Stretching Your Supplies: Dies + GIVEAWAY

Hello! I have been struggling lately with creating… so I decided to lock myself into my craft room until I came up with something. I am glad I did! I had some fun stretching my dies and using them in fun ways.

Simon Says Stamp just released a bunch of fabulous dies and stamps and I just had to play with them right away. (You can see them HERE.) I used a few fun die cutting techniques that I hope you like.

For the focal point on each card, I used a die cut inlay technique (check out that video!) that resulted in parts of the words hanging off the main die cut. This is such a unique look… nice and smooth! The Simon Says Stamp Heart Smile Die is perfection and the Hero Arts Hearts Infinity Dies work great for this technique. Oh – and I used Shimmer Spritz on the black die cuts for shine.

For the second card, I used the same die cut inlay technique with the new Simon Says Stamp Miss You Die and Simon Says Stamp Heart Duet Die. Such a pretty embellishment thanks to that gorgeous sentiment. And check out how smooth it is…

For the background of both cards, I wanted something subtle yet shiny. I created my own stamp by die cutting craft foam with the Simon Says Stamp Clipping Heart Die. I temporarily adhered it to an acrylic block so I could stamp with it. I stamped repeatedly over the backgrounds of the cards with Versamark ink and heat embossed with the fabulous WOW Silver Pearl Embossing Powder. This powder gives a tone-on-tone look… with a touch of silver when you tilt it in the light.

  32. CreativelyBoz says:

Jennifer I am so drawn to your creativity! Drawn to your ORGANIZATION AND LABELING!

I can’t decide as I love everything but one of my favorites is the “Miss You” die. My oldest started her first semester at college. She is home for Christmas and we are baking and watching movies and enjoying the reason that we are celebrating this joyous holiday! I have lost both of my parent’s in the last three years and they lived directly accross the street from our family. My children were so blessed to have such loving and involved grandparents in their lives. I think the “Miss You” sums up how I am feeling all the way around these days. Sometimes it makes the holidays a little bit harder. This will be a great sentiment to send to Kate as I send a card every week! Sometimes more! Thank you for the inspiration and on some days you don’t realize it, but you give me just that extra nudge to get moving and creating in my happy place!

Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family Jennifer!

    Anne

easy and I always love the cards you make.

  37. shareasmile says:

This latest release Simon Says Stamp release is really full of awesome dies and stamps. Glad you shared the die inlay technique as well as creating a stamp from a die for a hearts background. The dies “Lucky to Know You” and “You Make My Heart Smile” would be a great addition to my craft room because the sentiment expresses so much feeling. I don’t have many stamps and dies yet (especially dies) as a new card maker, so it definitely helps so much to learn how to use my stamps and dies in different ways when I create. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Thanks for sharing, and I can so relate to getting creatively stuck. I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my cards lately and I let people know that I’m “just” trying out new techniques.
