Stretching Your Colors – Layering With One Color + GIVEAWAY
Hello! Stamp and die layering is very popular right now. However, these products require you to have several shades of the same color ink or paper. Today I am showing how you can get great results with one color… and a white ink pad.

I have several examples for you today… some with layering of stamps and some with layering of die cuts. Please watch the video to see how I was able to create the look of many colors… but only with a few. The key? White pigment ink!
My first card uses the new and oh-so-fun Altenew Wonderful Wycinanki Stamp Set (SSS | ALT). I love this set! These two cards were created with three colored inks – Altenew Magenta, New Leaf, and Chamomile Inks. It looks like I used 6+ inks. I simply stamped over some of the images with white pigment ink to make them lighter. The sentiments are from the Altenew Simply the Best Stamp Set (SSS | ALT).
These colors make me happy…
My next two cards showcase the Altenew Playful Plumeria Stamp Set (SSS | ALT). Each flower was made with one color of ink… and I stamped with white pigment ink between each layer of stamping. This gives the look of four inks… when we only used one color.
I stamped the dotted leaves in the background with the Altenew Dot Art Stamp Set… and used the same set for the sentiment.
I used a few more of the same flowers on this next card, along with the Altenew Mega Greetings 4 Stamp Set (SSS | ALT) and Altenew Mega Blessed Die (SSS | ALT).
These flowers are easy to layer…
Next up… I used Altenew Persian Blue Ink for this large flower from the Altenew Simply the Best Stamp Set (SSS | ALT). Love this color… and it matches the Hero Arts Lapis Cardstock (SSS | HA) nicely! The leaves are from the Altenew Antique Roses Stamp Set (SSS | ALT). (Again – watch the video to see how I created these with one color + white pigment ink.) In the background, I lightly inked Altenew Morning Frost Ink over the Altenew Wonderful Wreath Stencil (SSS | ALT).
I also added Gold Nuvo Glitter Drops to the center of the flower.
My last few cards feature die cutting instead of stamping. I started by die cutting many pieces from the Altenew Polish Papercuts 3D Dies (SSS | ALT) with Hero Arts Lapis Cardstock (SSS | HA) and Hero Arts Meadow Cardstock (SSS | HA). I then applied Hero Arts Unicorn White Ink to some to make them lighter. And applied VersaMark Ink to others to make them darker. So it looks like I used 6 colors of cardstock when I only used two. And I can be sure to have the perfect shades to go together!
The sentiments are from the Altenew Dot Art Stamp Set and Altenew Just Because Stamp Set (SSS | ALT).
I just love these colors… and really enjoy layering them together.
I had a few leftover pieces so I created this bonus card. The sentiment is from the Altenew Wavy Roses Stamp Set (SSS | ALT) and I used the Altenew Dot Art Stamp Set on the background.
