On my wall…

Many people have asked what I do with the projects I create.

Cards? Most I send. Some I donate. A few get pitched.

Layouts? They all go into a box, waiting to someday make it into an album.

Mini albums? I never know what to do with them, so I don’t ever make them. 🙂

And rarely – just rarely – do I put out on display something I have made.

But this one? It is out in my studio so that I can see it often. I just love the photo…

I actually made this one for CHA over a year ago – for Tim Holtz to use in his Idea-ology booth. It was a fun one to create…

Just layered and stitched lots of Idea-ology fun on it…

This photo is extra special to me because I actually remember when it was taken. Colin was a bitty one and I was so very happy. But when he turned 6 weeks, I was hit with postpartum depression and the next 6 months were a blur. But those first 6 weeks? I remember them clearly. And this photo captures that time. Thank God for photos.

Off to relax. This week has been trying. Looking forward to a fresh start tomorrow!

Night.

How precious! He was a beautiful baby and you look radiant. As for the postpartum depression – I understand all too fully. But in a way I almost treasure those pictures I took during it more because I know God truly blessed me in those times and helped me persevere through it.

Your project really touched my heart. How beautiful and how happy you were in that picture at that special moment. Now look at the wonderful young person Colin has become under the guidance of his wonderful parents. Aren’t photos wonderful memories? Thanks for sharing this special time in your life and the special project you made.

What a beautiful project capturing a precious moment.

  6. What a precious photo. I know what you mean about this photo being extra special because you can remember it. I’m still recovering from Post Natal Depression. I have a large chunk of time that’s blank from when my daughter was about 3 weeks to about 6 months, so the photos I can remember being taken, are the photos that mean the most to me. Thanks for sharing your special photo!

THANKS FOR BEING HONEST ABOUT WHAT YOU WENT THROUGH! ALL TOO OFTEN THE PRESSURE OF MOTHERHOOD SHUNS WOMEN INTO SECRECY ABOUT THOSE REAL AND NOT SO PLEASANT EXPERIENCES. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP UP THE LOVELY WORK!

Precious photo, Jennifer, just precious! Love the frame you made. I’m so sorry you experienced such a bad time with postpartum depression. I had a close friend go through that plus she had the added stress of insomnia for that whole first year. So wonderful that the Lord heals all our hurts!

Beautiful picture. Makes me think that I should go back and scrapbook the pictures that I remember before and after the PPD. I have put off doing the album because I feel guilty not remembering half of the first year. PPD sucks!

    Dear Jennifer,
I was deeply touched by your hearfelt creation and text. I too have suffered from post-partum depression and can’t seem to remember those months clearly neither. My son is now an active, sweet and smart 7-year-old who makes my life so complete. Thanks for being honest about what you’ve suffered through. Have a great week 😉

  35. Amber B says:

Love this! Suffered through postpartum with my first little guy almost immediatly after I left the hospital, and just had my second and THANKFULLY did not have that challenge again! Only a woman who has suffered through it could understand what it was like! I love that you celebrate getting through it without shame, since for so many women it so shameful and makes you feel so unworthy of the precious life you just recieved! Thanks for the sweet share, lifted my soul al little!

  36. Courtney Taylor says:

I love all of the things that you do. Postpartum depression can be such a trciky thing and I was lucky enough not to have it at all the first time and only for a very short time with my second one. Honestly I think that it was harder the second time because you are missing precious time with two babies instead of just one 🙁 I am glad that pictures can make the memories come back though! Always excited to see projects you post and giveaways!

  37. Melanie says:
