Mirror Stamping and Die Cutting

Hello! I am here today to share a simple way to do both mirror stamping and mirror die cutting. It is simple and gives great results!

Mirror stamping is a wonderful way to get new looks from your stamps. I also feel like having two mirrored images on a card gives a unique, modern look.

My first card features the gorgeous bird image from the Spellbinders Sparrow Stamps and Die Set (SSS | SB). Using the Neat and Tangled Backdrop Stamp (SSS | | EH | N&T), I am able to create a mirror image, too! (Be sure to watch the video on how to do this – it is difficult to explain without the visual. I used my MISTI stamping tool to make the process fail-proof, but I also show how to do the technique with an acrylic block.) I find VersaFine Onyx Black Ink is excellent for this technique… and then I clear heat embossed.

I colored my birdies with Arteza Watercolor Real Brush Pens and Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pens. (I will share more about these products in a future video.) The sentiment is from the Birch Press Just Because Stamp Set and I white heat embossed the Ink Blot Shop Plaid Background Stamp on the background for a bit of subtle texture. Oh – and the Lucy’s Cards Iridescent Jewels are the perfect accents!

My second card uses a feather from the Spellbinders Feathers Stamps and Dies (SSS | SB). I again did mirror stamping and die cutting.

Thanks.

  8. You showed the mirror imaging technique a while back so I bought a set of stamps for that purpose (don’t remember from who) and I’ve never done it. You have blown me away using the dies so now for sure I’ll be trying it. Your cards are amazing. I learn so much from you. Thank you.

  12. Amazing cards! LOVE the rainbow coloring on these. I haven’t tried this technique but have a few stamps I can think of that this would really work well on. Thank you for more great ideas! And thank you for the chance to win!!

  13. I always wondered how to do mirror stamping. Sometimes you want an image facing in the opposite direction, and this way it’s like having 2 stamps.

  17. Jennifer, What a wonderful technique. I’m going to have to try this one out. thanks for showing how to do it wih out a Misti stamping tool. It is on my Christmas Wish list, but I don’t know if I’ve been good enough for Santa to bring it this year 🙂 . Love your videos , you always inspire me with new ideas.

  18. Hey Jennifer, thank you for the update on mirror stamping!! Where did you get your Polymer “block” for the mirror stamping on the Misti? i need to get a few of those. I know that stamping on an acrylic block won’t work and we use to do that on Red Rubber. I really like the Polymer “block” idea. Thank you for sharing.

  19. Thank you for the video and techniques. Mirror stamping will be so much easier with the backdrop stamp. I’m guessing a light table would also work for the reverse die cutting.

  20. Beautiful cards. I actually bought the mirror blocks from paper smooches a couple weeks ago, and we n e using them on my Christmas cards this year.

  21. Thanks, Jennifer, for showing how to die cut the mirror image. I’ve stamped mirror images, but have never tried to die cut them. Great tips.

  22. Funny that you should post this as I was just looking at buying a mirror stamp. I am in love with the vivid colors you chose to color your images in!!!

  23. Hi jennifer! I love the coloring you did on these! You always say you’re not an artist but that rainbow coloring is really gorgeous. Thank you!
