Kids Cards… and a giveaway…

Hello!

Thanks for the posts and many emails about the card drive.  It will be fun!  Yep, after I get all the cards, I will photograph and share the big pile here.

Kay (my 13-year-old-step-daughter-who-I-adore-and-is-my-big-helper) is going to put the prize packages together tomorrow.  She is so excited!  Hope to show pictures this weekend.

I thought I would share three cards I made for the kids.  It uses adorable little cards from Stampin’ Up.  They are such fun!

062608 card drive

Supplies:

Hero Art stamps (animals, balloons and greetings, background) and gems

Memories Black Ink

Stampin’ Up little cards

Creative Impressions silk ribbon

Other: circle punches, colored pencils and gamsol

A few people wanted to know what to write in the inside of the cards.  You don’t have to write much – just say you are sending smiles or something and sign it, along with where you are from.  Or, you can get more creative.  Erin Lincoln was the first to send a card for the drive and I love the clever thing she wrote inside!  🙂 Erin, thank you so much.  Adore you.  Here it her fab card…

By the way, if you aren’t a cardmaker, you can send a store-bought card.  Someone who is currently traveling emailed me and send they are sending a postcard – that is a great idea!  Really, anything goes.  And if I get a TON of cards, I will let you know and we can instead start sending cards in for our local children’s hospital.

And, since you all have stuck around long enough to read this far, I have a giveaway! 🙂  Just leave a comment here telling me something that you are dying to try in scrapbooking/cardmaking.  Be sure to leave it by tomorrow at 11:59pmEDT.  I will pick a random winner and send them a copy of the Designing With Recipe Book!

Thanks again, all!  I have some videos coming soon.  Off to work on my PS video.  Smooch!

  13. I would love to try being a little more random and eclectic in my cards, scrapbooking, etc., but it is so hard to let go of my tendency toward the “straight and narrow!”

  14. I’ve bought everything I need for embossing with a heat gun – now I just need to try it. I love the look, just nervous about figuring out how to do it myself. I’m taking a class Monday night at our local stamping store – maybe I can learn some new techniques there!

  15. I want to try the cuttlebug embossing on my cards. You always make it look so fun and easy and I love the look.

  16. Hi! I really want to try using clay to make my own buttons. Maybe add some paint, glitter, and seal them for some shine. If I can just find the time!

  17. Hi Jennifer, just found your blog, and i LOVE it! Keep up all the GREAT WORK!! I love stamping and scrapbooking and cardmaking, i really can’t say i love one more than another, but i’m really wanting to learn to work with all my alcohol inks i have just sitting in a drawer. BUT, i want to make an acrylic album using them so really two new things at once and i’m just scared to death that i’m gonna mess them up. so wish me luck! and do you use “copic markers”? if so, do you like them and are they worth the investment to get involved with them if i already use colored pencils and gamasol? thanks, hope you have a blessed day! sheryl lynn

    Thanks for the giveaway, too!

  19. Believe it or not – I have never done any embossing on my pages. Did some YEARS ago before I had ever heard of modern scrapbooking because my mom was into all kinds of crafts. Now I’ve inherited her stuff and came across her embossing inks, powder and heat gun, so I need a refresher on using them, but I can’t wait until I can use them.

  20. Untill now I’ve only used my stamps to creat cards, but in the future I want to use them on my layouts too. I think it’s a bit frightening cause I’m really afraid it won’t be right from the first time.

  21. I’d love to be able to just sit down and scrap or make some cards. I have so many goodies that I want to use. I’d love to learn how to use my glimmer mists more then just spray chipboard and flowers with them. I would also like to try out some of the things you’ve done on these cool videos too.

  22. Hi Jennifer…
I just finished a card for your kids…using the wonderful Pop up from today’s video…
I was dying to try it since it has been years since I did a Pop up! Was so fun….
thanks for your wonderful creations and ideas!

  23. I would like to give brayering ink for a background a try. I just don’t have the confidence to play around with mixing colors and masking, etc. I don’t even have any reinkers, just pads. Actually, don’t think I have a brayer either.
