Colored Pencils and Gamsol + GIVEAWAY

Hello and welcome! Today I am sharing how I like to color with colored pencils and gamsol. I am also part of a fun event!

I have been receiving a lot of questions about colored pencils, so I thought I would share another video on how I do colored pencil coloring. I am not an expert, but rather just show easy ways to get good, fast results.

My first example features a FUN image and sentiment from the Honey Bee Gather Together Stamp Set (SSS | EH | HB). I stamped it with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink (SSS | EH) on Gina K Artist Choice Cardstock and added lots of simple coloring with my Chameleon Colored Pencils and Gamsol Kit (SSS | EH).

I show how to use Chameleon Colored Pencils today. These pencils are great for on-the-go coloring and also as a basic set for beginners, etc. I like that the pencils have two ends so picking two colors to go together is effortless. I also used my Gamsol Kit (SSS | EH). If you aren’t comfortable with using gamsol (please use safely), you can try baby oil instead. Some people like using baby oil… I just find gamsol much better/easier.

For the background, I used the cloud stencil from the Honey Bee Outdoor Scene Builder Stencils (SSS | HB) along with Broken China Distress Oxide Ink. (I first masked my animal images with a mask cut from Avery Removable Adhesive Sheets with the coordinating die.)

My second card was fun to make! I did quick coloring of a bird from the Honey Bee Snow Birds Stamp Set (SSS | EH | HB)… again using Chameleon Colored Pencils and my Gamsol Kit (SSS | EH). Isn’t that bird so cute!?

I added it to a card I created using the Honey Bee Coffee Card Gift Holder Dies (SSS | EH | HB). This die set is so creative! When you open the coffee cup, there is a gift card inside along with a space to write your message. This die set is easy to use.

  5. These are fantastic ideas. I cant wait to order and get started!!! In case anyone has issues with gamsol..due to it being a little strong for some people, mona lisa odorless thinner works just the same. I am good with both, but gamsol causes headaches in some people.

  11. You make it look so easy, Jennifer. I’ll have to try it. I love to color as I think it’s relaxing. Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to everyone.

  12. Thanks for sharing Jennifer, did you know that you can also blend the Chameleon pencils with the Chameleon blender pen or even a versamark pen? I have tried blending them with lots of different mediums and they all seem to work, which means we crafters can get more use out of our existing stash 💛

  13. Thank you for your video showing how to use this technique. Can’t wait to try it. What pen did you use to make the stripes on the scarf?

  14. I used to use colored pencils as my favorite coloring medium until the Prismacolor breakage got to be too much. I recently purchased the Polychromos, and I think I’ll get the Luminescence, too. The suggestion to use the Alcohol Blending Pen filled with Gamsol is going to be wonderful. TFS!
