Stamping retreat goodness

Hey there!  My husband finally got home on Wednesday, safe and sound.  So happy.  We spent the day as a family and then I turned around to head to a stamping retreat with my friends.  It is the last trip to this favorite place of mine, since they are closing due to family commitments.  Boo!  We have been laughing like crazy – so good for the soul.

Just popping in to share a card that went up on the Hero Arts site.  Super simple.  I just embossed the floral images with white embossing powder on heavy watercolor paper.  I then used a ink applicator to cover it heavily with Wild Honey and Broken China Distress Ink.  To get it to blend, I sprayed it heavily with water containing Perfect Pearls.  After letting it dry, it blends and looks super cool shiny.  The metallic silvery-gray is actually paper I created.  I just heavily covered white cardstock with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and then sprayed with the Perfect Pearl water.  After letting it dry, I punched it.  Easy.

Some linky fun for you:

  • Was having a down-sort-of-weekend and my dear friend Michelle must have sensed it.  Her kind heart arranged a fun card collection for me to make me smile – totally surprised, totally needed, totally appreciated… and it totally worked.  Thanks to you all, ladies.  God was good when he introduced me to you all on this great place we call the web.  I HIGHLY recommend that you check out the fab cards HERE.
  • Not sure glitter is for you?  THIS card will make you believe.  Love it. 🙂
  • Oh my.  One of the most adorable layouts ever HERE.
  • THIS is cool.  That's all I can say.  So cool.
  • THIS is awesome.  Want to do.  Especially with the girls when they are here all summer.
  • While away this weekend, Ken told me he tried a recipe from the new Jamie Oliver Food Revolution book.  He said it was incredible.  It was a 20-minute pasta dish with all fresh ingredients.  Huge hit.  Many people asked if I had tried his recipes, so I thought I would pass on the good review.

OK… off to get some work done.  Have a great weekend.

  1. So happy your hubby came home safely. What a horrible situation to be away from your family and not being able to get to them when you want to.

  2. Glad your husband made it back safely and I hope you have a wonderful time this weekend!

Quick question–how do you get the paper to not get all warped after it’s been wet? Do you iron out the wrinkles w/a craft iron?

On this side of the Atlantic, Jamies book is called “Ministry of Food”. I bought it about a year ago, and it has totally changed how we cook as a family, the food we eat and buy etc! Have you tried his “consistently good gravy”? Yummy over any roast dinner!

  14. Glad your hubby made it back home. We leave for France on May 15 and are concerned about the volcano, too. Your card is lovely. Love how you used the white on the watercolor paper. I’m going to try it, too, because it would make a lovely set of cards. We will be making a home visit in France, and I thought I would take them a set of my cards. Enjoy your girlie time! How’s that new IPad?

I’m not a glitter person, but this butterfly makes me think twice, it’s soooooo pretty.
Those sandals are cool too. Looks like a good project for Grandma and Granddaughter this summer.

    Have fun stamping.

  17. I didn’t realize he had a book. Excellent! Must say that the other day while at the kids’ school cafeteria I said a silent prayer that I am able to make my childrens’ lunches every day. The cafeteria food looks disgusting is all the processed stuff that he talks about in the show. Gross.

  18. So glad Ken is home to you safe and sound. Big fan of Jamie Oliver – even have signed copy of one of his books.

Glad we were able to give you a little “lift” last Wednesday. Hugs to you all.
