More Easy Alcohol Ink Backgrounds + Giveaway
Hello! A few weeks ago I shared an alcohol ink video. Since then I have received a bundle of requests for more! So I am back with another easy way to use alcohol inks for colorful backgrounds.

If you missed my first alcohol ink video, be sure to check it out HERE. Many of you said you have also become addicted to doing these backgrounds and have asked for more ideas. Here the are!
For today’s examples, I used Ranger Alcohol Inks (SSS | EH) with an applicator tool. Traditionally, folks use the rectangle Ranger Alcohol Ink Applicator Tool (SSS | EH) with Ranger Alcohol Ink Applicator Felt (SSS | EH). However, I like the round Ink Blending Tools (SSS | EH). Therefore I replace the blending foam with Ranger Alcohol Ink Applicator Felt (SSS | EH) pieces that I have cut into circles. Works great! I also used Ranger Yupo Paper (SSS | EH) for all of the backgrounds.
The background on this first example is my favorite. I simply put drops of Ranger Alcohol Inks (SSS | EH), Silver Mixtative (SSS | EH), and Blending Solution (SSS | EH) on my felt applicator and swiped it back and forth on Ranger Yupo Paper (SSS | EH). I matted the background with a faux stitched rectangle and added snow banks created with the My Favorite Things Stitched Basic Edges Dies (MFT | SSS).
Those oh-so-stinkin’-adorable reindeer are from the My Favorite Things Deer Love Die Set (MFT | SSS). I stacked four of the die cuts together to make them stand out. The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things For Owl You Do Stamp SEt (MFT | SSS) and I added a red gem nose.
Look at the shine in that background!
Here is another example using the cutie reindeer. But look how different the background looks. I just tapped the inked applicator tool around the yupo paper for this look. Fast and easy. (Watch the video to see it in action.) I also added Lucy’s Cards Bridal Jewels (SSS | MFT) for snowflakes and a sentiment from the My Favorite Things Essential Sentiments Stamp Set (MFT | SSS). Oh – and the nose is a Your Next Stamp Gumdrop.
Love the swirly, shiny look of that background. It looks like the silver is floating…
I love the detail of the new My Favorite Things Mesmerizing Mandala Die (MFT |SSS). Isn’t it amazing? I stacked four together and added it to an alcohol ink background. Lila helped me add Lucy’s Cards Bridal Jewels (SSS | MFT) for a bit more shine. The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Merry Everything Stamp Set (MFT | SSS).
Also, I used the matching My Favorite Things Mesmerizing Mandala Background Stamp (MFT | SSS) to decorate my envelope.
Next I used the My Favorite Things Mesmerizing Mandala Die (MFT |SSS) to cut from alcohol-inked paper. (Yupo die cuts beautifully!) I then adhered three white cardstock die cuts behind it and added it to my card. Love the dimension! The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Essential Sentiments Stamp Set (MFT | SSS).
I love the shine on that snowflake…
I liked the look of this next alcohol-inked background so much that I decided to let most of it show! I added a stacked My Favorite Things Ornamental Medallion Trio (MFT | SSS) die cut and a few Lucy’s Cards Bridal Jewels (SSS | MFT). The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things All Smiles Stamps (MFT | SSS).
Check out that background. So unique…
I also wanted to make one playful card using my alcohol ink backgrounds. That bear from the My Favorite Things Ski-Sons Greetings Stamp Set (MFT | SSS) is too cute!
These alcohol inks are great for skies, too…
I hope you give alcohol inks a try!
