I was SO excited when I got the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set! Not only does this stamp set have special meaning (more on that below), it is GORGEOUS! I love the large flower arrangement. Of course, when you see that image, you instantly think it needs to be colored! And although I think that would look amazing, I decided to instead share 5 fast and fun techniques with the one stamp set. These are techniques that you can apply to other images, too.
#1: Vellum Overlay
My first fast technique idea is to do a heat embossed vellum overlay. After white embossing the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set image on Grafix Platinum Vellum, I folded the vellum over a notecard. The notecard is made from the new Hero Arts Lapis Cardstock (SSS | HA) (such a unique and lovely color!) that I stamped with the Simon Says Stamp You Matter Stamp. The sentiment is also from the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set.
Vellum overlays are so fast to make… and you could add Copic Marker coloring to the back of the vellum if you wanted. I left it uncolored to save time and let the blue color stand out.
Oh – and by the way – the vellum is held to the cardstock notecard with a strip of Lawn Fawn Double Sided Tape on the back.

#2: Full-Card Shaker
Another fast technique is to create a full-card shaker card. This is simple to make – be sure to watch the video! I white heat embossed the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set flower and sentiment on Judikins Embossable Window Plastic. On top I added a frame I made with two Hero Arts Rectangle Infinity Dies (SSS | HA). I added lots of gems inside that are free to move around.
This is a great way to add something fun to a card… and super fast to do!

#3: Stamp Tracing
I always have wanted to be an artist who could draw amazing things. However, I simply am not! So I enjoy stamping images and tracing them with a pen to make it look like I drew it. It works great! For this card, I stamped the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set flower on Hero Arts Lapis Cardstock (SSS | HA) with Versamark Ink. I then used a Pilot Silver Metallic Marker (SSS | AZ) and Uni-Ball Signo Gold Pen to trace it. It didn’t take too long and the results are unique. SO much metallic shine. I also white heat embossed the sentiment.
This has so much shine in real life!

#4: Spotlight Stamping
Spotlight stamping is a great way to make a fun card while saving time on coloring. I stamped the flower image from the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set twice – once with light Gina K Amalgam Whisper Ink and once with Gina K Jet Black Amalgam Ink. I then used a Hero Arts Hearts Infinity Die to cut out a portion of the black stamped image. After coloring the heart flowers with Copic Markers, I added it onto the light stamped image… being sure to line up the pattern. This is a huge time saver! I adhered the pieces to a notecard made of Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock (SSS | HA) – my favorite black cardstock.

#5: Shimmer Lift
Creating an inked background and lifting away some of the color is a great way to create a unique card. But it is even better when you add shimmer! For this last card, I white heat embossed my images on white cardstock and then covered it with a heavy layer of Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink. I then “colored” in the flowers with a Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pens. This reacts with the ink and “lifts” it away a bit, making it softer. And it leaves behind shimmer! It looks SO much better in real life.
Here you can see the soft shimmer. Quick to do!
