Video: Watercolor + Letterpress
Hello!
Today I am a guest over on the Simon Says Stamp Blog to celebrate Diecember – their month long focus on die cutting. My video shows a fun technique that combines watercolor and faux letterpress. This is just another great way to get more out of your dies!
I love making an impression in paper with my dies using an embossing mat. (Try the Tan Embossing Mat or Embossing Pads.) And I love watercolor. So why not combine them? I used Distress Markers – one of my favorite products – but you could use any type of coloring here. Just let the impression in the paper guide you.
This new SSS Heart Wreath die is great for this technique. I also layered up several white Hello die cuts and topped it with a glitter paper die cut…
This next card was simple and fast to pull together. Although I traced the Thanks impression with Distress Markers and then added water with a brush to give the watercolor look, it would have been fun just to trace it alone.
I wish you could see in real life the impression the die left. So cool.
On this next card, I blended two colors on each heart.
And, again, a raised die cut greeting. That glitter paper is subtle and soft. And no glitter rubs off. Woot!
For more info (and for a giveaway!), be sure to head to the Simon Says Stamp blog. They have lots of great die cutting techniques this month!
(I have a couple winners. The winner of the new SSS inks and paper is allisondj and the winner of the Purple Onion Design stamps is Joan Smith.)
