Button and Flower Organization

Hi!

Just thought I would link you to my button and flower organization that is on the GG Team Blog on 2peas.  You can see it HERE.  (If the link doesn’t work, go HERE then look on the bottom of the left sidebar and click GG Team Blog.)

Have a good Saturday!  It is rainy here – blech!  Have any rainy day ideas for a 2, 10 and 13 year old? 🙂

  1. Well… I dunno if your girls would be into it or not, but I would’ve been when I was 10 or 13… build a fort out of couch cushions and have a picnic in it! Or… turn on some really loud music, get a couple of hair brushes to use as mics, and have a dance party! 🙂 Haha okay… those might be cheesy ideas, but they always entertained me! Hope you guys find something good to do 🙂

  2. Let Colin stump in puddles in his rain boots! It’s so much fun for them to get all dirty once in a while. And after that you could take turns dressing up like someone famous and others will guess who you are.

  3. Hi Jennifer!

Where did you get your jars? I love the size of yours & wouldn’t mind getting some like that…just curious.

    Thanks!

  4. Dress up is always fun. Then have a fashion show. Kay can be the commentator describing the outfits. Playing restaurant is always fun, too. Cut up veggies as the food to serve to the customers. How about Kay reading to the younger ones and everyone acting out the stories? The parents can guess what story they are telling. Make costumes out of paper, etc.

Wish we had your rain in California. Our air is so bad with all the fires that many outside activities are cancelled.

  5. Hello! Cute buttons and flowers. This is how I store my Ribbon although they are outgrowing their jars!! I do not have as many buttons to fit in jars yet! Flowers maybe! I would like to do my ribbon how you do yours!

  6. I love how those buttons and flowers look in glass jars… I travel to crops, so that idea didn’t work for me,( I did try it!).

Try a simple board game for all ages. When I was a little girl my Mom would let me line the couch cushions up on the floor and do tumbling on them. It would keep us busy for hours.

Our family was at Coney Island during this downpour. We are now home enjoying the air condition. The girls and I are making cards.

  8. Love those jars Jennifer. I have a decent size button collection but instead of dividing by color, I divided it by size. Mini, average, and large. My small buttons were always falling to the jar. Its easy for me to pick a color from there. TFS!
OH, I wanted to add that my 5 year old daughter helped me. She loved it. I did put my clear buttons in their own jar though.

  9. Maybe you could ship Kay off to Australia to help me organise all my stuff, she really has done a great job.
I don’t know that I have any more original ideas for the kids other than the ones already suggested. I used to rug the boys up when they were little (the four boys now range between 9 and 17)and walk regardless of the rain until they were worn out and then go home for hot chocolate and curl up in front of the fire with a good video or craft activity. Face painting was another fun thing we would do especially if I would let them do mine, they loved that and it makes for great photo opps, lol.

  10. Hope your day turned out OK, despite the rain! love your organization! Do you worry about keeping things by manufacturer, etc?

Hmmm, it looks like you have gotten some fun rainy day activities, sometimes I take the couch cushions off and spread them around the floor, and hop with my girls from cushion to cushion, pretending that the floor is water…and we can’t fall in. 🙂

  11. oh, just thought of something else…

if you’re doing laundry-get everyone to pitch in and then take your clean paired socks and have an indoor snowball fight!

  12. I would have them make play dough. The 2 year old would have a blast mixing it all up. The girls could do the stirring.

  13. When I try to look at your flower storage it takes me to -two peas in a bucket -which is closed down. Is this info anywhere else?

  14. That site is now closed.
I’m looking for a way to organize my self-adhesive embellishments – you know, the kind on a card with adhesive backs on them. Thanks for any ideas!
