Some scraproom answers, a video and a giveaway. :)

Gonna try to make this post quick – I think my allergies are turning into a cold.  Crud.

I have some scraproom answers, a video and a giveaway. 🙂

Thanks for all the nice comments about my scraproom.  I do love it down there.  And I am so thankful the kids like to be down there as much as me.  A few answers to questions:

  • I got the buttons on the wall from Pottery Barn when they went on super clearance.  I bet you can find them on ebay.  The scissors are from Hobby Lobby.
  • My room isn’t always that clean. 🙂  I get a lot of shipments of products (this is my job) so it is hard to keep up with putting things away.  But I really try.  The kids are very helpful.
  • The little white drawers from Ikea – yes, they don’t have labels.  I move things around so much that I decided not to put any labels on them.  But I remember where everything is – it is that engineer mind of mine.  🙂
  • Those little white drawers were first sanded, then primed, then painted with semi-gloss white trim paint.
  • I haven’t measured the room, but Ken guesses it is 15′ x 25′.
  • The punches hang on the pegboard with little metal shelves and hooks.  You can get all kinds of different ones at Home Depot for super cheap.
  • I do have a lot of stamps, but keep in mind that I work for Hero Arts, so I have all of their stamps. I could never have paid for them all! 🙂  (And this is another reason I give a lot away – I like to pay it forward.)

Now it’s time for a video!  I am leading the fourth week of Stamp Camp over on 2peas.  Click HERE for information and close-ups and HERE for a thread about the camp.  And if you play along, you could win a great prize!  Here is the video and projects…

Now… a giveaway!  Fiskars is so generous… and they sent me two of a stamp set.  So… one could be yours.  Just leave a comment on this post by 11:59pmEDT on Thursday telling me what your first stamp you got was (if you remember!).  I will then pick a winner of this great Heidi Grace set…

BTW… my first stamp was a Hero Arts flower.  Funny, huh?  I remember when I first started scrapbooking, I told my brother and Ken that I would NEVER buy stamps… “why would anyone want to buy a stamp when you could print clip art for free?”  Boy, did I eat my words, huh?  Now I can’t imagine creating without a stamp.  Hee…

OK… have a great night!

  1. What a beautiful stamp set. My first stamp was a set from Stampin’ Up! in 1999. It was a noah’s ark set because I was going to have a baby and use it for cards. Fun to remember.

  2. My first stamp was a bunch of flowers in a vase and the blooms are hearts instead of petals. I think it might be Hero Arts, but I can’t check since I’m not at home right now.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. Oh, I forgot. I have a question. I know you have all of the Hero Arts stamps, but do you ever go back and use the old ones from years ago or do you just use the new ones that they are currently selling? Just curious.

  4. My first stamp set was Definitely Decorative Daisy by Stampin’ UP! Got totally hooked at a SU! demonstration my mom had at her home… and she never does hostess parties. Sadly, only I stamp/scrapbook anymore. BUT my mom and sister gave me all of their supplies, including SU!’s complete marker set. So I feel obligated to make all of their cards… which I do gladly, of course!
Now I have over 1,000 stamps… and proud of it!

  5. Let’s see- I believe my first stamp was a bookplate-I thought it would be nice to stamp inside all of my daughter’s special books-I still have it approx. 16 years later! Oh I also bought a hot link Colorbox ink pad to go with it!

  6. My first stamp was a Mickey Mouse stamp when I was about 4 years old. The only reason I remember that is because I got in so much trouble for stamping EVERYTHING in my bedroom…toys, walls, sheets, furniture…LOL A stamper from the start!

  7. My first stamp was a stamp of my first name. My grandparents gave it to me when I was a little girl. I loved stamping it over and over. I still have it.

  8. My first stamps purchased were a dolphin, a frog, and a dragonfly. I was making recipe card holders with a kids church group for Mother’s Day.

  9. My first stamp was a cupcake with a candle stamp. I think it’s Stacey Beise – it was in the $1 bin at Michael’s and I thought I’d give it a try. I still use it 🙂

  10. The first stamp I ever bought was at a craft show. My girlfriend and I went and she’s like “won’t this be cute to stamp on the Xmas card envelope”. I still have that snowman stamp. What’s cool is that it’s at a store that you have mentioned on your blog. I was born and raised in Cincy and reading your blog makes me feel less homesick.

  11. Those stamps are so cute and just what I have been looking for! Well I never had just one stamp. An old friend of my grandma gave me all of her old stamps. I am still so grateful and I use them often! I have to say that I love your room! I would love to have some room to myself to do my scrapbooking someday.

  12. Jennifer … thanks for showing us the resist techniques they can be tricky but will be much easier now that I’ve seen you do them. I’m a visual learner so your videos are a great help. Oh … and the first stamp I remember actually buying was a “chicken” image, I couldn’t tell you who the maker was as it was years and years ago, but I used it for recipe cards as a gift one year.
Thanks for the chance to win a great set of stamps.
    Have a wonderful day.

  13. It was a very small panda face stamp I bought over 11 years ago…I love pandas and that stamp still makes me smile! I use it when I go letter boxing.

  14. The first stamp I ever bought was a PSX snowman. I would guess 14 years ago. I still love to use that one every Christmas for something. Thanks so much for the chance to win. Great resist techniques in this thread.

  15. seriously, i REALLY want that ranger distress ink and applicator! it’s now on my christmas list! I had to go look through my stamp stash, but I think the first set I bought might have been “Loving Hearts” from Stampin Up!

  16. Hello Jennifer! My first stamps were the Making Memories foam stamps. After that, I was totally hooked on stamps. Thanks for this giveaway.

  17. Thanks for the great tutorial! My first stamp was an angel (I don’t remember the company who made it). I haven’t used it in a long time, but it is a nice reminder of how I got started in the wonderful hobby.

  18. My first stamp set was one of the Hero Arts little alphabets. Becky Higgins had named them one of her favorite things in CK about 5 years ago and I ran right out to find a set. I’m not big on alpha stamps anymore, but my Hero stash (and plenty of others!) of images is HUGE! 🙂

  19. My first stamp was the State seal of Texas. I was still in high school and I was doing a scrapbook page for my first rodeo. Thanks for sharing your “goodies” with us!

  20. my first stamp— I believe it was a set from Stampin’ Up. My cousin sold their products for awhile and she is the one that got me hooked. It is a set called Heartfelt Thanks– so pretty!

  21. My first stamp was just over a year ago and was a tiny little “3 flowers in a vase”, HA stamp (I think) I thought I would just try this stamping thing out….many many stamps later, I’m still going at it:-)
Jennifer–your craft room is a dream come true. I can only gaze and drool!

  22. Hmm, it’s hard to remember way back when I got my first stamp (1981) That doesn’t include the set of Popeye stamps that worked as tatoos. That I think I got in the late 60’s. My first stamp was a two sided block that had a pineapple on one side and a solid cat on the other. I still have it, though it’s falling off of it’s mount. I wish I knew what company it was from, but there are no markings on it.

Thanks for sharing the videos, especially the one of your room. I’m definitely suffering from organization envy.

Oh, and I don’t know if you ever addressed this on your blog. How did you come to work for Hero Arts?

    Cheers!

  23. Wow that was a long time ago!! I remember that I had been scrapbooking for quite a while and my sister (I lived in NE & she lived in TX) was really getting into stamping (card making)- Well she came to visit and brought her supplies and we both adopted each other hobbies and now I can’t imagine one without the other. Anyway my first stamp was a flower because I thought that I would be able to use it for both! (Now I probably have at least 30 different flower stamps!!!)

  24. Love your tutorials Jen. My first stamp about 15 years ago I think, was a stamp by PSX when they were still called Personal Stamp Exchange. I was a “NOEL” stamp with flourishes and flowers. I loved it and I still have it.

  25. a flower with a lined border arround it in the shape of a square, i actually still use it on all my cards, saying who made it and when. I should really invest in getting a new nicer one!
then again maybe old is good!

  26. The first stamp I purchased was at a Stampin’ Up party about 8 years ago. It was a garden set I later sold on ebay for a nice chunk of change! What did I do with my $? Well, I bought more stamps, of course! 🙂

  27. Mine was a butterfly not sure what brand! will have to dig down to the bottom of the box (not as organized as you and your wonderful room, but will get there one day)at the weekend and create with it!!

  28. My very first stamp was a Hello Kitty stamp and I stored it in a Hello Kitty container! Seems ages ago! 🙂 I totally forgot about it until a few months ago when my son (3) and his cousin (6) found it and decided to make tatoos all over their faces, legs, and beddings!!! OMG, they were so darn cute and funny!

  29. Don’t remember my first stamp, but I’ll bet it came from my favorite cross stich shop called the Daisy Barrel. It was most likely a Christams Teddy from “Lucy”.

  30. my first set of stamps was alphas. I laughed about your comment because I said the same thing about stamps..and I sure ate my words..lol

  31. Thanks for the video of your space. I just love it. I was drooling. I am fortunate to have my own little office, but it is small and not nearly as pretty or organized as yours. Thank you for the great inspiration, yet again.

  32. If I remember correctly, it was a thank you stamp that I bought to make thank you notes for our wedding. That was 12.5 years ago!

  33. Oooh, this is kinda hard … but I THINK my first stamp was a single snowflake one which came w it’s own little light blue ink pad! I’m LOVIN’ your stamp room and video – thanx for sharing that, and the blog candy opp!

  34. mmmm.. I can’t remember my very first stamp, but I remember the first stamp set that I wanted. It was my first Stampin up party, and looked through the whole catlogue and only found one set that I liked…Stipple Celebrations….and of course it was a hostess set. I couldn’t even buy it. Then I had a party and it was all down hill from there.

  35. My first stamp was a little tiny bear stamp that I used to stamp in my books when my sister and I played library. I would stamp it in the inside front cover to “check it out” to her! 🙂

  36. My first set was Business Builders from SU! I was a Mary Kay lady and thought those stamps were so darn cute and stamped all of my cattys, etc…Boy oh boy! Then I decided to make my own thank you cards and got a back grounds set….then it was all downhill from there!
