Video: Snowfall Background
Hi there. Fall has arrived and it’s time to start cranking out some holiday cards! Today’s video shares how to add a fun snowfall background to your card. Oh – and I also show how I fixed a few mistakes along the way.

To create this happy card, I masked off three sides of a top folding note card and applied dots of Matte Multi Medium right along the edge of the mask working my way down the card to create a snowfall scene. While the adhesive was still wet, I shook on some Prills. Prills are a new-to-me and they are similar to microbeads. There are a variety of sizes in each jar and come in many different color combinations. I used the pearl color on this card.
I then added a fussy-cut, Copic-colored elf from the adorable My Favorite Things Santa’s Elves stamp set. I replaced the present image with a heart that I die cut out of white cardstock and colored with a matching Copic marker. After adhering the elf under the snowfall, I added a strip of pearl cardstock and heat embossed a coordinating sentiment. I did this to cover up a heat embossed sentiment that I didn’t like.
Confession: I do this a lot. I change gears. I mess up. And that’s okay! That is part of the fun of cardmaking. In the end, adding a small strip of cardstock saved the day. (Insert happy dance here!)
I also want to mention that my card was heavily inspired by a card created by my friend to Cristina Kowalczyk. Thanks for letting me share this technique, Cristina! (By the way, be sure to check out her awesome book HERE.)
