Perfect Pearl Techniques

Hello! Today I am sharing more fun ways to use Perfect Pearls Pigment Powders. Perfect Pearls can be used in many ways… are inexpensive… and many crafters have had them for years. I am hoping you like these techniques!

I have done many Perfect Pearls videos in the past. (See below.) Perfect Pearls are pigment powders made up of fine granules of mica with a built in resin and binder. Therefore you can use them on your paper projects wet or dry. These powders give gorgeous shimmery effects. Since Perfect Pearls have been around for years and are not expensive, many crafters have had them in their stash for a long time! So today I am sharing a few ways to use them creatively.

My first example shows how to “lift and add” Perfect Pearls for a shimmery, stamped background. I covered navy cardstock with Versamark Ink and added Perfect Pearl Perfect Pearls. I then inked up the tree image from the new SSS Gina K Joy of the Season Stamp Set and stamped it with Versamark Ink to “lift” the Perfect Pearls away. Finally I added Forever Blue Perfect Pearls over the trees for a two-tone shimmery image.

Check out that shimmer! I added white dots with a Posca Extra Fine White Paint Pen… and a sentiment with the Birch Press Big Joy Sugar Script Dies and Simon Says Stamp Big Thanks Words Stamp Set.

When I did the Perfect Pearl lifting on the last card, I stamped the lifted ink onto another piece of navy cardstock. I added Perfect Pearl Perfect Pearls to the trees for a second card. I also added navy marker and Posca Extra Fine White Paint Pen dots for interest in the background.

The sentiment includes the Birch Press Big Peace Sugar Script Dies and Birch Press Joy and Peace Stamp Set.

My next card shows a background made with layered stamping and Perfect Pearls. I first stamped snowflakes from the SSS Gina K Joy of the Season Stamp Set with Versamark Ink and added Perfect Pearl Perfect Pearls. I then stamped the Simon Says Stamp You Matter Stamp with Versamark Ink and added Forever Violet Perfect Pearls. I love the two-tone look and it is easy to do.

I added a layered die cut from the Birch Press Radiant Ornament Dies, along with a Birch Press Big Peace Sugar Script Dies and Birch Press Joy and Peace Stamp Set sentiment.

Today’s last two cards feature the Tim Holtz Natures Wonder Stamp Set. I covered olive cardstock with Versamark Ink and added Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls. I then lifted the pearls away by stamping the leaves with Versamark Ink. I love the shine and detail.

When doing the lift technique, I stamped the leaves on another olive cardstock piece and I added various colors of Perfect Pearls. I really like the mix of colors! I also stamped the Simon Says Stamp You Matter Stamp on top with olive ink.

I am amazed at the detail you can get with these techniques!

  12. Thanks Jennifer, I have become a recent fan of your videos and I am getting so much more out of the products I already have, like perfect pearls, I just have a few colours but think I will add a few more now. I also really appreciate learning more about products I have been interested in but nervous about trying, and products I never thought I would have any interest in. I recently had a bit of splurge on craft items and I’m really happy with everything I have purchased because your videos and love of card making has pointed me towards what is right for me. I even bought a few copic markers recently, something I really did not think I would get much out of but I love them and look forward to expanding my small collection. Thanks Jennifer.

  13. Thanks for doing more things with perfect pearls. They have faded in recent years but I’m glad your bringing them back. They add nice shimmer and they are simple to use.

  14. Beautiful cards… new to card making so I have never used perfect pearls… love the look and will add them to the list of things I want to try. Thank you again Jennifer.

  16. This is one of my favorite videos! Thanks for the info. I love perfect pearls, but have felt limited in their uses, so this is so helpful! I love your videos and your attitude about crafting AND life!

  17. My, oh, my, what shimmer and shine! Brilliant! I have a jar of Perfect Pearls that I bought years ago to make my own glimmer spray. That’s all I have ever used it for. You can be sure I’ll try something new now! As always, thank you so much!

  18. Enjoyed your video, and am especially excited to try multiple colors of Perfect Pearls with leaf stamps as you did–absolutely gorgeous!

  19. Hi Jennifer!
Love what you did here with the perfect pearls! It seems like something I can do, too. Thanks for sharing.

  20. Love the Pretty Pink Posh New Release……hard to pick a favorite; but, it’s between the Fall Foliage Stitched Dies and the Cute Kitties Stamps & Dies set. I’ve shied away from “cutesy” animals in the past, but I’m warming up to some of them and these are very versatile. Thanks, Jennifer for your always fun, creative and lovely cards and techniques. 🙂

  21. Once again you bring us more fabulous ways of using perfect pearls. Love these techniques!! This is a beautiful set from Gina K. and it suits the look of the perfect pearls perfectly!

  22. Thank you for reminding us of techniques and products that we tend to “forget” with all the new things constantly being released. You really are so inspiring.

  23. Hi Jennifer: Today is a good day for a good day! I have a question regarding stamping platforms. Do you prefer the Misti or the Tim Holtz platform. I am finding the Tim Holtz platform does not stamp the whole stamp and in doing the perfect pearls lift off technique it does not lift off the whole image, thus ruining my card. I am wondering if it is me. (it does the same thing with other stamps, too) or does the Misti work better. I notice all other crafters videos use the Misti as well. Thanks, Ginni DelPiano

  24. In another video, you mentioned making your own Shimmer spray with perfect pearls and water using the Tim Holtz sprayer. Where can I find what ratio of pigment powder to water?
