Total random stuff… and some giveaways, of course.

Hello!

I am a happy camper.  I am snuggling in on the sofa to watch some TV and catch up on email.  And my belly is full and happy after some incredible gnocchi from Maggiano's with my mom tonight.  And a new dress and top from anntaylorloft.com (super sale last weekend – additional 40% off sale prices) sitting on the table by me.  And tomorrow is Friday.  Don't ya love it?! 🙂

So I have some random stuff to share.  Then again, I am pretty much always random – no deep and meaningful stuff here.

I must must must start out by pointing you in the direction of cardmaker that I truly think is one of the absolute best there is: Lisa Carroll.  Her cards are something that most never achiever: elegant.  She has a classic look that is elegant and inviting.  Well, Lisa was featured on Hero Arts blog today.  (You can see it HERE.)  And she is also giving away a fantastic Hero Arts giveaway on her blog HERE.  Be sure to go check it out and look at her cards.  And, to top it off, she is a delightful, warm-hearted, adorably adorable person.  Don't ya love that?  Anyway, here are some of my favorite cards of her's:  HERE and HERE and HERE.

(Warning: changing gears here…)

Before I forget… the winner of the Basic Grey paper pad is Jenny Brannies! I will email ya.

Let's see.. what is next…

Oh!  A share.  Gotta share something, huh?  This is another oldie from last year.  But it shows two things I love: buttons and Autumn Leaves clear stamps…

Buttons
(c) Autumn Leaves

I really like Autumn Leaves clear stamps for one big reason – they have tons of them and a great variety.  They really are the only non-US-made stamps I use.  There are many I just love!

So… let's gave a pack of Autumn Leaves clear stamps away, shall we?  :)  Just leave a comment on this post by Friday night at 11:59pmEDT telling me your plans for Christmas/holiday cards.  (Do you send any?  Make your own?  Photo card? etc.)  I will pick a random winner of this fabulous Autumn Leaves stamp set…  (It is two sheets of stamps in there… big letters!)

OK… I have GOT to catch up on email.  Night!

My plans right now at the moment is finishing my Autumn/Thanksgiving cards. I have some hero ats clear stamps and using fall color cardstock and fall decorative paper and gemstomes, ribbon to match. Did some embossing and stitching to all my cards. So far in one day I did 5 cards…they came out so pretty. After I completed a whole bunch…..im off to Christmas cards…..whew!

That font on the stamps is my very favorite! I plan to do photocards – but I will stamp the envelopes! Quick & easy – but still festive!

  3. Junglewife says:

I’m using a Lisa Bearnson card kit and also the Becky Higgins kit from last year. I know, one of the cards says 2007 on it, but that’s life! When you live overseas there’s not much you can do about that sometimes!

  4. tigardlilly says:

I’ll be making mine, but other than that, I have no idea! I’d better get thinking!

  5. CRyan says:

I am determined to send out the cards I started making two years ago. Perhaps the design is too detailed or maybe it is that I am a perfectionist and everything has to be perfect before I can put them in the mail. I also have to make envelopes since they are not a conventional size.

  6. Linda Gerig says:

I try to make a few to send. I always wait till too late to make them all. Linda Gerig

I’ve already started to make my cards. I like to use Christmas 3D stickers by Anna Griffin. I love playing with the backgrounds and find that this year I have really been using my Cuttlebug. I make each one differently because I enjoy the designing process. I have around 100 to make but will do something simple for half of them. I get bored making the same card over and over.
Thanks for the chance to win the awesome stamp set. Love it!

    Hi Jennifer,
    The stamps look awesome.

My plan is to stay at home making card and scrap as long as I want with no (not much, anyway) interruption.

    Hi!
I found your blog and I’ve been inspired to make my own cards this year. I still don’t have the concept, but I can’t wait to see the finished product. Thanks!

  11. jeanie says:

i plan to make generic cards, probably with an atc calendar inserted inside so they can use it. 🙂

  12. Linda E says:

I stocked up on Christmas cards before I really got in to stamping so I plan on hand-stamping an embellishment for them.

  13. Susan says:

I always try to make my own photo cards. A group of friends get together for a “card addressing” party so my goal is to get them finished before that. I’m some times still cutting and gluing instead of addressing.

  14. fiona says:

not really sure yet, I did buy a couple of cheap christmas ornaments that I was going to use on the front of a card to send to my friend in scotland. so she not only gets a card but a tree decoration as well! Other than that not sure.

  15. Cheryl says:

Awww, such a cute layout of Colin! I love how simple it is with the stamped word in the middle. I plan to do a photo Christmas card again this year.

Walmart photo cards this year. Simple and inexpensive.

A very nice alphabet by Autumn Leaves to some lucky soul! I’ll be Cuttlebugging some embossed cards, plus I’ll have to do some with pencil or ink colorings. I’m leaning toward sparkly white snowflakes on light to medium metallic blue cards, with some sparkly glitz scattered on the snowflakes, with a nice little bow somewhere on the card. Nelda in TN

Thanks to the inspiration you and Hero Arts give me I´m going to make my own Christmas cards this year. I think I will make accordion cards. I paint watercolourpaper with iridescent (?) paint so it looks like snow. Then I fold it and have christmas trees and snowmen as decoration.I stamp the background with clouds and trees to make more depth in the card.
Thank you so much for the wonderful inspiration you give us with your blog!

  26. jenink says:

Photo card and letter this year- about 40 or so to do, I really gotta get started!

  27. Anna-Karin says:

I love sending Christmas cards and have been making my own for quite many years now. I usually intend to make several of a few designs, to speed up the process, but always end up making them all different. It is just so much fun. I love the idea of my Christmas cards travelling all over the world, and most of the have to travel quite far.

    Have a great weekend!

    Anna-Karin

  28. Marix says:

Definitely making my own cards and gift tags too! I try to stick to a few simple designs so it’s less stressful hahaha

  29. Dien says:

I always intend to make all my christmas cards. That means I have to make a little over one honderd cards. I don’t always succeed. So I like to start early. There nothing better then a homemade card. My husbands always has a lot of fun when he showing our summer holiday pictures of me making christmas cards in the mobile-home.

  30. Ros says:

Thanks for this offer. I’ve actually made my Christmas cards already. As a music teacher, Christmas is my busiest time of the year, so I always get the cards made in August.

  31. amber00 says:

Gonna make my own, wish me luck!

  32. Sue says:

I’m planning on making about 50 cards and trying to do as many different ones as I have time for. We’re moving at Thanksgiving so it will be difficult but I’m determined!

  33. Szilvi says:

I’ll create only a few hand-made scrappy cards for my close scrapbooking friends. The others don’t really understand our mania of hand-made things. 🙁

  34. Carol says:

Thanks for your creative ideas, Jennifer! I always make handmade photo cards. Last year, my cards were a little late and became Happy New Year cards. Hopefully, I will be better organized in 2008!

  35. Simone says:

For my christmas card this year i use my cutting machine for something lovely. I think that i use the card you make on 24 octobre, i love the style. Only the subject will be …?
I don’t know. Do you have an idea?

    Love Simone

  36. Amy says:

I always buy my cards at the after Christmas sales each year so that’s what I’ll be sending this year. Since I’m in Italy now I don’t think I’ll be able to find any for next year so may make my own cards for the first time.

  37. Janet Zeppa says:

I will be making my cards again this year but haven’t decided on the design yet.

  38. Hi Jennifer, I already have made quite a few Christmas cards but none is the same as the others. I made them for challenges etc. But on November 30th my mother, 2 sisters, my niece, my own daughter and me come together at my house to make Christmas cards. It’s a challenge as none of them is a cardmaker/scrapbooker but it’s going to be fun I’m sure.
I love that stampset, thanks for the chance of winning that.
    Have a good day,
    Eveline.

  39. Pat Heney says:

My Christmas cards this year are a variation of the card you made for 2 Peas with the embossed snowflakes on vellum layered over kraft paper with Christmas trees on the front and a message on a tag sandwiched between. It caught my eye the first time I saw it!

  40. tna says:

  41. Jazzy says:

I go to a local stamp store and they have card classes. So I have started my Christmas cards from the designs that I
learned in class. Now I just have to finish them. I usually make 30-40 cards.

This is the first year I am making my cards. I sorta cheated by buying a kit from Marco’s and then modifying a little. I have them about a 1/3 finished and plan to finish them off at a crop next Friday. Love the stamps – very elegant!!!

  46. Erika says:

I am always trying to figure out how you seem to get so much accomplished. Visiting your blog always makes me wonder why I can’t seem to be more productive. Must be too busy admiring your fabulous work!
We usually do photo cards, and this year is no exception. We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in the south of Turkey (a really incredible place!) and have some lovely family photos courtesy of the resort photographers. I’m usually the one taking the pictures, so pictures of the 5 of us are so rare! So, one of those on a whimsical card from Shutterfly. Should be fun 🙂
    Have a great weekend!
    Erika
