59pmEDT telling me your plans for the upcoming 3-day weekend.  (If you aren't in the States… the upcoming weekend. :)  Here is a peek at the brad goodness…

Brads

I think that is all for tonight – off to get some donations ready to be picked up tomorrow bright and early.  Thanks for stopping by… night. 🙂

  1. My husband and I usually go camping up northern Maine but this year the holiday is way too early in the month to be sleeping in a tent here in Maine. We will probably just sleep at home and have our first cookout of the year. We will also go fishing together around the different places near home and enjoy our family time together. Maybe I can talk everyone into a fun lawn game of croquet. Sure would love to win! 🙂 Thankyou for sharing. God Bless.

  2. We are going to take our girls miniature golfing for the first time. I can’t wait! And other than that probably just me beside the pool with a margarita in my hand, the perfect summer holiday!

  3. Finishing up a very special scrapbook page frame for my sweetheart who is turning 60 on the 26th. And of course a card too. Just trying to make it a suprise!

  4. Over the memorial weekend, 6 of my crazy scrapbooking friends will be making cards for Heroes to send home to their loved ones. What a difference it will make to troop morale to know people care enough to do this as they do not have a Hallmark Store around the corner. We are all looking forward to getting away to my basement to work when we want with no interruptions for 3 days, just bringing their sleepbags and scrapbooking stuff. Isn’t this a wonderful way to get together for a great cause?

  5. I spent the 3 days sleeping in and playing toys with my two boys at home. We also went to the park and the boys rode their bikes and I ran! It was a relaxing weekend!

    What a brads galore giveaway!

  6. I plan to relax and spend time with my family! We had a busy weekend last weekend – so some downtime would be wonderful

  7. We have out of state cousins coming that we have never met. Should have lots of fun, sightseeing, hiking & eatting!

  8. If it’s sunny we would like to go on a hike and maybe get a little camping in. With the way the weather’s been lately, it’s too hard to tell this early. Awesome stash of brads!

  9. My husband, self-employed, works on Monday. I will probably ride my bike, do some homeschooling and hang out with the boys. Perhaps I’ll make some cards.

  10. We’ll travel to Brittany with my daughters, my sister and my niece to visit our parents. We’ll go to the beach for sure.
    Thanks for your giveaway.
I really love your butterfly and bird cards.

  11. I’m looking forward to some down time. We want to see Star Trek. We didn’t go on Saturday because I almost had a migraine-type headache.

This week is so busy. I’m helping at school every single day! I need to do some serious work in my studio to prepare for our school’s silent auction next week (I donated sets of cards).

  12. well, if it’s raining I hope to scrap so long as the housework doesn’t give me a guilt trip. if it’s sunny I should really weed the garden – it’s a jungle out there!

  13. No plans here! My husband will be on bedrest for the next week, so unless I find a way to drag the bed into the car, we won’t be going anywhere! 🙂

  14. in the UK it is a bank holiday this coming Monday – so Yippeee for three day weekends. i plan to craft, craft and more craft…and probably blog about my crafting too!

  15. I will visit a secondhand market, have a play at my crafting table and above all enjoy with family and friends.

  16. Thank you so, so much for all your inspiration. I live in the UK and this weekend my family and I are going away for a few days. I have put together a box of bits so that my daughter and I can make cards if it rains (Ha, and being in the UK it is VERY likely!)
    Love all your work.

  17. Hi Jennifer! I’ve signed up for a D’Artist Photography class at a nearby club. Hence, will spend the next 3 weekends brushing up my photography skills.

  18. Hi, I’ll be at home with my two kids and ‘Millie’ my best friend’s pug who’s coming for the half term holiday. Lots of opportunities for photo’s for potential scrapbook pages, I hope!

  19. Unfortunately, working. I am an optician’s apprentice and I have to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. So, not much time to get some things done. Just barely enough to spend some time with the kids. I hope everyone enjoys the holiday. Keep my husband in your prayers! (He’s a veteran)

  20. I love all the links you give us. Great eyecandy.

  22. I’m in Niagara Falls Canada and our 3 day weekend was yesterday. And our plan consisted of hanging out as a family. We took our 2 yr old daughter to feed the ducks and to the community park to play on the slide. And of course this involved TONS of pictures for future scrapbooking. 🙂 We played outside in the back yard & took tons of walks. We even went to her friends “CUPCAKE” b-day party.I work full-time so this weekend was very much needed, I miss my little girl. (Oh when she napped, I scrapbooked 🙂 )

  23. Nothing big in our plans just taking advantage of the extra day & putting my DH to work doing a little room update in the kitchen. We’ll have a cookout too

I sure enjoyed Jillian on show number one how about you

  24. Great looking RAK …. this weekend I am finishing up opening the pool, going to a ball game (daughter in law hooked us up with box seats for a game!).. and spending time with family and friends !!

  25. Plans for the weekend? Rummage sale on Sat, and if weather warms up…walking along Lake Superior to the sounds of waves lapping up on the shoreline! We are so due for some warmer weather to catch some rays! The brads would be so awesome to win…I do need some for a project I need to begin soon! Hope all have the opportunity to remember why we have this holiday and cherish those who have gone before us.

  26. We have a 4 day weekend- no school friday from an unused snow day!!! We’re heading to our trailer in the Poconos in PA. I would love to win the brads. Thanks for the chance and enjoy your long weekend!

  27. We FINALLY get a chance to plant some flowers! I can’t wait. Thank goodness we waited since Ohio was hit with frost these last few days. That Mother Nature– she’s a tricky minx!

  28. My head is spinning with all of my kids’ end of year activities so I plan to catch my breath this weekend. I wan to bar-b-que, take a bike ride with my daughter and scrapbook. Enjoy your weekend!

  29. Camping Saturday night, in a tent, and I’m not really a camper! I really like INDOOR plumbing.

  30. No plans. Just unpacking and re-organizing my scrap space from the past weekend’s retreat! I love your blog!

  31. I am using this 3 day weekend to thoroughly clean my house for the Graduation Open House we are having for my son…sniff…sniff. He is my oldest and I can’t believe how fast the time has flown! Thank goodness I have scrapped some memories. I will be pulling out every page I have ever scrapped of him and will have them in a scrapbook for all to view at the open house. Enjoy your little guy, time flies!!!

  32. I will be enjoying a quiet weekend at home with DH. Those kind of weekends are rare for us so they are truly treasured!

  33. Hubbie and I are golfing in tournament this weekend then off to San Francisco on Monday. We can’t wait.

  34. My hubby is heading to Europe for ten days on Wednesday…so my 21 month old twins and I will be visiting family Thursday to Tuesday. We’ll enjoy a kiddie parade on Saturday and farm animal enjoyment the rest of the time there. They have baby goats, chicks, horses, calves, kittens, dogs, rabbits. My kiddoes will be in animal heaven and I’m sure we’ll learn some new animal sounds!

  35. Sadly I have to work Saturday but then I still get two days off, then I work 3 days and I am off the next Friday for a 3 dayer, so I am really not going to complain!

I plan to work on my room, scrap room that is and clean the house, hang out with the kids and hopefully I get a new camera for my birthday tomorrow:) I turn 41, that number just doesn’t connect to how I feel inside:)

I also hope to win these brads, I have actually been using them a lot more lately and I would love to win some and then split them with my Foster Parent Cabinet. I work with foster parents and I frequently buy 2 of many things so I can share with my families when they come in to work on lifebooks. I am always looking for supplies to fatten the cupboard up so if I win I will share:) I think every kid that comes into care should have a book, it is the law in OHIO to have one but still not everyone seems to have one. I am just doing my part to get one started for them and make it as purty as possible!

  36. It’s my 6th year anniversary on Sunday so my husband and I are taking a mini-vacation to Downeast, Maine (we live in So Maine). The plan is to go sailing, kayaking, Andrew Wyeth Museum (Fansworth) and go on a wine tasting tour! Should be some great material to scrap later 🙂

    Have a great Memorial Day!

  37. Wkend will be spent w/our girls & family BBQing & taking my girls to the local pool. They love it there! They deserve it too bcuz for the past 2 wks all they did was tryout for 3 diff clubs (soccer!) in this AZ heat! Oh yeah! And giving our 2 Shelties a bath! =)

  38. Well we have had a massive forest fire in our county so our Memorial Day is now a make-up day for school- being an administrator I will be at school on that wonderful holiday! Which stinks- so some new brads would def. ease the pain…. 🙂
    Thanks
    Dawn in SC

  39. Loving those cards! We’re having a pool party for my hubby’s 30th! Guess I better clean the house then huh? LOL! 😀

  40. Then I will spend the late evenings scrapping away!!!

  41. weekend ‘plan’ (it easily is altered by the kiddo’s):

    – get my hairy silly looking eyebrows waxed.. ugh I hate getting waxed.
    – take my newly waxed self out to costco to pick-up some beef to BBQ for the family. (strolling SLOWLY by the one aisle that sometimes has scrapbook supplies 🙂 hee)
    – a little laundry here and there..
    – alot of playing with my boys .. silly fun. perhaps a short game of monopoly!

  43. I am sincerely hoping that my weekend includes LOTS of relaxing and doing nothing! We’ve had so many busy weekends lately due to sports. I’m ready for being lazy 🙂

  44. I am just hanging out at home with my family and friends. We’ll have a bunch of people in and out for campfire and bbq. It has been a whirlwind couple of months and
I am looking forward to just staying home!!!!!

  45. The upcoming 3-day weekend for me will consist of working! When you work in Retail, you know they always want you there 🙂 Maybe I will fit a BBQ in there somewhere and if not…after work I will create a card or two.
