For some odd reason I save the useable yet small pieces of paper when I made cards. This year at Christmas I decided to make Christmas tags with these leftovers. What a great idea! I used all of them and plan to do the same this year. I am going to use them as Christmas gifts and it will be of little cost to me!
Thans for a chance to win!

  2. Anne Marie B says:

Those look amazing! My tip would be to have two containers. One for cardstock scraps and one for pattern paper scraps! I almost always dig through those containers to make my cards. I very rarely use full sheets.

  3. tape says:

Hmm, a crafty tip… you can use Q-tips to apply chalk!

  4. Cassi says:

my tip, put your toys (crafts) away when you’re done with them. it’s so much easier to do a project when you don’t have clutter staring you down!

i’m super excited for your dvds!

  5. My crafty tip is make the best use of your space…. if you have everything on the horizontal, it’ll take up a lot of room.. go vertical (in my case, 47inch tall bookcases stacked on top of each other) and I use less floor footprint, and get more storage at the same time!

Another tip is:when making cards, and you need to punch out something, leave a border around the area you are going to punch. You then have an image you can sponge colour into on another card 😀

To make glow in the dark glimmer mist. Wear gloves then just take a highlihgter and take it a part remove the felt piece and cut it from top to bottom now in a bowl rinse it with about 1/8 cup of water. If you want a very strong solution let the felt sit in the water bowl. In a mini mister mix your perfect pearls with the highlighter water and magic now you have a glow in the dark glimmer mist. Do know it does not last long. I am going to try it with alcohol next time I need to make a tag. You can also use it on fabric.

I’m always looking for inspiration…whih is why I come to your blog! I’d love to own a piece of your handiwork via the videos! Definitely add my name to the drawing!

  8. bethann disciasco says:

my craft tip is to store paper scraps in the extra large zip lock bags along w the intact sheets in the same color family. you don’t need to cut a while sheet of paper when you just need a smidge. i’ve made lots of cards w just these leftovers.

  9. Donelda says:

A crafty tip … mmmmmm, sort your scraps by color and go to that location first when looking for smaller pieces of cardstock or designer paper. Saves a lot of wasted paper and money!! which means you can buy more 🙂

  10. Patti Johnson says:

I’d love to get my hands on these videos!! My tip isn’t my own, but I’ve come to really love the results by using it. I read somewhere on a blog (probably here:)) that if you spray your cardstock lightly with water before putting it through an embossing folder the impression will be better! I tried it and love the results. Something small but helpful. My favorite way to get that water on there are the mini misters you’ve promoted several times!! I love them, no big splotchy mess but really nice even coating!

  11. Cindy says:

Love love love your creativity! Would love to learn more!

I would love to win one of these DVDs! I’ve always wanted to take one of your classes but since I live in California that doesn’t look promising. My favorite crafty tip is to have a dedicated table/desk/tv tray that you can leave the layout on so even if you only have a couple minutes you can do something with it each day until it’s done. With 3 kids of my own and a 20month old I babysit that’s the only way I squeeze in scrapbooking time during the day.

  13. natalie m says:

wow, I just read everyones posts and there are some great tips I will try too! Here are a few of mine and I hope these will come in handy! Have a great day! 🙂

I add pigment power (like pearlx) to clear embossing powder and make my own soft and pearly colors.
Make your own flock with a bag of pom pom balls from the craft section of the dollar store.
Write the name of distress ink color in black magic marker on the back of each foam pad for distress inks. This way each color has it’s own pad that can be reused.
save the metal tops of the frozen orange juice containers (like minute maid) and use them for circle tags and to make embellishments
save the tops of cereal and cracker boxes that can be used as chipboard for cutting in cricut machine
After cutting out a stamped image I take a black magic marker or distress ink and lightly run it on the edge of the white card stock for a nice finished look.
Set up an area in your craft room to display hand made cards and scrapbook pages for inspiration.
use a white gel pen or a bit of white acrylic paint on a tooth pick to cover small unwanted ink marks on white card stock

I’d love to win one of your videos. Living in TX it’s impossible to get to your classes. I love that you’ve shared so many ideas already

My crafty tip…when you’re makeing a messy background…make some more while you have the mess going already. That way you have “instant” backgrounds for that hurry up project.

  15. Carla Riley-Felt says:

    Crafty Tip, hmmmm
I have the most fun when I copy the experts – like you!

  16. Christin Dukes says:

I would love to win one of those videos! My crafty tip is to save the ribbon that comes on so many non craft things I purchase for example I rec’d 2 photo albums for Christmas and they were tied together with a wide ribbon. Also, had some ribbon that held together my pajamas. My husband just rolls his eyes everythime I take the ribbon from cards or whatever. LOL!

  17. Oh, wow… I would love to win those DVDs! They look sooo fun!!!

  18. Jan Nolte says:

Wonderfully done and creatively fantastic. Good job to the entire staff!

  19. Dawn G says:

Wow! I cannot wait to see these. Your videos are awesome! My tip is not new by any means but it helps me the most. Keep a hanging folder with your paper scraps organized by color (I include patterned paper by color in the same file as the solid) and when you need paper, check the scrap file first. I use my scraps so much more this way. And it’s also easy for the kids to pull from when they create!

  20. Missy K. says:

I thought these were great when you first posted them. Now I can’t wait to find them in stores.

  21. Patricia Swagler says:

I love watching your video’s and visiting your blog as they always inspire me. My craft tip is I buy my embellishments in white, as this way I can color them myself to match my project.

  22. Deb says:

It’s great fun to read everyone’s tips! More heads are better than one! My contribution would be to use “dummy sheets” of paper from my recycle bin when I try out a new stamp set. I cut them to standard card size, pull out a couple of different color ink pads, and play with the stamp elements until I get a design I like. Then I commit to my “real” cardstock so I can conserve resources for the ones that will really work!

  23. I love your how-to videos, I bet those dvds are just as much fun to watch! Since I am in Europe I can’t come to your classes so I migth just have to grab me those DVDs 🙂

As a tip.. I love making ATCs and they are also great to use ON postcards!

  24. I use scrap cardstock from my office to make cuts on my cutting machine to be sure it’s exactly what I want before wasting precious dp. I love recycling too!

  25. Maude Beakley says:

Those videos look like they would be SOOO helpful. I like to create my own background papers using things like: bubble wrap, sea sponge, coarse salt on really wet water color(sprinkle the salt on and let it dry — it creates a fun pattern.) and stamping with rubber bands wrapped around a piece of scrap wood.

  26. Nicole says:

I am just getting started and either of these would be GREAT

  27. Caroline says:

Tips to you!!! ROFLOL as Julie Her Royal Rubberness would say. Only thing I can think of is too look in the kitchen section of a store like Bed, Bath & Beyond and in the hardware store for organization. Don’t pay those crazy craft store prices!

  28. 1. Jennifer you are an awesome teacher and I would love to win of of these!
    2. Ladies, great tips!
    3. My tip actually is inspired by Jen. When I was at one of her classes, we used fabric napkins to wipe extra ink, glue, mist, etc. So when I returned home, I cut up 2 old PJ’s I was going to throw away (after recuperating the buttons and the trim!)and use them to wipe my work space. I put the soiled ones in a bag and when I am almost through my stash I do a wash. I am saving a lot on paper towels and baby wipes.

  29. Liza says:

I would love to win these DVD’s they look like great resources!

My tip: save cardboard from cereal boxes and other food boxes and reuse them for covers on notebooks, or small scrapbooks that you make, just cover them with paper. It saves money, and it creates less trash! =)

  30. My biggest problem when I stamp is that I always get ink on the back of my cards. It drives me insane. My tip is to use a piece of computer paper to do your inking on (like color resist when you are using a lot of ink) then remove the card and finish it on your normal work surface. I have spared many cards this way. 🙂

Love the idea of these dvd’s can’t wait to see one up closer and personal 🙂

  31. Sherri says:

The DVDs look great! My tip is very unglamourous — keep an old hand towel in your lap or on the back of your chair when stamping. Easy handwiping means fewer cards ruined by stray fingerprints!

  32. can’t believe I could have you right here in my home !! that doesn’t sound stalkerish right ?:)

  33. you are so good to share !!

  34. Randa McNair says:

thanks for the chance to win!

  35. Leslie R. says:

Oh what a fantastic give-away! My crafty tip would to always have clear gems or white pearls on hand for embellies…you can always color them to match whatever you are working on.

  36. Amazing!!!! I would love love love to win a DVD!!!! So inspiring!!!
A crafty Tip from me would be: Always stay organized!!!!! I’ve had to learn the hard way, too many times!! LOL The more organized you are the more you will be able to get crafty and find the things you are looking for!!!
I hate having to search for certain stamps, paper, inks, punches. I finally got myself as organized as possible and I am loving it!!!

  37. Nancy S says:

Wowza! A chance to craft with you at home–what a treat that would be!

My crafty tip is for storing ribbon. I tend to buy it whenever it is on sale, so I have tons. I bought an inexpensive frame ledge (designed to hold picture frames) and hung it on the wall. It holds a boatload of ribbon reels and it is easy to remove them one or more at a time to use.

    thanks for all you do.

  38. Sam F says:

Well, I don’t know if I have a crafty tip that no one has heard before…but when making a card, I try to always make two. They can be exactly the same or nearly the same but use all the products I have out. Then I always seem to have an extra card on hand when I need it.

  39. Connie F. says:

When I make a card I really like, I always make one more before I mail it—and if I have time, I cut out all the pieces for 7 more while I still remember the measurements. Then, I can bring a bag of pre-cut card components to work and put together a batch of cards on my lunch hour. By the end of the year, I have a great selection of cards to give to friends for Christmas gifts—they love them! I am so inspired by you—I would love to win one of your DVD’s. I check your blog every morning with my coffee and am always inspired by something you have posted. Thanks for the chance to win!

chell’idea quella di aver fatto dei dvd!!! capisco poco l’inglese e non mi è chiaro cos’è un crafty tip…
    grazie dellopportunità

  42. Dana D. says:

Wonderful giveaway. My tip is to use fabric softener sheets to rub on paper before applying embossing powder. I actually had one brand not work at all, but all the others seem to be just fine. I buy what ever is on sale.

  43. pepper says:

Hi Jennifer! Thanks for giving us the chance to win! I’m excited! I stay too far away to come to one of your classes, though i crave to attend one myself. but a dvd will do great! I follow all your online classes , the thinking inking series:)

. My crafting tips : I recycle a lot of toilet/tissue rolls, which can be flatten and made into scrapbook albums or add into your layout as a pocket! This is not only environmentally friendly, but there are also lots of creative ways to work with them!

ONce again thanks, and hopefully there are good news soon!

    I so love Hero Arts!

  45. barbara lassiter says:

My crafty tip is to stamp each stamp I own on a 4×6 card and store the card in a 4×6 photo album. They are all labeled, etc.and when I need an idea, if I’m having a dry spell,I can check to see what’s available. Plus it helps me keep up with what I have.

  46. Emily Greilach says:

wow!! some of my friends have these dvds… they r amazing!!thnx so much for giving them away!!!!
my crafty tip is…. that whenevr u die cut something from your circut.. cut alot more of that same shape so if u mess up or need another, you have lots lieng around, and then u dont need 2 go back to your circut and cut that shape out again!! =)
thnx again for the giveawaya!! i would looove 2 !! =)

  47. DeAnn says:

I would love to learn some new ideas!

  48. Mel H says:

My crafty tip is to use the super cheapo, discounted after the holiday cupcake wrappers to create the neat pleated flowers everyone is making now. just trim out the middle and circle and glue. You might have to trim excess depending on the wrapper.

  49. Kathy H says:

I have a couple crafty tips-1.) to get your card to lay nice and flat without the shiny crease marks from the boning tool, lay a sheet of blank printer paper over your card, find the fold, now take your boning tool and while pressing firmly draw it over the top of the fold. Turn your card over and repeat. A nice flat card, no shiny marks:)
2.) if you use an electronic cutter to make titles for your cards/layouts, keep the negative space and use it as a guide to perfectly spaced letters!

  50. Rosalie says:

These DVDs look awesome!!! My tip . . . I love clear stamps but found them hard to store so that I could find what I wanted quickly. Problem solved. I use page protectors in a 3-ring binder and slip the clings out of their bag but leave them on the clear plastic paper they are clinging to and slip that into a page protector sleeve. Easy to find and a binder holds many packages.
