  2. Pai says:

hmm, me give you a crafty tip? surely you jest! my crafty tip would probably be to follow your blog! 🙂

  3. Lisa says:

oops… for got the tip. Keep your workspace neat & remember crafting is all about self-expression. If you like it, it’s great!

  4. Lindsey says:

These DVDs look so cool!! 🙂

My tip: Save the waxy ‘trash’ from your Glue Dots/Zots rolls. If you are trying to remove a glued down element from a project, you can shimmy under it with the waxy strip and, a lot of the time, remove it with out tearing the paper.

I would love to win one of your dvd’s. My crafty tip is to save empty prescription bottles to put small embellishments (like small buttons or jewels) in.

I love and collect sketch ideas from various sources, but scrap in 8.5 x 11. If I see a 12 x 12 sketch online, I resize it in Microsoft Word to 8.5 x 11 cm. and cut it out. This size fits into a 3 x 5 recipe card holder. This way I can see in miniature whether the sketch would work in the different size and can also measure (each cm. is an inch)the size of the photos needed. The sketches are sorted according to the number of photos on each making it very easy to select possible sketch ideas for my layouts. I love color and would love to win the hero hues. Thanks for that chance!

Not that I’m an expert to be sharing tips but here goes: when planning die cuts for cards I always cut several at once out of the one or two colours I’m using so that when I mess up one [which I usually do] I have another one or two to keep going with. Thanks for the chance to win!

  8. Sheri says:

Awesome dvds! I tend to change my mind about what I want where in my craft room so my husband suggested that I take the repossitionable hooks from 3M (I think) and hang the little pails I keep stuff in (dollar bin at Target) and hang them on the wall above where I work. They can be moved and don’t mess up the paint!

  9. Leslie H. says:

A crafty tip…um…..look through magazines for color schemes and other inspiration when you can’t think of anything. Inspiration will strike soon. Thanks for the chance to win!

  10. Cassaundra Lala says:

Would love to check out the DVDs. My crafty tip – use a brayer to apply pressure evenly when using a background stamp.

  11. Susan says:

I really don’t have a crafty comment other than I keep a safety pin on my BG magnetic mat at all times for cleaning out the tip of Glossy Accents or Stickles! I would love to learn more from you. I have learned so much from the Thinking Inking classes and your other amazing videos! Thanks for posting about the giveaway!

  12. Cathy says:

The DVDs looks great and I would love to win one. Hmm, a crafting tip–if I see a card I like in a magazine or online, sometimes I will just copy part of the card. I might use the color scheme or the layout or perhaps the theme, but then I’ll put my own spin on it.

  13. Verona H says:

I love taking classes and these Videos would be a second best. I went to a quilt store in December looking for embellishments for scrapbooking and cardmaking and found tiny ball fringe and lots of other goodies, so we don’t have to limit ourselves to the scrapbook stores.

  14. Angel says:

Pretty daunting to try to give any crafting tip to Jennifer McGuire, but for a chance to win these fabulous DVD’s here is one idea I would like to share.

A few years ago, three of us couples took a trip to Jamaica. Recently, we three ladies got together for a weekend to scrapbook the trip. We found we had many of the same pictures and decided to divide the pictures up by subjects/pages
and rather than each of us creating pages for every subject, we only made one layout for each subject.

We simply had 2 copies of each page copied onto 12 x 12 photo paper which look like digital layouts. Not only did we complete our scrapbooks in 1/3 the time, we now each have albums filled with the wonderful and varied styles making them extra special treasures. This is a nice tip for ancestry scrapbooks or shared family holidays or events.

  15. Aussie Emma says:

Love the dvd classes! What a fab idea! My tip is I don’t have a large size stamping block instead I use a clear cuttlebug plate for large stamps. Works like a gem. Cheers and thanks.

  16. Jessica B. says:

how awesome! my tip is to stay organized- have a spot for everything and keep it that way, it’ll make your crafty time so much easier and quicker and you’ll have more fun not having to look everywhere for something!

  17. Kimberly says:

Can’t wait to get to see these videos! Yahoo!

My tip – create a punch template. Cut card stock into approximately 2 by 3 inches, then take each of your punches and punch the card. Label the punched card. Put all of these on a binder ring so that when you wonder if a stamp will fit in a punch, simply pull out the template and I lay it over the stamp. Voila! Super simple solution.

A second quick tip – I also have one of these binder rings with samples of my ‘go to’ card stock from SU and PTI. That way if I see something at Michaels or AC Moore or my local stamping store and I wonder if it will coordinate with my stash of card stock, I can pull the ring out and see. Also a great way for testing out how coordinating colors might look together.

  18. Toni says:

Wow I would love to win one of your dvd’s. My favorite tip is while you have all your stuff out after you finish a LO make a card with your leftovers.

  19. Cindi says:

Oooh, what fun it would be to win a DVD. The tips shared here are awesome. Great idea to ask for tips! My tip : I corrugate a piece of card stock just smaller than my card and place it in the envelope covering the card front. It acts as a cushion to keep embellishments from poking through the envelope when the post office processes it.

  20. Jessica Hess says:

When I’m making a card I often make several of the same design. It saves time and effort. If I am making one card I often use all the scraps to make a similar one with the leftovers.

  21. My tip is to definitely have a revolving craft organizer on your work area. Having all of your most used tools at your finger tips saves so much time.

  22. Jackie says:

The DVDs look wonderful! It’s late and the only crafty tip that comes to mind is that if you need repositionable tape and don’t have any, you can use some painters tape instead.

  23. DeniseB says:

I’d love to win one of your DVDs… they look great!
My crafty tip is to cut and score cardstock for cards while you sit and watch TV. I usually buy 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock, so I like preparing it ahead of time so I can get right in to the fun part of creating the card when I’m ready!

  24. CrazyCurl says:

    These DVDs look fun!

My tip is… when using glue dots, press the item you wan the glue dot on up against the sheet of dots (while the dot is still on the roll) instead of trying to take it off the roll and then use it.

  25. Jan in Tucson says:

Would LOVE to win one of these DVD’s to share with all my stampin’ buddies. My tip…before you throw away a sticky note, rub it between the keys of your computer keyboard to pick up any crumbs. You KNOW they’re there. 😉

  26. Robin W says:

These videos look wonderful! I have learned so much from your thinking inking videos at 2peas. My tip is to use a lint roller to pick up all the little bits of paper, glitter, thread, and whatever else that covers your work area after a crafting session. I keep one at my craft table, and nothing keeps those little bits picked up so quickly and easily. Thanks for the chance to win!!

  27. Donna says:

How fun to have one of those DVD’s on hand! What inspiration! My tip is to follow your tips! I just put my clear stamps into the three ring binders like you did and I really like it. I don’t have all the binders that you do, but maybe someday! 🙂 I really do like the set up, so much easier to see what I have.
    Thank you for the giveaway!

  28. Lorrie Jonas says:

Wow! how awesome!! Love watching all your videos on Two peas. The classes are always fun and easy to learn. Thank You so much for giving us a chance to will such a fantastic product.. Love your teaching.

  29. Sandra ltb says:

I do a lot of punch art and die cutting – I edge all my pieces with one of the distress inks – it makes the images pop and not look flat.
    Thanks for the fun Jennifer!

  30. lacyquilter says:

What a great giveaway. My tip is: use the sticky side of masking tape to remove glitter or embossing powder from an ink pad.

  31. Sandy K says:

Jennifer I have learned so many great techniques from you videos online. I loved your Thinking Inking and Holiday Thinking Inking classes and shared them with all my friends. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!!

  32. Thank you for your continuous generosity Jennifer. I would love one of these DVD’s, I am sure they are amazing! My crafty tip is something I recently learned from a crafting friend, and that is to use every little scrap of patterned paper and just stamp some of your favourite images on it for later use, such as those awesome butterflies and shells from the Hero Arts Antique Engravings set. As I am addicted to the butterflies it adds great embellishments on projects.

  33. Holly says:

I would love these! Here’s my crafty tip…I put a rubberband around each of my distress inks with the blending foam that I use for that color. Keeps the ink closed nice and tight while also keeping the foam with it.

  34. I love keeping my ribbon in glass jars. But I’ve mostly seen the ribbon on clothespins to keep it tidy and it just took up too much room. So I keep mine tidy with white twist ties. It keeps even the most unruly ribbon tamed and the ribbon still looks awesome in the jars!

  35. Paulette S. in MO says:

    Jennifer,
What a nice blog candy, I love all of your tips and techniques. Everyone has given such good tips! Did you know you can sharpen your dies by cutting aluminum foil from the kitchen(I fold a piece once/gives you 2 layers or fold it twice/gives you 4 layers, and cut it with the normal sandwich for your machine),and then lubricate the die by cutting wax paper a couple of times, just like we do our punches when they start cutting roughly.

  36. Magali says:

I would love to win! I do not really have a tip to share, I am a beginner 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win!

  37. Jaya says:

Aw! Wonderful Jennifer. I think the next best thing to actually going for ur class 🙂

    Congratulations and God bless.

My tip to keep scouting for anything that can go on a card – at the local stationers.

  38. sue w. says:

How nice of you to give away a couple of the DVDs.
    My crafty tip:
when I don’t want to grab my bone folder to crease my cardstock to create a note card……I just butt the card up to the top of my guilletine cutter and fold my card in half….makes a straight fold every time.

  39. A crafty tip, eh? When you want to do some faux stitching on a project and want the holes evenly placed, use a piece of plastic canvas to space the holes. Easy peasy!

  40. Shirley L. says:

Great video!! These videos would make gifts, especially for people who are just starting out. I have bookmarked a lot of your wonderful videos because your ideas are so awesome. So one could do the same thing with these new videos. Would love to win one of them. My crafty tip came from you, my dear. I like to stamp a lot of images, color them while I’m watching television, and make up sets of card for gifts. I end up making more sets than I had planned and have extra gifts for people. Awesome! Thanks again for being so generous.

  41. Marieke Valk says:

Love all your work! My tip for clean and crisp images when using clear stamps: use a mousepad under your cardstock.
Hope you will come to Europe someday, so I can meet you!

  42. MelissaK says:

What a wonderful chance to learn something from your new DVD’s!!

My favorite craft tip? If you machine stitch on paper, you don’t need to backstitch at the beginning or end of your stitching to lock off your “seam”. After you complete your “seam” and cut the thread off the machine, flip your paper over. If you pull on the tail of the bobbin thread gently you will see that the top thread will form a small loop on the backside. Using the tip of a pin you can pull the top thread to the bottom side of the paper, make a little knot to secure the “seam”, or just use scotch tape to hold the threads in place. No messy backstitching on the front of the paper!

Thanks for the giveaway, and thanks to everyone for the wonderful ideas!

  43. Carmen says:

Looking forward to be one of the lucky winners!!
Your techniques are awesome and I have learn a lot by watching you videos here as well as Two peas in a bucket.
    Keeping my fingers cross!!

  44. Samantha D says:

Thank you for the chance to win these great DVD’s.
My crafty tip: Invest in a pair of scissors made to cut sticky things that won’t stick. You will be so glad you did.

  45. Linda Trace says:

what a fantastic giveaway!! Thanks so much for the chance…i have 2 tips my first, don’t try to be something you’re not. If you’re good at inking, then do inking, if you’re better with simple card-bases but lots of embellishing, then go with that. Don’t try to make cards the way someone else does. It just wont feel right

My 2nd tip: watch as MANY Jennifer McGuire videos on this blog and on youtube as you possibly can. I watched them RELIGIOUSLY and over and over, and she taught me everything I knwo 🙂

    thanks Jennifer 🙂

  46. Jodi R says:

These sound great! My crafty tip is to use all of your kids extra artwork for crafty projects…we make envelopes, wrap gifts with larger sheets, create tags etc. Both of my kids love to draw and using their stuff makes good sense on many levels, plus it always makes my family members smile.

  47. Robyn says:

Your videos are always really well done so Hero Arts couldn’t have picked a better person to do these DVD’s! I know they’re going to be wonderful and full of clever techniques and designs!

  48. Janet Ribet says:

Oooh! The opportunity to take a course from you is too good to miss – and this is the only way I’m going to get one as I live on a small island in the Indian Ocean.
My tip is if you’re trying to thread a ribbon through a slit in the paper, wrap a strip of paper or card around the point and it makes it so much easier.

  49. Allison says:

Oh I’m so excited for you and hope to have these DVDs in my hands in the near future! I first learned of you via YouTube and your Thinking Inking series in 2009. I was instantly hooked. You make the best videos and have the most amazing techniques to share.
A crafty tip I have is color coordination. I think if you keep to a set of colors, your project will look instantly better than having a bunch of random colors everywhere. That’s just my opinion, though! 🙂

  50. Kelley says:

The videos would be a great addition to my craft room!

My tip, I keep the Crystal Light oval containers and have my Copics in them. I have them separated by Broad Classification and as I get more containers, by the Intermediate Classification. The best thing, I can grab the container, lay it down and it doesn’t roll.
