Video: Mirror Stamping + Giveaway!

Hello! I wanted to share with you a technique I have not done in a long time – mirror stamping. It seemed perfect for this cute deer stamp…

Mirror stamping is a technique stampers have been doing for years in many different ways. In this video, I shared my favorite way to get a mirror-image with heat embossing.

I simply stamped the adorable deer image from The Greeting Farm on a piece of clear transparency (acetate) with Versamark ink. I then pressed that down onto white cardstock to transfer the inked mirror image on to the cardstock. After adding gold powder and heat embossing it, I added soft color with Copic Markers. This results in a little deer that faces the opposite direction of what the stamp intended. Fun!

I added the deer to a cross-stitched-heart die cut from Memory Box and heat embossed the sentiment to match. To keep the card simple and soft, I used an ivory shimmer notecard. (I am a big fan of these shimmer cards!)

ADDITIONAL INSPIRATION

As I mentioned, there are many ways to do mirror stamping. One of the other best ways is to use the back of a clear stamp instead of a piece of acetate. To see this method in action, check out THIS video by my friend Chari Moss. (Thanks for letting me share your video, Chari.) I recommend that method if you want to use just a plain black ink instead of heat embossing. I will try to add this method into a future video, too.

In the video I also mentioned that my soft colors were inspired by one of my friends – Debby Hughes. I encourage you to check her out!

Finally, be sure to check out the newest release from The Greeting Farm. The little animals are adorable, easy to color and oh-so-happy! (The stamps are available at Simon Says Stamp HERE… or on The Greeting Farm website.)
