Video: Mirror Stamping + Giveaway!

Hello! I wanted to share with you a technique I have not done in a long time – mirror stamping. It seemed perfect for this cute deer stamp…

Mirror stamping is a technique stampers have been doing for years in many different ways. In this video, I shared my favorite way to get a mirror-image with heat embossing.

I simply stamped the adorable deer image from The Greeting Farm on a piece of clear transparency (acetate) with Versamark ink. I then pressed that down onto white cardstock to transfer the inked mirror image on to the cardstock. After adding gold powder and heat embossing it, I added soft color with Copic Markers. This results in a little deer that faces the opposite direction of what the stamp intended. Fun!

I added the deer to a cross-stitched-heart die cut from Memory Box and heat embossed the sentiment to match. To keep the card simple and soft, I used an ivory shimmer notecard. (I am a big fan of these shimmer cards!)

ADDITIONAL INSPIRATION

As I mentioned, there are many ways to do mirror stamping. One of the other best ways is to use the back of a clear stamp instead of a piece of acetate. To see this method in action, check out THIS video by my friend Chari Moss. (Thanks for letting me share your video, Chari.) I recommend that method if you want to use just a plain black ink instead of heat embossing. I will try to add this method into a future video, too.

In the video I also mentioned that my soft colors were inspired by one of my friends – Debby Hughes. I encourage you to check her out!

Finally, be sure to check out the newest release from The Greeting Farm. The little animals are adorable, easy to color and oh-so-happy! (The stamps are available at Simon Says Stamp HERE… or on The Greeting Farm website.)

Right now my favorite technique is embossing and playing around with “stained glass” technique. Thanks for sharing this technique, I always forget about this one. Have great rest of the week. Teresa

This is fantastic! I was just wondering about this the other day. I like using the double stamping technique. I’m not sure if this is the right name for it. You stamp like a balloon in one color then ink up your stamp in another color and wipe a bit off and then stamp over your original image. You will have a two tone balloon. I have seen both you and Kristina Werner use this. I will definatly use this technique. I learn so much from you! Thank You.

  3. PAT says:

TY. I do save for videos for information or techniques later on. I was wondering though, are you paid by these companies? Or you truly do love the products that are in your video’s. I’d hate to try a product that then find out it wasn’t what it claimed to be like the paper pens. I have never heard of them but I’m very interested. Especially if they go on as you claim; or as good as you said. I know everyone has their own opinion; but I DO count on other crafters before I run out and buy a product or order it. Thank you Jennifer for all your wonderful video information and talents. You and Kristina Were are the best. Sorry if I misspelled her name; or anything for that matter. Lol
    Have a great crafty day

I like trying the rocking stamp technique, but I’m terrible at it. I’m just happy to get a good clean stamp. The Misti you spoke about in one of your videos is on my next list of Must Haves. Tyfs

  12. Rachel D. says:

Oh my favorite stamping technique is stamping the image or sentiment straight or without smudging it- LOL!! It’s not a big surprise if you see about 2-3 of the same image that I tried stamping at my work space and if you were to turn the image over, I bet you’d find the same one stamped on the back just smudged!) Ha!

  13. christi says:

  40. Thank you so much for showing this technique ! I’ve always wondered how you can stamp an image in opposite direction. I have a floral stamp set and one of the stemmed flowers leans to the right and I was wondering how I can make it face the left when I do bouquet type arrangements with these stamps. (n_n) Now I have to remember to never throw out those plastic sheets that come with the stamp sets or any plastic sheet. Thank you for all your wonderful card videos ! Hope I win the stamp set.

  41. Tami B says:

  46. Bastelpandas Welt says:

    °^-^°

  47. Susan W says:

What a cute card and great technique!

My go to technique is to stamp sentiments with Onyx Black Versafine ink and then emboss with clear embossing powder. I love the way the sentiments “stand up” a little.

As always, thanks for your awesome videos and tips!
