Dude. People rock. And so do Copics.

People rock.  They really do.  Getting lots of emails from my girl Kristina about prizes so many folks are offering.  Big value stuff.  Be sure to check them out HERE.  I know many people say they don't want the prizes, but this is our way of thanking you for taking the time to make this family smile.  Going to head to the PO tomorrow to pick up my first round of cards.  Can't wait.  Thanks, everyone!  (If you are interested in learning more about this current card drive, click HERE.)

Copics

So, yes, I have jumped on the Copic bandwagon.  I was going to resist, as I was happy with my colored pencils.  However, when one of my bosses asked me to do a few projects with them, I jumped in.  And I am glad I did.  Now, many people really get into the techniques with these – you can do some amazing things with them.  Me?  I just use them to create solid colored images quickly.  I don't do all the more advanced stuff.

I have gotten some questions on them.  I got the Copic Sketch Markers, thanks to the help and suggestion of the awesome Ellen Hutson.  She and Cathy got me started.  If you have questions, be sure to check out her blog HERE.  You can also get helpful information from Daisy and Joy HERE.

If you want to see Copics used in an incredible way, visit Debbie Olsen.  This girl is a gem, along with each of her cards.  And she has a great tutorial on Copics HERE.  Be sure to check it out.

Here is a quick card I did for Kate with my Copics.  Simple simple simple.  But this little squirrel is so cute with Copics, a gemstone (colored black) eye and a glittery heart.  Sweet.  Hope it makes Kate smile.

By the way, check out Kristina's great page HERE.  Too cute.  And you gotta check out THIS post by Cathy Blackstone.  She tells how she makes salsa.  And it is funny, too!

OK… night!

  1. Such a cute card, Jennifer! I’m sure Kate will love it. 🙂 I just sent my cards off today… it did feel funny adding my info for the draw since that’s not why we’re all doing this… hope you (and Colin) feel better real soon. 🙂

  2. Jennifer

Love this little card, it is so very cute. It will be perfect for Kate.
I need to work on a few cards. The girls and I keep saying we need to get started.

Sorry you are still feeling under the weather. I pray you both feel
    better soon.

  3. I’m am soooooo on the bandwagon too! Archivers is carrying Copics now and my good friend Taylor VanBruggen has been using them for a while now. I put it off for so long because I’ve invested a ton in Prisma color markers, but the Copics blend so much better. I wish they had these when I was in school becuase then I’d own them instead. A little pricey, but worth the cash.

My cards for Kate will be in the mail next week BTW! Ta ta for now.

  4. Your copic colours are gorgeous. One of my favourite thing to do with my limited collection is to colour a solid area then shade with my prisma pencils and blend with gamsol or baby oil. It means I don’t need as many colours of copics as I normally would have as usually you need to have a few shades of the one colour to get a nice blend. The effect is really cool and as long as the prisma is put on top of the copic not the other way around (it will wreck the markers) it works a treat. You prabaly already knew about this but thought I’d share just in case 🙂
    Cheers.

  5. I’m sure that Kate will love the card it is so cute. I enjoy my cpoics they are so much fun to use. I’m like you I color quickly. TFS!!! all the links with us.

  6. This is soooo cute, love it to bits. We have lots of squirrels in the garden and although they are a bit naughty at times I do have a soft spot for them, especially the babies! Great colouring with Copics. Katie will adore this card, Jo x

  7. What a CUTE card, Jennifer! Love that little squirrel! 😉
I don’t even want to get hooked on something else so I better stay away from copics! LOL! Thanks for the sweet shout out about my layout! 😀
Hoping to get some more e-mails today! 😀 BIG hugs, my friend! Happy Friday! Hope you and Colin are feeling better today!

  8. will have to check them out… didn’t want to get on the bandwagon either… but will try…thanks for the tip!!!

Was also following your twitter about Colin missing daddy… Have you tried a ‘daddy shirt’? Kids feel comforted when they can smell dad/mom. Works every time for me. Naptime, bad day, bedtime…. when I’m gone… it saves my husbands life…

Hope you and Colin are on the mends…. praying for you!

  9. Your little squirrel is sooooo cute! Thanks for all the great card ideas- even when you are under the weather! Hope you (and your little guy) are feeling better!! My envelope of cards for Kate went out yesterday (8/27) from NY. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
