Metallic Stamping

Hi! Today I am sharing a simple technique that allows you to add a bit of metallic shine to your colorful stamping.

I love adding shimmer and shine to my cards and was trying to come up with an easy way to do so with a colorful stamped image. And it is simple! In today’s video I used Altenew Enchanted Gold Ink (SSS | ALT) but you could also use Altenew Antique Gold Ink (SSS | ALT) or other metallic pigment inks. I am just really happy with the shine of these particular pigment inks.

For all of my cards, I also used the new Gina K Pop Arts Flowers Card Kit. (More on that below.) I started by lightly inking over the stencil from the kit with Gina K Designs Peach Bellini Ink and a Picket Fence Life Changing Brush. I then applied a touch of Altenew Enchanted Gold Ink (SSS | ALT) around the edges with a Tonic Blending Sponge. Next, I added a Reverse Confetti Stitched Hex Tag (SSS | RC) die cut with a Concord & 9th Sew Pretty Stamp Set (SSS | C9) sentiment… and Studio Katia Gold Sparkle Crystals and twine.

For the flowers, I stamped them as normal using dye inks. I then used a Gina K Comfort Block (SSS | GK) and Altenew Enchanted Gold Ink (SSS | ALT) to stamp directly on top of the completed flowers. When inking the stamp with Altenew Enchanted Gold Ink (SSS | ALT) , I put the ink light in the middle and a bit heavier on the edges. Love the look!

I followed the same technique to get colorful, metallic images for this next card. This also features the Poppy Stamps Luscious Script die cut along with a sentiment from another stamp set in the Gina K Pop Arts Flowers Card Kit.

I also added shine to the “hugs” die cut with my Tonic Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer Pen.

My last card showcases the same technique… and again using the stencils and stamps from the Gina K Pop Arts Flowers Card Kit. I did add a Pink and Main Thin Fish Tail Banner die cut (SSS | PM) for the sentiment.

  1. This video is so helpful to me, Jennifer. I just finished watching Gina K’s live showing of her card kit. You’ve shown how well so many of the pieces can work for card creations. Adding the metallics is a great way to increase the possibilities for this kit and so many other layering stamps. Thanks so much for this timely video tutorial

  2. Beautiful cards… I really like the addition of the gold ink and my brain went immediately to fall leaves highlighted with metallics. Thank you!

  3. I watched the live release party last night…oh my word! I’m gonna go broke but did place an order this morning! I ordered the kit and can’t wait to be able to play! These are absolutely amazing, Jennifer! What a wonderful technique and so easy to do! Love, Love, Love!!

  4. I think we all love glitz and shine and your ideas were a great way to do this. Rolling the stamp onto the gold ink is ingenious. TY for all your ideas.

  5. Jennifer
Such a beautiful array of cards. Love the designs and the stamp set combo looks amazing.
Loving the new golds from altenew too.
    Cheers
    Lisa

  6. I really love your videos and website – very informative and so well done! Will you please tell me where you purchase you base white cardstock?

  7. With the Tonic shimmer pens, I find the glitter rubs off very easily and never sets. Heat setting didn’t seem to help, mor did a month of “drying.” What do you do to keep it in place on this card?

  8. I really, really, really appreciate all the great tips and creative ideas you share. Your cards and techniques are amazing! Thank you!!!!!!

  9. Jennifer,
I just love the new Pop Flower kit from Gina K and all your cards came out beautiful with just the touch of the gold ink. Love your techniques. Thank you.
